SHIVOHAM! (“I am Divine”)

“Cambodia is all about awakening your Kundalini Shakthi (inner hidden potential

energy) and raises it to the highest peak frequency! When the Kundalini moves inside

the system, at different areas it experiences different frequencies! Celebrate life; enjoy

life as you want with this extraordinary, overflowing, excessive, luxurious life-energy!

Your DNA will be vibrating Shivoham!”

Welcome to Inner Awakening! Congratulations on making a decision to attend this life transforming meditation retreat. Inner

Awakening is a 21-day meditation retreat for the mind, body and soul conducted by enlightened

master Paramahamsa Nithyananda (also known as “Swamiji”). Inner Awakening will feature daily

yoga, healthy vegetarian food, and powerful mediation processes to make you experience the space

of oneness with life (“Advaita”).

The theme of Inner Awakening at Cambodia is Shivoham – “I am Divine”. It will explore the

relationship between you and the Cosmos! You will explore the mystical dimensions of this

relationship. The Inner Awakening in Cambodia will be a both an inner and outer spiritual journey

– also called a Yatra.

Cambodia, once known as the Khmer Empire, is a beautiful country in Southeast Asia - well known

for its magnificent & monumental temples. Well known among them is Angor Wat – the largest

religious structure in the world – now a World Heritage Site.

For more than 2000 years Cambodia absorbed influences from India, especially in their construction

of temples. It is believed that Cambodian temples are influenced by South Indian art and architecture,

especially from Pallava culture (people from the southern state of Tamilnadu). The temples of

Cambodia are built as yantras or devices that help in the awakening of the Kundalini energy (the

hidden inner potential energy in all of us).

During Inner Awakening at Cambodia we will not only visit many of these ancient temples, including

Angor Wat, but also have a chance to meditate in them.

1. South Gate Bayon

The architectural scale and composition of the Bayon exude grandness in every aspect. Its elements juxtapose each other to

create balance and harmony.

Over 2000 large faces carved on the 54 tower give this temple its majestic character. The faces with slightly curving lips, eyes

placed in shadow by the lowered lids utter not a word and yet force you to guess much, wrote P Jennerat de Beerski in the

1920s. It is generally accepted that four faces on each of the tower are images of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara and that they

signify the omnipresence of the king. The characteristics of this faces - a broad forehead, downcast eyes, wild nostrils, thick

lips that curl upwards slightly at the ends-combine to reflect the famous 'Smile of Angkor'.

2. Ta prom Temple

Ta Prohm is the undisputed capital of the kingdom of the Trees'. It has been left untouched by archaeologists except for the

clearing of a path for visitors and structural strengthening to stave of further deterioration.

Because of its natural state, it is possible to experience at this temple the wonder of the early explorers when they came upon

these monuments in the middle of the nineteenth century.

Shrouded in dense jungle the temple of Ta Prohm is ethereal in aspect and conjures up a romantic aura. Fig, banyan and

kapok trees spread their gigantic roots over stones, probing walls and terraces apart, as their branches and leaves intertwine

to form a roof over the structures. Trunks of trees twist amongst stone pillars. The strange, haunted charm of the place

entwines itself about you as you go, as inescapably as the roots have wound themselves about the walls and towers'.

Sanskrit inscriptions on stone, still in place, give details of the temple. Ta Prohm is 3,140 villages. It took 79,365 people to

maintain the temple including 18 great priests, 2,740 officials, 2,202 assistants and 615 dancers. Among the property

belonging to the temple was a set of golden dishes weighing more than 500 kilograms, 35 diamonds, 40,620 pearls, 4,540

precious stones, 876 veils from China, 512 silk beds and 523 parasols.

3. Angkor Wat Temple

ANGKOR WAT is listed in World Wonder List

Angkor Wat, in its beauty and state of preservation, is unrivalled. Its mightiness and magnificence bespeak a pomp and a

luxury surpassing that of a Pharaoh or a Shah Jahan, an impressiveness greater than that of the Pyramids, an artistic

distinctiveness as fine as that of the Taj Mahal. Angkor Wat is located about six kilometres (four miles) north of Siem Reap,

south of Angkor Thom. Entry and exit to Angkor Wat can only be access from its west gate.

Its perfection in composition, balance, proportions, relief's and sculpture make it one of the finest monuments in the world.

Wat is the Khmer name for temple (the French spelling is "vat "), which was probably added to "Angkor "when it became a

Theravada Buddhist monument, most likely in the sixteenth century. After 1432 when the capital moved to Phnom Penh,

Angkor Wat was cared for by Buddhist monks.

4. Preah khan Temple

Four concentric ramparts subdivide Preah Khan. The outer or fourth wall, which is encircled by a wide moat, today encloses a

large tract of jungle, formerly the living quarters of the monks, students and attendants of Preah Khan. The second rampart

delineated the principle religious compound of about four hectares within which there is a dense concentration of temple

and shrines. The central complex is Buddhist. The northern and western sectors are dedicated to Brahmanism— Vishnu (west)

and Shiva (north), whilst the southern sector is a place of ancestor worship. The eastern sector forms the grand entrance to

the central shrine.

A place for a king located near Preah Khan temple is called Veal Reacheak or Preah Reachea Dak. It is 1,500 meters long and

1,200 meters wide. Nearby about 700 meters north of Preah Khan temple along the road to Angkor Thorn district is another

small temple called Ptu. The temple was made of laterite.

Page 11: Welcome to Inner Awakening · SHIVOHAM! (“I am Divine”) “Cambodia is all about awakening your Kundalini Shakthi (inner hidden potential energy) and raises it to the highest

5. Peak Pean Temple

Although. Neak Pean is small and a collection of five ponds, it is worth a visit for its unique features. It is believed to have

been consecrated to Buddha coning to the glory of Nirvana.

The central pond is a replica of Lake Anavatapta in the Himalayas, situated at the top of the universe. The lake gives birth to

the four great rivers of the earth. These rivers are represented at Neak Pean by sculpted gargoyles corresponding to the four

cardinal points Lake Anavatapta was fed by hot springs and venerated in India for the curative powers of its waters. The

orientation of the ponds at Neak Pean ensured that the water was always fresh because the pods received only reflected light.

6. Mebon Temple

The East Mebon is 500metre (1,640feet) north of Pre Rup. A enter and leave the temple from the east entrance. It was built in

the second half of the tenth century (952) by king Rajendravarman II, dedicated to Siva (Hindu), an ancestor temple in memory

of the parents of the king with following the Pre Rup style art.

The Mebon stands on a small island in the middle of the Eastern Baray, which was a large body of water (2 by 7 kilometres,

1.2by4.3miles) fed by the Siem Reap River. The temple was accessible only by boat. Today the baray, once a source of water

for irrigation, is a plain of rice fields and the visitor is left to imagine the original majesty of this temple in the middle of a

large lake.

7. Pre Roup Temple

It is an architecturally and artistically superior temple-mountain. Beautifully carved false doors on upper level, as well as an

excellent view of the surrounding countryside. Richly detailed, Well-preserved carvings. Traditionally believed to be a funerary

temple, but in fact the state temple of Rajendravarman II. Historically important in that it was the second temple built after

the capital was returned to Angkor from Koh Ker after a period of political upheaval.

8. Boeng Mealea

The remains of Boeng Mealea, which are still partly buried under vegetation, consist of perfectly squared-off sandstone

building blocks. The outstanding decoration dates from the first half of the 12th century.

In various times, the pediments of some buildings are sculpted with narrative scenes from the Ramayana, and while Hindu

iconographic themes are plentiful, Boeng Mealea is clearly a Buddhist sanctuary as Banteay Samre, which is more or less

contemporaneous. This is confirmed by the magnificent statue of the Bodhisattva Lokeshvara discovered in the monument

and today housed at the Angkor Conservancy.

9. Kbal Spean

This holy place must have been favored during the great Angkorean epoch when its waters, after having washed gods and

lingas, continued on to the wondrous royal city with its growing monumental temples.

10. Banteay Sre

Banteay Srei is built primarily in red sandstone, a medium that lends itself to the elaborate decorative wall carvings which are

still observable in fine details today. Measured by the standards of Angkorian construction, the buildings themselves are

miniature in scale. These factors have led to its being widely praised as a ‘precious gem’, or the ‘jewel of Khmer art’

and perhaps the temple’s modern name, Banteay Srei or Citadel of Women, is probably related to the intricacy of the bas

relief carvings of devatas found on the walls and the tiny dimensions of the buildings themselves

This was the only major temple at Angkor not built by a monarch; its construction is credited to a courtier named Yajnavaraha,

who was a scholar and philanthropist and a counselor to king Rajendravarman. He was known to have helped those who

suffered from illness, injustice or poverty.

Page 13: Welcome to Inner Awakening · SHIVOHAM! (“I am Divine”) “Cambodia is all about awakening your Kundalini Shakthi (inner hidden potential energy) and raises it to the highest

11. Ta Som Temple

Prasat Ta Som located in the east of Nean Pean. The entry and exit to Ta Som can only be access from east entrance. It

was built in the end of the 12th century, dedicated to the father of the king (Buddhist), replica to Bayon style of art.

In the past one of the significant features of Ta Som was the growth of fig trees the faces at the west tower.

12. Phnom Kulen Mountain

The Kulen Mountain or Phnom Kulen is declared as a National Park. It is an isolated mountain massif located in Svay Leu

District and some 48km from Siem Reap. Its highest point is 487 meters.

This is widely regarded as the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire. During the constructional period of the ancient temples

in the nineth century, sand stones were brought from this sacred mountain to Angkor. It was here at Phnom Kulen that King

Jayavarman II proclaimed independence from Java in 802 A.D.

The site is known for its carvings representing fertility and its waters hold special significance to the people of Cambodia. Just

a few inches under the surface of the water, over 1000 carvings of Yoni and Linga are etched into the sandstone riverbed. The

waters are regarded as holy, given the sacred carvings which also include a stone representation of the Hindu god Vishnu

lying on his serpent Ananta, with his wife Lakshmi at his feet. A lotus flower protrudes from Vishnu’s navel bearing the god

Brahma. The river then ends with a beautiful waterfall. Phnom Kulen is regarded highly by Cambodian people as a sacred

location and has developed into a great tour destination.

Page 14: Welcome to Inner Awakening · SHIVOHAM! (“I am Divine”) “Cambodia is all about awakening your Kundalini Shakthi (inner hidden potential energy) and raises it to the highest

13. Koh Ker

Koh Ker was once an ancient capital of Cambodia, located in Srayong Cheung village, Srayong commune, Kulen district, about

49 kilometres west of the provincial town. The Koh Ker complex is on the Chhork Koki highland. It was built by King

Jayavaraman IV (AD 928-942). Koh Ker temple is 35 meters high, and its design resembles a seven-stepped stupa. The temple

faces west toward Angkor city. It was built to worship Treypuvanesvara, the god of happiness.
