Our Poppy Appeal
raised £340
Mel Donaghue is 41 years old and is our fabulous new Head of Outbound Telephony. Mel is from Sunderland but lives in Houghton-‐le-‐Spring with her Daughter Macy and their cat Lilly. She is called Lilly as she is completely white so is a pampered house cat.
Macy is 11 years old and she attends Sunderland High School.
Macy is fascinated by horses and animals, so when Macy leaves school she wants
to work with horses rehabilitating and training them. Mel lived in Norway for 3 years as a teenager and went horse riding with Morton Harket from the 80's group A-‐HA (for those old enough to remember!!!) Mel loves travelling and with her parents living in Spain she can visit there whenever she likes (lucky Mel and Macy).
Mel does have a gym membership with the health and racquet club -‐ but cannot remember the last time she was there!!!!! Mel is obsessed with rap and RnB music and her favourite artist is Kayne West. Mel would prefer to have a VIP guest pass to see him rather than winning the lotto!!!! “My music isn’t just music it’s medicine”
Mel has worked in contact centres for 14 years across a various industries, utilities, out sourcing and finance.
Mel recently had a new kitchen fitted and asked them to remove the oven from the plan and add more cupboard space but when guests go round for 'dinner' she still manages to present them with a range of organised menu's where they can choose from world wide cuisine, Chinese, pizza, Indian, Thai etc!!!!! (What no “Patotoes”)
As busy as Mel is she takes all of her 4C's seriously and dedicates her time to the community and every Sunday she and Macy volunteer at the animal rescue centre where they do dog walking and give cat cuddles. By Michelle Adams

Congratulations to Sunderland CC... What a fantastic achievement for Sunderland Contact Centre at the prestigious North East Business Portfolio awards held at the Stadium of Light... From a shortlist of top North East employers, Sunderland triumphed for the second year in a row to take the top award in the Employer of the Year category -‐ described by the paper on the night, as one of the strongest categories. And the Sunderland CC team is already looking for their next accolade from the North East Contact Centre Awards. They have 19 entries in for nine different categories and will find out today if they have been shortlisted...Best of luck to them all!
Very recently October 21st, one of our team of advisors led by Gemma Coates kitted themselves out with all the gear and went to help with a clean up in Herrington Park. Starting at 9:45 (early for
some) they were given the tools needed i.e shovels, gloves, rakes, and brushes. The team tackled many jobs such as turning the wood chippings, edging the gardens, sweeping the paths. On the afternoon they went down to the pond. Matt, Annand, Ali, Ian D and Ranger Ian braved the waters of the deep to dig up and thin out
the reeds. These were then carried round to the other side of the pond and replanted them so that they were distributed
evenly. This meant that the pond was cleaned and would ensure further growth. The whole team said they had a fantastic day and was a brilliant team building exercise and it felt amazing to have done something for the community. By Jayne Dodds
Chief Executive Bob Diamond urges the private sector to become better citizens
Speaking at the first ever BBC Today Business Lecture, which took place in London on Thursday 3rd October, Bob explained why it is vital for banks and businesses to adopt a broader set of objectives and responsibilities. He highlighted the need for the private sector to focus on economic growth and creating jobs, especially in a period where governments around the world are cutting spending.
Outlining the three key ingredients for rebuilding trust, he said: “First, we have to build a better understanding of how businesses and banks work together to generate economic growth; second, we have to accept responsibility for what has gone wrong; finally, most importantly, we have to use the lessons learned to become better and more effective citizens.”
