PROPOSED SCHEME FOR THE SESSION 2017-18
ABOUT LIBRARYToday our library is recognized as one of the premier school library
incorporating the latest technological innovations to make it userfriendly and eminently accessible.
It plays a key role in the cultural and social life of the school.
It is the central point for engagement with all kinds of reading, culturalactivities, access to information, knowledge building, deep thinkingand lively discussion.
It has a well equipped, comfortably furnished and has airy, spaciousand well lit interiors.
It follows the open access system. This system allows all thestudents/staff to choose any book they like from the shelf.
Our library is equipped with high profile automation software.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To provide information, awareness, inculcate ideas and develop
knowledge among students and teachers.
To equip students with life long learning skills and developing creative thinking and imagination and enabling them to live as ideal and responsible citizens.
The main aim is to promote reading habit.
To inculcate love, enjoyment and pleasure of reading amongst the students.
Assist the students to become skillful .
Stimulate and guide each student in different categories and use of books and other reading materials for the building of taste at appropriate level of maturity.
LIBRARY RULES
• Treat Everyone with respect.
• Treat Library Materials with care.
• No food or Drink should be consumed in the Library.
• Maintain silence in the Library.
• Students are allowed to use the library in their respective library periods. They can also use the library in Zero Period as well as after the school gets over. They may consult the Library in any other period if they have their Supervisory Head's / Teacher's written permission.
• Students of class VII to IX will get one book while students of class X to XII can borrow two books at the same time from the library for seven days.
• Students are not allowed to bring their personal books inside the Library.
• Students may issue their books in library period, zero period and one hour after the school gets over.
LIBRARY RULES• students are required to check the book at the time of getting
issued. Damage, if any, should be reported immediately . In case of loss/damage of the issued book, the students have to pay the cost as well as fine on the book in question
• If renewing a book, students must have the book with them to renew. Books may be renewed only twice. No renewal is given if other member has reserved for the same book.
• Books are to be retuned on due date mentioned on the issue level. A fine of Rs. 1/- per day is imposed on any book returned after the due date.

CIRCULATION OF BOOKSRegular circulation of books are provided for classes VIII to XII.
The circulation is done during the library periods, zero period, recess and after school hour.
LIBRARY PERIODSLibrary periods are there for every class starting from V to XII.
During library periods students from V to VI are allowed to read theirfavorite books, students from VII to XII they can read as well as they canissue books, magazines and question papers.
CBSE / SCHOOL BASED EXAMINATION QUESTION PAPERS NOTICE / BULLETIN BOARDSThe library notice board gives information regarding the new books added to the library, career ,higher education and competition related information.

News paper clippings related to our school, excellent results and otherachievements are filed in the library records i.e. IMAGO and displayed on thedisplay boards.
REFERERENCE SERVICESThere is a good collection of reference books in the library in different subjectareas such as Dictionary, Encyclopedia, Maps, Atlas, Thesaurus, Year Book,Directory. These books are not supposed to be issued only can be referred in thelibrary.
Besides these Library holds different documents rather than books such as schoolmagazines, old diaries ,other school magazines, old prospectus, school log book,News letter, annual charge distribution etc.
LIBRARY SERVICESBOOK EXHIBITION & AUTHOR VISITBook exhibition with cooperation from the different publishers/sellers are organized two times a year. Eminent authors also visit our school to interact with the students to facilitate reading habits.
Our Library functions during vacations and holidays also. Throughout the vacation the library remains open to facilitate learning among the students, teachers and other staff members.

• In order to facilitate reading habits among readers various activities were conducted are as given below:-
• 1st to 4th September Literacy Week was observed. On the eve of literacy week various competitions were held among students of different categories.

• On the eve of national book week, literacy day observations different competitions like book cover design, book mark design, self compose poem writing competition, story writing competition, book review writing competitions were held among the students of different classes.

• On the eve of National Book Week Ms. Susmita Bagchi, an eminent writer was invited as our chief guest, she interacted with the students from std.VI to VIII and advised students to inculcate reading habit as every reader is a leader.
