NoodleTools – Things You Should Know
E-mail forwarded to you on December 4, regarding:Google Apps authenticationSandbox access for new version of NoodleToolsRollout schedule and details
Google Apps Authentication
Google Apps authentication option, providing single-sign on access to NoodleTools.
All schools using Google Apps for Education (GAFE) are encouraged to take advantage of this single-sign-on option.
Google Apps Authentication
To view the blog entry that describes the feature and provides info about how to send NoodleTools a request go to: http://www.noodletools.com/blog/archives/1192
Allows you to install NoodleTools as a Google App
It is a Google Marketplace app that must be installed by the Google Apps for Education administrator of a school or district.
Google Apps Authentication
• Step 1: Requesting Google Apps SSO – You need to inform the NoodleTools team that you are going to be using Google SSO.
NOTE: Google SSO will not work if you simply install the app on your side without informing NoodleTools.
To submit a request, you must complete the form:http://noodle.to/gappsform
Google Apps Authentication
• Request may take a few days to process.• Google SSO is not required just because your
school uses Google Apps.• Information about Google SSO activation,
checking, installation, accessing the app, and FAQs are available from the blog post.
• Allows users to link to a previously-created account.
Sandbox for New Version of NoodleTools
Five to ten schools will be testing the beta version of the new Noodle Tools this week.
Rollout schedule and important details
• Winter break has been chosen for a significant update process related to the new website design.
• Saturday December 19 and 26th and potentially a few days before the New Year will be designated for this work, and NoodleTools will be offline for parts of those days.
Rollout schedule and important details
Stage 1 – Saturday, December 19th
Overhaul of the Noodletools.com website design
Stage 2 – Following website update, additional updates (beginning December 26th) will incorporate the new NoodleTools interface.
Expect some downtime over that weekend as they migrate data to the new system.
Can we opt-out of these changes?
NoodleTools expects that most (if not all subscribers) will want to move to the new version.
Student and teacher accounts will be migrated seamlessly to the new interface.
If for some reason your schools or district prefers to opt-out of that update temporarily, you have that option.
To opt-out, please let Damon know at: [email protected] before 12/18.
Stage 2 timing is flexible, Stage 1 changes are NOT optional.
What technology staff needs to know:
December 19th – NoodleTools domain will be changing the domain for the NoodleTools application.
Existing links to NoodleTools will not break, they will automatically redirect to the new domain.
If your schools uses a proxy server for access, or your school has whitelisted the domains for web filtering or firewall access, changes to those configurations may be required.
What technology staff needs to know:
Internet Explorer (IE) versions 9 and lower will no longer be supported.
Please verify that you have access to Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or IE version 10 or higher.
