Welcome to Stockley Farm ParkHere at Stockley Farm we offer schools and teaching establishments a unique learning experience. Our

exceptional facilities and resources enable us to deliver educational visits to both primary and secondary schools and to offer more specific based educational packages to colleges and universities. With over twenty

years’ experience, Stockley Farm would like to offer you the following packages for 2011 that have been designed to make learning interactive and exciting with a real “hands on” approach.

Key Stage 1 and 2 -Curriculum WorkshopsDesigned to cover more specific subject areas on the National Curriculum, Stockley Farm is offering ‘On Farm Workshops’. We have adopted a flexible approach to teaching depending on the needs of the individual classes and can combine subjects or do a whole day on one topic area. We are able to work to National Curriculum Attainment Targets and can link topics to QCA schemes of work. We aim to cover relevant topic areas but our main aim is to make learning interactive with practical sessions throughout the day. Subjects currently available include: Food and Farming, interdependence and Adaptation, Organic Farming, Taking Care of Animals and Life Processes and Living Things.

Review from St Nicholas Catholic High School, Year 11, who visited Stockley Farm Park in October 2010.

“Another fantastic day on the subject of ‘Organic Farming’ thoroughly enjoyed by both staff and pupils alike. The day was extremely well prepared with excellent resources and handouts. The day was split into short sessions broken up by fun yet educational activities, where the students enjoyed being hands on with feeding the animals”.

Helen Cameron, Head of Geography.

Stockley Farm is a mixed organic dairy and arable farm. The business incorporates the Open Visitor Attraction and Riverford on Stockley Farm Organics. The diversity of the business allows us to offer GCSE and ‘A’ level studies in the following subjects: Geography Studies, Food and Farming, Organic Farming, Leisure and Tourism, Business Studies and Science based subjects, for example Selective Breeding in Plants and Animals.

The sessions are taught by relevant experts who have years of experience working in agriculture including horticulturalists and animal husbandry specialists. Stockley Farm is a valuable resource for learning and can adapt a day specifically to a subject area of your choice.

GCSE and ‘A’ Level

Early Years Foundation Stage& Key Stage 1

The Harvest Experience

An exciting day full of fun activities awaits children visiting Stockley Farm for the first time. Meet and feed the animals, help to bottle feed the baby lambs and goats and then jump on the tractor and trailer for a ride which includes a walk through our woodland nature trail.

During your visit children will see a wide selection of farm animals as well as meeting the horses and ponies and the birds of prey that live at the farm. Your visit includes a trip to our ‘Pets Corner’ where children can hold a selection of baby animals.

After lunch there will be time to enjoy our excellent play facilities before the afternoon activities commence. Children will have the opportunity to make a bookmark and we also offer a selection of optional talks designed to meet the educational requirements of Early Years Foundation Stage through to Key Stage 1. These talks include how we care for animals and milking time and where milk comes from. We are happy to work with individual schools if there is a specific subject or topic you would like us to cover.

Harvest is a very important time at the farm. On a harvest time visit, children will see the process of how and where we grow crops, through to how we harvest them. Harvest time visits run through September and October and include a trip to the vegetable field and an interactive discussion looking at different plants and vegetables.

The ChristmasExperienceChristmas is a very special time of year at Stockley Farm. Our festive programme of activities includes meeting and feeding the animals, a tractor and trailer ride where children can sing along to Christmas carols as well as meeting the baby animals in the Pets Corner. The highlight of the day is visiting Father Christmas in his magical winter wonderland, every child receives a special gift to take home.

Children then have the opportunity to join Stockley Farm animals and take part in our traditional nativity story. Early booking is essential.
