What Does School Look Like Now?
All children receive a daily maths, English and one other lesson via ClassDojo with online support from teachers. We always expect children to read with an adult every day, whatever their ability.
If families want more, we encourage them to use resources like BBC Bitesize and optional work is posted to ClassDojo on an ad hoc basis, depending on media trends / anniversaries.
Since lockdown, we have remained open to Key Worker & Vulnerable children.
Year 6 parents have had the option, since 8th June, for a place: groups are for as max of 15 children and neither adults or pupils can mix with other groups. Social distancing is maintained as much as the building dimensions allow. Start, finish and break times are staggered to minimize contact.
From 22nd June, all groups – both Year 6 and Key Worker & Vulnerable (extended to one class per Year Group) – will be for 4.5 days per week. Beyond that we have no more available staff to draw on for further groups.
Transition & The First Day
The teachers will be meeting remotely with teachers from the children’s current settings to receive handover information with the aim of making the transition as stress-free as possible.
Transition Time – week commencing 20th July: details to be advised – watch out for information via ClassDojo and in your e-mail.
Classes are organised based on information received from feeder schools: as we are merging over 70 children from multiple settings, some adjustments may be made in the Autumn. While we will take all prior information into account in establishing the classes, the final decision is down to the professional judgement of our staff.
September 2020 – we are awaiting guidance from the DfE whether existing class numbers (15 max) and strict segregation between groups will be maintained.
Transition Timeline
Now: parents and carers accept invites to join ClassDojo and download and print entry forms (contact the School Office to obtain printed copies if you cannot print them yourself).
June 2020: Year 3 teachers meet Year 2 colleagues virtually (some feeder schools are yet to agree sessions) to obtain hard and soft information about the children.
Late June 2020: the Year 3 team will use their professional judgement to sort all incoming children into 3 classes based on the information feeder schools provide. Unfortunately, we have no capacity to consult parents individually or to negotiate places once classes are set.
Early July 2020: the classes will be divided into two groups (max 15) and invites will be sent out, asking the children to attend school for a half-day in week commencing 20th July.
10th July 2020: deadline for parents and carers to return completed entry forms to the School Office.
20th & 21st July 2020: teachers from the three classes will welcome half of their class to school on each of these days.
22nd July 2020: children with additional needs will have extra time with their teachers on a 1:1 basis.

Healthy packed lunch – avoid sugar (including sugary drinks), sweets and absolutely no nuts – we have several children who have severe, life-threatening nut allergies in school.
School dinners – lunch time contract: please pay for school meals in advance, the school does not provide credit. The school must carry lunch debts – paying for a child’s food reduces the funding we can focus on classroom resources.
The school catering contract is with Caterlink: the Autumn menu is amongst the entry forms.
Free School Meals – if finances are tricky, help may be available with the additional benefit that further funding may be possible for other things, such as Breakfast Club, music lessons, other clubs and trips.
Extended Hours
Only if normal school operations resume.
Breakfast Club – Main Hall: school days from 7.45am to 8.30am
After School Club – EnergyKidz: from 3.30pm to 6pm (charged)
Sports Clubs – Progressive Sports run a variety of sporting clubs (charged) as do other providers
Other Clubs – pre- and post-school hours: short-term, often over a half-term, advertised as and when available (chargeable)

Core uniform is unisex with acceptable variations
Summer: a more casual approach from Easter to October half-term (Winter uniform may be worn if the weather is cold)
Winter: a more formal approach (including shirt and tie) from November to the Easter break
School shoes must be worn: trainers are not suitable footwear in school aside from PE lessons

Safeguarding
School gates open at 8.30am, from which time they are manned, and the playground is patrolled
The gates close promptly at 8.50am – don’t be late! No access via the lower playground gate after 8.50am, the street-level gate is accessible by intercom
NEVER walk across the car-park if the car-gate is open: always use the pedestrian gate if on foot
The car park is not for parental use – please do not tailgate others in
“Open door” policy respects safeguarding – always sign in at the school office, booking an appointment in advance if possible – after school where possible
Church of England School
Church schools established to serve the local community – not a means of Evangelising or converting anyone, we are not a faith school

Daily Assemblies at 3pm where all are invited to participate according to their own beliefs and traditions in an act of collective worship
Christian and non-Christian teachings
All are respectful of each other’s traditions – children will visit various religious settings during their time in the school
The church is a venue for termly celebrations, and all are expected to engage with these positively, in accordance with the school’s vision

Each uses All Saints church as a venue and are variously referred to as celebrations, productions and services.
While there is no element of liturgical worship at these events, the Vicar (Fr Jeremy) may lead prayers and bless everyone.
We mark other notable festivals and consult parents and pupils on how they feel the celebrations should be marked.
