STEP 1: CHECK FOR TENSES
Look for the tense of the statement
(Hint: Which word class will show a
change in tense?)
Underline the verb in the sentence.
The verb will reflect the tense! Look for
clues in the sentence to tell us of the
tense.
STEP 2: Subject-Verb Agreement
Look for the subject and underline it.
Determine if the subject is plural or
singular.
Identify the verb.
The subject and the verb should match.
