Lenten Soup and Salad Suppers Every Wednesday

during Lent, our Lenten Soup and Salad Suppers will be served before the mid-week Lenten services from 5:30-6:00 p.m. We need volunteers to share in the soup making—we are asking for a 6 qt. crock of soup on any Wednesday, through April 7. Simple desserts are also welcome. We are seeking to fill 8 soups and 5 desserts each Wednesday evening. Please sign up at the Information Centers or by contacting Stacey at 665-7815, or [email protected].

St. John’s Valley of Faith is re-opening their Clothing Pantry. Donate your gently

used clothing and drop off your donations at the Information Centers or at the Admin. office during the week to provide clothes for this much needed ministry. Questions, contact Don Marquez, 331-1091.

Discussion Forum will be held for those with questions about the Pastor Transition

Proposal on Sunday, March 31 at 11:30 a.m. in the Event Center Conference Room in preparation for the May 5 Congregational vote.

HIS Ministry is now collecting food for the Spring food drive on Saturday, March 30 for St. John’s Valley of Faith in Arvin. The following items can be brought to the

HIS Kiosk on Sundays: 2 lb. bags of beans, 2 lb. bags of rice, 5 lb. bags of flour, 5 lb. bags of sugar, 1 lb. bags of carrots, 5 lb. bags of masa, Knorr tomato bouillon (chicken flavor), peanut butter, fideo pasta, canned chicken broth, canned fruit. St. John’s SCRIP You can purchase SCRIP at the school office during the week or at the Information

Center between services only on Sunday. SCRIP is face value gift cards. You can purchase SCRIP as gift cards from local and national retailers and restaurants. Why use SCRIP? It is easy and a percentage of every purchase of SCRIP comes back to support our School and Children’s Center.

This Easter, Help Create a Lovely Setting and honor a loved one. Purchase a lily for $10 to be used to decorate the Worship Center or Sanctuary then take your lily home as you leave

the church Easter morning. Envelopes are available at both Information Centers in the Worship Center and Sanctuary. Please return orders by April 14.

The Portals of Prayer Devotional for the months of April, May and June are available. Please stop by

the Information Center and pick up a free copy.

Ceilidh Night Join us as we celebrate the Ceilidh (pronounced Kaylee)

Dance on Friday, April 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Event Center. There will be live music, a dance caller, hot appetizers and a cash beer and wine bar. All proceeds benefit the Perry Scotland Missions fund. Tickets available in the church office; $15 per person, $5 for kids 12 and under. Come and have fun and support this great cause.

Concordia University’s 2019 Chamber Winds Tour

Under the direction of Dr. William Kuhn, the Concordia Chamber Winds will be performing at St. John’s on Sunday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m.in the Sanctuary. Admission is free, seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. A free-will offering will be received. This concert will be enjoyable for the entire family.

Senior Exercise Class Join us in the gym lobby Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00-8:45 a.m. Cardio/respiratory workout is done in a chair and even

though you are sitting, you are getting a great workout. In 45 minutes, we will work every major muscle, including your heart. All you need are weights, comfort-able shoes & loose-fitting clothing. For information, contact Coleen Paulden, 664-8090.

The Shroud of Turin Saturday, March 30 at 10:00 a.m., in the Event Center Conference Room. Nora Creech will guide us through the scientific, historical and archeological

studies of the Shroud of Turin. Then Nora will move beyond history and science to reflect on the intense love and sacrifice of Jesus for us as depicted through the image on the Shroud. An additional moment of reflection as we prepare your hearts to celebrate the miracle of His Resurrection. Nora earned a Master’s degree in Faith and Culture and is currently working toward a Postgraduate Certificate in Shroud Studies in Rome, Italy. Hope you can join us for this informational event.
