WE GATHER AS GOD’S PEOPLE
We Welcome One Another 9:50 am (Please sign the pew pads and pass them to the others in your seating row.) Our Prayer Before Worship
Thank you, loving God, for bringing us to this time of worship. Refresh us and heal us again.
Remind us of the many ways in which you have blessed our lives with your abundant love and
your presence. Guide our hearts and our spirits that we may hear your words and our souls
may be stirred into active service to your people. In the name of the Good Shepherd, who
leads us to life, we pray. AMEN.

Leader: Come, walk with the Lord this day. People: We seek places of peace and rest from the stresses of our lives. Leader: The Shepherd will lead you to places where your soul may be restored. People: We come, sometimes fearful of the hostilities of the world. Leader: In the midst of all the turmoil, The Shepherd will provide for your needs abundantly. People: Surely these wonders will heal and restore our spirits. AMEN.

"Through Light and Shadow"
Through light and shadow I am led, I follow. Through the ins and outs the ups and downs of these days,
when my heart is failing, when my spirit rejoices, when I can barely put one foot in front of the other
still you beckon me on...
When I stumble you support me, when I can go no further you carry me, through light and shadow, in
death's dark vale, and on the mountain peaks you lead me,
through tangled webs, on rocky ground, on smoother paths....
Through light and shadow you lead me, I follow. May I never walk alone.... AMEN.
Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father UMH 70, Tune: Meineke
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

WE OFFER OUR PRAYERS AND PRAISE
Sharing our Prayers of Joy and Concern
A Morning Prayer and our Lord's Prayer
All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

This month we are collecting underwear, a basic necessity that most of us take for granted. At the Westside Free Store, the demand for both men’s and women’s undergarments is very high, while the supply is very limited; often absent. For individuals living in poverty or homelessness, underwear is a very basic need, but one of the most difficult items to acquire. People don’t usually think about donating underwear, or perhaps feel awkward or uncomfortable, not really knowing if it is an acceptable item to donate. The goal of our month of Undie Sundays is to of course collect underwear, but also bring awareness and conver-sation around the fact that everyone deserves a fresh, clean pair of underpants. Being able to offer clean underwear to someone goes a long way in promoting their self-confidence and most impor-tantly, their dignity. Donations of new men’s and women’s underwear can be dropped off at the church. Only new under-wear will be accepted due to hygiene reasons. Just buy your own size and we’ll have a good variety to offer. On May 5 Dave and Robin Ladd and volunteers will be taking the underwear to the Westside Free Store, serving a lunch and praying with those who request it. Volunteers and food items are needed. A suggestion was made to offer Tacos for the meal for the West Side Free Store on May 5th since it is Cinco de Mayo. Dave and Robin will have a sign-up sheet in the Rudorah Welcome Center for needed items. They are planning on tacos and possibly spoon bread, tortilla chips and salsa. Any other sug-gestions are more than welcome.
On May 6, 2018 we will honor our graduating seniors. The seniors will take part in the worship service that
morning, and will be presented with a Bible from their church. Following worship, there will be a lunch in the
Fellowship Hall to further recognize their achievements. Here is a list we have compiled. If your senior isn’t
listed, please let the office know immediately! You are welcome to invite family and friends!

The Madison County Food Pantry has a real need for feminine hygiene products and has asked that our church focus on providing these items. Just bring whatever products you may use personally and that will give us a variety of items to contribute.
This month we are collecting granola bars for Sufficient Grace. You can drop them off at the church - there is a blue bin just outside of Chez’s office.
On April 28 at 8am the Women’s Bible Study will begin a study of the Book of Ruth. At this first meeting of this study, the film “The Story of Ruth” from 1960 will be shown. All are welcome to attend. The meetings are held at the home of Teri Gray, 1023 Margate Circle, London. Questions? See Maryann Emrick.
