1 - 3 Great Books Great Art taught by Missy Fields

Explore art through great children's books! In this class, we will create beautiful pieces using the techniques of great children's book illustrators: Keats, Willems, Lionni, Carle, Elhert and more.

4 - 7 Mosaic Madness! taught by Sandy Caruso

Students will learn ceramic cutting techniques with nippers, as well as techniques for gluing and grouting. There will be a large number of ceramic pieces to choose from, including found objects. Students can expect messy fun creating their mosaic frame! This is a class where it's ok to break stuff!

4 - 7 Learn to Sew on a Machine taught by Carole Price

Learn to sew on a sewing machine, including setup, tensioning, and stitching. This fun sewing project, making a pillowcase, will introduce your child to basic sewing. You’ll bring fabric and matching thread to class, and sew on the Barn's sewing machine. This class makes a GREAT prerequisite to the Quillow and Sundress classes on July 24 – 28!

1 - 3 Fiber Arts Sampler taught by Susan Austin

Kids will explore crayon dyeing while designing a collage or making a picture. They will learn to weave a 100% cotton potholder using a classic potholder loom. An introduction to hand-sewing will be given.

Manga & Anime taught by Dave Laug

Learn to cartoon in this creative class! Explore the basics of developing characters for manga and anime art. Work on facial shapes and profiles, and progress to developing the body and gestures for your character.

4 - 7 Sew a Cool Fabric Bowl taught by Susan Austin

Learn to sew on a sewing machine, including setup, tensioning, and stitching. This fun sewing project will introduce your child to basic sewing, by making a fabric bowl from fabric, rope, and patterns. All materials are supplied, and your child will sew on the Barn's sewing machines. An introductory sewing class using a machine is helpful, although not required.

1 - 3 Animal Art Adventure taught by Beth Renick

Interested in animals and art? This may be the place for you. We will create sculpture as well as paintings and collage in this class. Come join the adventure!

1 - 3 Painting Fun with Watercolors taught by Erin Mahorney

Learn some new, fun techniques: wet on wet, wet-on-dry, resist (wax), and texture additives (i.e. salt). In this class, you will try your hand at abstract painting techniques, flower still life, self-portrait, a layered piece combining several techniques, and even your own personalized stationery!

4 - 12 Rug Weaving taught by Susan Austin

Come with an old bedsheet fabric you don’t love, tear it up, and put it on a rug loom for your warp. Then, take an old sheet, or fabric that you do love and we will teach you how to weave a wonderful rug for your kitchen floor. We will make rugs that measure 18” X 24”. ALL SHEETS AND FABRIC MUST BE 100% COTTON. If a student wants to make a larger rug (2’ by 3’, shown at right) an additional $10 fee can be paid to the instructor on the first day.

1 - 3 Make Art Like Great Artists taught by Beth Renick

Learn about artists such as Monet, Kandinsky, Seurat, Chihuly, and Pollock as we create our own renditions of their art using their style.

4 - 7 Expressive Painting taught by Erin Mahorney

Come learn a variety of painting techniques while painting your own abstract emotional portrait! We will start with blind contour drawing to loosen up and learn to “see”; practice emotional strokes (painting techniques to express different feelings); and do some abstract practice (loosening up and not worrying about photo-realism). Building on this foundation, you will compose, sketch and paint a colorful portrait.

4 - 7 Punch Needle Embroidery taught by Susan Austin

Learn a fun technique to create your own designs on fabric using a punch needle! You will stretch weaver's cloth on an embroidery hoop, load your needle with thread, and "punch" loops to fill in the various colors of your design.

4 - 12 Explore

Gelli Printing taught by Susan Austin

Come and learn about Gelli printing on fabric and paper. We will be making our own stamps and using various household items to stamp and embellish paper and fabric. A collage piece or pack of cards will be the focus of the Gelli printing. Students will take home all of the prints they make in this class!

4 - 7 Sew Your Own Quillow Taught by Carole Price

Learn to sew on a sewing machine, including setup, tensioning, and stitching. This fun sewing project will introduce your child to basic sewing. A “Quillow” is a fleece quilt/pillow that is perfect for overnights! You’ll bring fabric and matching thread to class, and sew on the Barn's sewing machine.

4 - 9 Japanese Calligraphy taught by Emiko Kuisel

Learn the basics and fundamentals and begin the journey of a lifelong practice. Also known as “Shodo”, children in Japan learn this in school. Students will use how to learn the brush — a traditional writing instrument - to express characters in his or her own unique way! Fee includes Shodo set rental; students will purchase supplies (less than $20).

1 - 3 Weaving for Wee Folk taught by Susan Austin

An introduction to weaving with various fibers including paper, loops, and yarn. No previous weaving experience required! Your child will make a 100% cotton potholder, a multimedia paper placemat, and more!

4 - 7 Sew Your Own Sundress Taught by Carole Price

Learn to sew by making this simple project, a cool cotton sundress! Previous sewing experience will be helpful. You will learn how to read a pattern, layout and cut fabric, and piecing. You will choose and purchase your own fabric to bring to class, and use the Barn’s machine. (You may have to purchase a pattern if they are not donated as expected.)

4 - 12 Weave Your Own Scarf Taught by Susan Austin

Have you always wanted to learn to weave? Rigid Heddle weaving is a great way to start! They are small, & easy to work with, and use easy-to-find knitting yarns for great results! In this class, the students will learn to easily "warp" (string) the Loom & make a balanced weave scarf with self-patterning yarn. You will choose & purchase your own yarn to bring to class.

“Alla Prima” Painting at an Easel taught by Dave Laug

“Alla Prima” is the term used for 'wet-on-wet’ painting (an Italian phrase meaning 'at first attempt'). It's a wonderful, lively, painting technique, where layers of wet paint are applied onto wet paint - so no long drying time in between layers! Students will purchase a kit of materials (less than $15). The exact list of materials will be sent out once you register.

This fiber arts class will sample sculptural items such as a basket, fabric dyeing, quilting, free weaving, and more!

Refunds: Since these camps are popular and often sell out, if you register for a class and then

cancel, refund will be given only if the slot can be filled from our wait list. Thanks for your

understanding!

Classes that require you to bring supplies will email the materials list a few weeks in advance

of the camp.

We reserve the right to cancel classes that do not meet minimum enrollment, and issue

refunds in that case only.
