This connects directly to our need for students to be challenged at their level in math, reading and in social-emotional learning. As our data shows, our students come to us with all different abilities,at all levels at all different times throughout the school year. In order for each student to make personal gains, we must organize our school for personalized learning.

Attendance: ★ Good attendance is teaching your child good lifelong habits. Do all that you can to make sure your

child is in school. - UNLESS… fever (24 hours without medication), vomiting or diarrhea (free for 24 hours), undiagnosed rash- We like to share but not our germs

★ Call the attendance line (630 428-6789 push #3) to report all absences. Any student who is absent and has not been called in will be contacted by the office.

★ Students who miss more than 5% are considered truant and will be contacted by Principal★ Students who are not in their classroom and ready to learn at the final bell will be marked tardy. Breakfast is

served from 8:50- 9:00 am. Final bell rings at 9:05 (Wednesdays 9:15).★ Early dismissal- please try not to schedule appointments during the school day. Students will be called down to

the office once parents have arrived for the early dismissal. ★ Students are not dismissed early after 3:00 pm.

Security: ★ Security is a priority★ Visitors must always enter through the main door and go into the

office ★ Please sign in on the visitor’s page★ Please bring a picture ID (Driver’s license or state ID) every time★ This will be scanned through our Raptor system★ Your license will be kept in the office until you exit the building.

Academics:★ District 204 curriculum! Our Math/ELA Curriculum is aligned to the Common Core Learning

Standards. Some grade levels are piloting a NGSS curriculum for science.★ Longwood has a focus on Future Ready Learning★ Large support staff to help our students achieve high expectations of District 204

Social Emotional Learning:★ Longwood has a focus on Social Emotional Learning★ Second Step SEL Program★ SEL learning targets built into every lesson★ PBIS Program (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports): Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be

Respectful-“Cool Tools” which define behavior expectations in various parts of the building (look for the posters!)-We teach expectations-Our team constantly tracks and analyzes behavior data-Pride Points

★ Class Meetings, some student led★ Quarterly Recognition Breakfasts★ Systems in place to support students socially/emotionally if they are struggling
