Top Tips for Maths• Look at how many marks each question is worth• Answer all the questions, even if you have to have an

educated guess• Write ALL of your working out on both exams• Read questions carefully, if it asks for an answer as a

fraction and you give it as a decimal, you will lose marks• Use all the time you have available. Check your answers are

sensible and that you haven't missed a page by mistake!

Revision Advice – Stage 1(Long term prep)

1. Start NOW.

2. Download the specification.

3. Begin to make notes (mind maps etc) on the specification points (In a folder).

4. Bring any questions in to your Science teacher.

5. Summarise your notes in less space (cutting out the “fluff”).

6. Repeat 1 – 5.

Page 51: Welcome [southamcollegeyear8.files.wordpress.com] · revision focusing on areas of weakness identified from the mock exams Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 November Mock Exams March Mock Exams

Revision Advice - Stage 2(Mini test / mock prep)

1. Download a past paper.

2. Attempt to answer as many questions as possible.

3. Check against the mark scheme (be honest!)

4. See your teacher with any questions you have struggled on.

5. Go back to stage 1 on any areas you have struggled on.

6. Repeat 1 – 5.

Revision Advice – Other ideas

1. Write your answers on the back of an envelope to save on printing.

2. Print off and carry questions with you in case you have time.

3. Bring tricky questions and answers in to discuss with one of us. See if you can catch us out!

4. Learn the mark scheme for an exam, eat your meal, then try the questions.

5. Keep a score chart of how you do in exam questions.

6. Reward yourself once you get, say, 50 marks.
