Google Classroom What will learning look like for your child?Blended learning is a combination of bothasynchronous and synchronous learning.What is Asynchronous Learning?Asynchronous learning is when the student completes lessons independent of the teacher. Welcome Packet and Forms

In September, you will receive a “Welcome Packet”, which includes a letter from each 4th grade teacher, as well as crucial information.

Please take some time to review the packet, with your child. Please be sure to complete the forms

in the back of the packet.

LITERACYTeacher’s College-Throughout the school year, students will work to strengthen their close reading abilities. We will also work to develop other core reading skills such as main idea, making inferences, interpreting figurative language, etc.

• Read each night for at least 30 minutesAsk your child questions about what they read and ask them to summarize their reading.Ask your child to write a summary using correct punctuation, capitalization and grammar.

Our Grading Policy• 96-100% = 4• 80-95% = 3• 65-79% = 2• 0-64% = 1

All teachers will communicate through Class Dojo. Homework will be posted, as well as important reminders for the grade.

This is also a way to privately messageteachers.

HOMEWORK

• Homework is assigned EVERY night including weekends and holidays!

• Homework should not take students more than 30-45 minutes to complete.

• Please make sure it is signed and checked every night as this is reinforcement to what was taught in class!

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES & ELL STUDENTS

• Teachers work with parents, service providers and students to meet their goals.

• Students will engage in the same curriculum, but it will be presented in a way to reach their needs.

SUMMER REGRESSION

• Mathematics – on average students regress about 2.6 months of grade-level equivalency

• Reading- Varies but on average, students generally lose about 2 months of reading achievement

• Preventing Summer Regression is Possible

WAYS TO PREPARE• Memorize multiplication facts (0-12)

• Practice mental math (addition and subtraction)

• Ask your child to, work with a budget and estimate how much you will be spending when in the store

• Ask your child what time it is and how much time has passed from a specific time

• Give your child addition and subtraction problems with numbers up to three digits

• Make sure your child reads for at least 30 minutes each day. They should be reading on a level P when they enter 4th grade in September!
