Some facts about Nashville
Nashville is known either as Music City USA or Athens of the South. The city has architectural
attractions like The Parthenon, which is the only full scale replica of the Greek temple in the world. The home of Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States, can be found in Nashville. Today, Nashville is still the center of country music and its growing economy attracts tourists, travelers, and
business executives.

The city has a long tradition of influencing the development of
country music in America and this can be seen in sites such as Music Row, the Ryman Auditorium, the Country
Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly country music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee, that has presented the biggest stars of that genre since 1925. It is also
among the longest-running broadcasts in history since its beginnings November 28, 1925, as a one-
hour radio “barn dance” on WSM-AM. Dedicated to honoring country music and its history, the Opry
showcases a mix of legends and contemporary chart toppers performing country, bluegrass, folk, gospel,
and comedic performances and skits.
We will now look at a couple of web-sites that feature some of the most famous past and
current Country Music artists as well as performances from the Grand Ole Opry
