Pastoral Reflections Dear Parishioners,
Each year on the Second and Third Sundays of Advent, John the Baptist make his appearance on the scene. He calls us to
“prepare the way of the Lord.” To prepare for the coming of Christ into our lives at Christmas we need to remove any obstacles
that might stand in his way. By examining our conscience and confessing our sins we create a clear path for the Lord’s arrival.
Pope Francis reminds us of the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). He has said, “Forgiveness is
not something we give ourselves.” Rather, he says, “It is a gift of the Holy Spirit who showers us with mercy and
grace that pours forth unceasingly from the open heart of Christ crucified and risen.” That mercy and grace is the “gift”
God wants to give you at Christmas – be open to receiving this blessing!
This Monday, December 16th
we will celebrate a communal penance service at 7:00 pm. A number of priests will be
available to hear confession that evening. Also, confessions will be heard next Saturday, December 21st
at 9:00 am and
2:30 pm. Father Brandon and I will both be available at those times. Please take advantage of this opportunity to celebrate
Reconciliation before Christmas.
Registration is taking place for ALPHA which begins January 27th
. ALPHA is an opportunity to deepen and strengthen your
relationship with Jesus, or to encounter him in a new and powerful way. Each Monday evening consists of a meal,
presentation, and small group discussion in an informal and relaxed setting. In mid-March there will be a retreat experience
focused on the Holy Spirit. My hope is that each of you would prayerfully consider joining us for ALPHA. You can register
online at www.stbrons.com/alpha or you can pick up a registration form here at church. Space is limited, so please register
early!
God bless and have a great week!

Children’s Liturgy of the Word or Gospel Time is held during the 10:30 am Mass. Any Preschool, Kindergarten and 1
st grade child can join our Gospel Time Leader, as they
share the Gospel, through reading, prayer and activity. Children will return to the church for the Eucharistic Prayer. Extra Gospel Time activity sheets are available in the gathering space.
Sharing the Gospel Name someone that you think is very important. Jesus said that John the Baptist was the greatest man ever born. John the Baptist did not live in a big house or wear nice clothes. He was not the president, and he did not own a huge company. You would probably think he was very poor. But John the Baptist was truly great because he loved and trusted God with his whole heart. He helped other people follow God, too.
Prayer Dear God, show me ways to help my friends follow God, too.
