Liturgy Corner

Thank you to all those who have been serving since the reopening of our parish liturgies! We could not be able to do this without your gift of service and faith. Since the gradual reopening of the parish, we are not assign-ing ministry positions and we have a limited number of ministers needed. We are asking liturgical ministers to volunteer through the Ministry Scheduler Pro. If you do not feel comfortable to serve at this time, don’t feel pressured to serve, your health and wellness is im-portant to us.

Cleaning Ministry Opportunity

We are looking for additional volunteers to clean the church on Saturday mornings after the 8:00 a.m. Mass on the third and fourth weekend of the month. This includes vacuuming, light dusting, and cleaning the pews. We also need assistance cleaning the pews after the morning Mass during the week and can always use help after the Sunday Masses. This takes no longer than 10 minutes. If you would like to join the Cleaning Ministry, please email [email protected] for more information.

Just a reminder: Our parish ministry volunteers are re‐quired to complete a volunteer application, reference checks, and foundation training session, prior to volun‐teering in ministry. Remembering the deceased members of our parish on their anniversary of death.

OUR DEEPEST NEEDS

The word of God serves up a tremendous feast for us today. Isaiah beckons all who hunger and thirst to come to the Lord for satisfaction. The psalmist cries out, “The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs” (Psalm 145:16). Saint Paul tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Finally, in the Gospel, we hear the story of the miraculous feeding of over five thousand people from a mere five loaves and two fish. Most of us have our material needs met on a day-to-day basis. These scriptures, nevertheless, have much to say to the contemporary believer. We must ask ourselves, “Where are my deepest hungers? Where are my thirsts?” After material needs are satisfied and, in some cases, over-satisfied, many people still experience a deep longing for spiritual balance and well-being. As the loaves and fish are multiplied in today’s Gos-pel, perhaps our prayer can be a longing for the satisfaction of the deepest needs that only God can fill. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
