One: We thought you were dead. We thought the cross was the end. We thought that when the stone rolled over the tomb, that was it. But this is it: All: the dead are living; the cross is empty; the stone is rolled away and one word describes it all: Alleluia! Christ is risen! One: We thought the story was finished. We thought the hope had ended. We thought that when the tomb was sealed, that was it. But this is it: All: the story has just begun; the hope is newly born; the tomb is empty, and one word says it all: Alleluia! Christ is risen! One: We thought that when they crucified you, That those with power had won, death had defeated life, and that was it. But this is it: All: Love is stronger than death, and one word says it all: Alleluia! Christ is risen! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

EASTER CONFESSION One: Christ, when we come to the empty tomb, we see our own death, know our own mortality, see our own emptiness. We see a world that is still hungry and thirsty, violent and hostile, broken and depleted. All: And we know that collectively we share in those injustices. One: Lord, when we come to the empty tomb, we know we cannot escape what we are, people caught up in the pain of our own shame, isolation from others, frustration of not being who you created us to be. All: We acknowledge that our wounds are deep, we have turned away from Jesus. And yet, we seek his fellowship. We lay before you our pain and emptiness, and look to you for hope. —Silent Prayer— One: People of God, why do you seek the living among the dead in an empty tomb? Do not dwell on your wounds any longer, for he is risen to heal you; he is risen to forgive you; he is risen to change us all and bind us together now. Christ is risen to forgive us.

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM—AN UPDATE ON THE ISRAELI/PALESTINE OCCUPATION On Monday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m., please join us in the Library as Patricia Ochodnicky presents a first-hand assessment of the relationship between the Israelis and the Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories of the West Bank. Ms. Ochodnicky has recently returned from her ninth visit to the West Bank in seven years.

HANDS-ON MISSION OPPORTUNITY Please consider taking part in the Rebuilding Together Workday on Saturday, April 25 from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Farmington or Pontiac area. This will be an opportunity to do repairs and/or improvements to homes owned by people who cannot afford to have the work done by contractors. Rebuilding Together is a national service organization. As you survey the grounds outside your front door at home, you're thinking you just can't wait to get out there after our hard winter and get your hands dirty tidying up the grounds. Well, save some of that energy for Saturday, May 16 when Northbrook has its Spring Cleanup Day. Your church home after a hard winter needs a little TLC to keep the grounds looking good. We will start at 9:00 a.m. So, come sporting your work duds, a set of gloves, and be sure to bring your garden tools.
