PRAYER OF CONFESSION God, you are on the side of justice and mercy, and you call your people to be on that side, too. When we forget which side we are on and rush to judgments about other people, other faiths, and other ideas, Lord, have mercy on us.

When we ignore what we know is right because it is not easy to do, Christ have mercy on us. When we profit from other people’s suffering, even though we don’t intend to, Lord have mercy on us. Then help us rejoice in the gift of your mercy and show us how to offer it to each person we meet.
