Throughout this course I have learnt the importance of using technology in my classroom. In the Australian curriculum general capabilities the importance for students to be able to use ICT effectively and appropriately is indicated. Myself as a pre service teacher needs to consider how I can integrate ICTs into my classroom in an effective way, to maximize student outcomes. By integrating Technology into my classrooms my students will learn how to make the best of using technology in the classroom and beyond. Using technology in effective way will enhance my teaching and benefit my students. It is so important for me to be completely technology literate so that I can use technology successfully in my classroom and teach my students how to use technology usefully and appropriately. From thisTo thisNEXTI have gained a new understanding for what it means to use technology usefully in the classroom. My understanding of using technology in the classroom has completely changed throughout this course. I have made the change from thinking that using technology in the classroom is just for fun; to understanding it is a meaningful and effective tool to maximize my students learning. I hope to put my new found knowledge to good use as a teacher; I appreciate how the use of ICT in my classroom can enhance my student learning and outcomes. If I have the right approach to technology use in the classroom I will be able to apply it with good use and engage student with learning and in turn improve students learning outcomes. There is such a large variety of different technology I can use in my classroom to engage students and support my students with diverse needs. Throughout the presentation I will take you on my journey of 1251EDN my learning of using technology in the classroom.My attitude changed this semester from a very trivial understanding to understanding that ICT have a meaningful and purposeful place in the classroom. When I had my feedback from the ICT project make a video, my group made a video on ancient Egypt, focusing on one of my teaching areas history. In my 50-word response I wrote that making a video in the classroom could be very fun for students, my feedback for the response was there was plenty of other reasons for students to make a video other then fun. It was at this point that I really started to consider the meaningful reasons of using and having my students use technology in the classroom .Now that I have almost completed this course I understand the usefulness of technology as a teacher can maximize student engagement which is really important at this time when kids are always using some sort of technology. I am now thinking of ideas of how I am going to apply my new knowledge in my own classroom. I am excited to be to have the knowledge to successfully use technology in my own classroom thanks to this course. I can now recognize how in the Australian curriculum general capabilities there is the importance for students to be able to use ICT effectively and appropriately. Personal ReflectionNEXTAs a pre-service teacher it is important for me to consider that my students are 21st centaury learners. Throughout this course I have established an understanding of TPACK, what is means to incorporate technology into my teaching. TPACK is all about incorporation of pedagogical knowledge, content knowledge and technological knowledge. The projects I have done in this course have given me some great ideas of how to apply technology to my teaching area content. In the podcast project I created a newscast based around the assassination of King Philip II. This podcast I could use within my own history classroom. Instead of handing my students a photocopy of a textbook page and have them read it and answer questions I could play them the newscast and have a talkback radio session in my classroom this will have my students working together and using their creative thinking skills. I hope to use my personal blog for further use as a teacher to display my experience with using technology in the classroom. My two teaching area content is History and English .I have been able to apply this content knowledge to the projects I have completed this semester for 1251EDN which is a perfect example of how I can apply my content knowledge with my pedagogical knowledge and technological knowledge. It was really good to go through the weekly process of doing this applying what I had leant in my content area to my new technology skills leant in ICT for teaching. Each week I had to consider how I would apply my content knowledge through the ICT project which is exactly what TPACK is about.Understanding TPACKNEXTWhile completing this course I was also doing understanding learner diversity there was a really good connection through the diversity course and 1251EDN. In the learner diversity course I leant what it means to be an inclusive teacher and what it means to be a diverse learner. As a student I leant how to make alterations to lessons to support diverse learners. This course 1251EDN has shown me why it is essential to integrate ICT into my classroom to support my diverse learners, and the projects have given me some really good thoughts of how I can use technology to cater to my diverse learners. The guest lecture was really good and broadened my ideas of how technology can help students with disabilities. He showed us some really good tools we could use in our classroom to support students with disabilities. Something as simple as a keyboard with larger letters displayed can help a diverse student so much. I gained a lot of knowledge in 1251EDN that I will now go on to use in supporting my diverse learners.Leaner Diversity and ICTNEXTThe last 12 weeks was my beginning of thinking about how I can be a successful teacher I now know the importance of ICT and TPACK for teaching. I have attended lectures where I was given the information I needed to understand what It means to effectively use my new found technology skills in my own classroom. I found connections between using technology in the classroom and catering for my diverse learners. I never fully considered the great ways I could implement ICT into my classroom as a teacher but now I can recognize the great ways and purposes for using technology as a teacher. I hope to successfully use my new found skills when I go out into the world of teaching to enhance my teaching and improve my students learning. I believe that being able to use technology in the classroom is a vital part of being a successful teacher I will be using it in my own classrooms for sure.
