It contains homework, AR reports, and AR goal sheets. AR BookoStudents should be bringing them home each day to read and bring back the next day because they will have time to read during the day.
Curriculumo Social Studies- Pickerington history, map skills, timelines, local government, economics, and citizenship
• Reading/Language Arts- spelling, phonics, guided reading, paragraph writing, and literature units• DOL will be done daily. It will be gone
over in class together.
CUPSC- Capitals- Did you use a capital at the beginning of the sentence/proper nouns?
U- Understanding- Does the sentence make sense? Have you used the correct verb form? Are you missing any words?
P- Punctuation- Periods, question marks, exclamation points, commas, apostrophes
S- Spelling- Are all the words spelled correctly?
o Math- problem solving, patterns, graphing, geometry, algebra, measurement, fractions, multiplication, division, and estimation.o Daily timed tests

Reading/ Homework Foldero Inside the folder consists of each student’s AR goal and his/her reading and log. Every Monday an AR progress report will be included.
o AR is a computer program which tests students comprehension over books they have read. By the end of the first nine weeks, students are required to have earned 8 points. Each student will read books tailored to his/her reading level.

This reading goal sheet is
to help students keep track of how many points they have. Students may not always earn their goal for the week, which is ok as long as
they are continuing to read a book.
For example…
Eventually, Book It coupons will be awarded to students who meet his/her
goal.
Reading Log/Math LogoAt home reading logs will a part of each student’s reading/math folder. Students should read 75 minutes during the week (weekend reading counts) and return the signed log on Mondays with his/her folder.
oStudents math log will also be in this folder. Students should complete 75 minutes of math fact practice a week and return the signed log on Mondays with his/her folder.
Homeworko 75 minutes of reading AR book weeklyo 75 minutes of practicing math facts weekly- can be using flashcards or the computero Return folder on Monday morningo If your child does not complete the requirement for the week or does not return their folder
on Monday, they will spend one recess practicing math fact and/or readingo On a weekly basis, students may be receiving homework in order to reinforce a concept that
is taught in class
V.I.P.o Each week a child is chosen to be the V.I.P. (Very Important
Person) of the week.o Students may bring in photos, collections, stuffed animals, trophies, etc.o A poster will be sent home for them to complete about themselves. It
should be colored and returned by Friday.
Birthdayso Please let me know at least two days in
advance if your child would like to celebrate his/her birthday with the class. This will help avoid any scheduling conflicts. No food items will be permitted this year.
