PRAYER OF CONFESSION One: We are here as a people who know that we have sinned and wandered away from our God-designed selves. Let us in silence confess our transgressions to our heavenly Father. —Silent Prayer— We all need a home, Jesus—a place to belong, to be loved—even when we’re at our worst;

You came and made your home among us, Jesus so that you could become a home for us. We thank you, and pray for ourselves and all who need to find their way home today.

All: Thank you for being a home to all of us, whoever we may be. Amen.

* THE PEACE As we are reconciled to God and to one another, share a sign of Christ’s peace and love with your neighbor.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY MISSION COLLECTION TO BENEFIT THE BALDWIN CENTER We are getting a jump-start on stocking The Baldwin Center's Holiday Store by contributing items they ran out of at last year’s holiday store. This list of NEW needed items shows how, for some people, basic clothing needs can be a gift including: underwear and socks for all sizes and genders, but especially juniors’/women’s for teen girls and boys’/men’s for teen boys; jeans, specifically for boys, sizes 8-20 and men’s sizes for teen boys; hooded sweatshirts (plain) in black, navy and grey to match school uniforms in juniors’/women’s and boys’/men’s, all sizes. Shopping list copies are available on the name-tag table in the main hall; the collection tote is next to the table. We will collect items through Monday, August 1.

DETROIT TIGERS GAME The Northbrook PWN FUN group is sponsoring our annual trip to watch the Detroit Tigers play ball on Friday, August 26. The cost is $37 and includes a ticket to the 7:00 p.m. game, transportation and a pre-game tailgate snack. Seats are limited and we will need a payment to secure your seat. Please arrive at 5:00 p.m. at the church on game day. For questions, please call Barb Stetson at (248)302 3033.

THANK YOU Thank you to my Northbrook family. I would like to thank you for all your support on the recent passing of Cliff. Thank you for all your cards and prayers. It meant a lot to the entire family. Marilyn Dean and Family

SHARE YOUR BOUNTY THIS SUMMER WITH THE BALDWIN CENTER Help feed the hungry with fresh produce this summer by contributing produce you grow yourself or fruits and veggies you purchase at a grocery store or farmers’ market. Please deliver your donations to the church or take them directly to The Baldwin Center at 212 Baldwin Ave. in Pontiac. They will be used either in the community free meal program or made available to members of the community served by The Baldwin Center. Items brought to Northbrook will typically be delivered to the center on Mondays or Tuesdays. A basket for produce collection will be at outdoor worship and/or in the hallway near the nametag table. Please do not place items in plastic bags.

BACKYARD BIBLE AND BEVERAGE Starting July 6, Backyard Bible study begins on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. We’ll be reading Love Wins by Rob Bell in which he explores a central question of faith that many of us wonder about: Does it really make sense that God is a loving, kind, compassionate God who wants to know people in a personal way, but if they reject this relationship with Jesus, they will be sent to hell where God will eternally punish them forever? Bell leads us through an examination of what the Bible actually says on the subject, discovers that Jesus′ most fundamental teaching about heaven and hell is "Love wins." This is a casual discussion that you are free to drop in and out of as your calendar permits. Rain or shine, just bring your Love Wins book, a beverage of your choice and lawn chair to the backyard of our weekly rendezvous. Our current schedule is as follows:
