Authors use themes in their novels. A theme is the main idea of the story and usually there is more than one. In the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, one of his themes is loneliness. The main characters George and Lennie are lonely because they have no family, they do not settle in one place, but they do have one another.

In conclusion, Steinbeck’s main theme is loneliness. The main characters George and Lennie are lonely because they have no family, they do not settle in one place, but they do have one another. This theme runs throughout the entire novel; and after Lennie’s death, George is more alone that ever.
