Der Unterschied zeigt sich auf den

ersten Blick. Wer durch Südtirols

Weinlandschaft fährt, trifft auf ge-

pflegte Rebanlagen, die sich sonnen-

verwöhnt an die Hänge schmiegen.

Man sieht, hier ist jeder Weinbauer

mit vollem Einsatz bei der Arbeit, pro-

duziert wird höchste Qualität. Doch

damit nicht genug. Inmitten der Wein-

berge stechen zahlreiche schmucke

Anwesen, historische Weingüter und

prächtige Ansitze ins Auge. Sie unter-

streichen: Wein hat eine lange Tradi-

tion in Südtirol. In der Tat wurde am

Südbalkon der Alpen schon vor mehr

als 3000 Jahren Weinbau betrieben.

Bereits die Römer haben hier Wein

an- und ausgebaut. Später kam es

dann den Mönchen und der Geist-

lichkeit der süddeutschen Bistümer

zu, in Südtirol dem Weinbau zur Blüte

zu verhelfen.

Besonders reich gesegnet mit histo-

rischen Gemäuern ist das Überetsch

– von den nicht weniger als 400 Bur-

gen, Schlössern und Ansitzen in Süd-

tirol zählt das Weinbaugebiet südlich

von Bozen rund 160. Es ist damit eine

der burgenreichsten Gegenden Euro-

pas. Kein Wunder, dass hier Weinbau

und Adel eng miteinander verbunden

sind. Heute zeugen davon die zahlrei-

chen Güter adeligen Ursprungs: Ba-

ron Widmann, Ansitz Kränzel, Wein-

gut Manincor, Castel Schwanburg

und viele mehr. Gemeinsam sind ih-

nen allen jahrhundertealte Mauern

und Keller, in denen seit mehreren

Generationen Wein gekeltert wird.

Keller, in denen heute durchwegs der

Wind der modernen Weinwirtschaft

weht. Auch das ist charakteristisch

für Südtirols Weinwirtschaft: Alte Ge-

mäuer bedeuten nicht automatisch

eine altmodische Weinproduktion, im

Gegenteil. In Südtirols historischen

Weingütern treffen einige der ältes-

ten Rebanlagen Europas auf High-

Tech-Kellertechnik und Winzer, die ihr

Handwerk von A bis Z verstehen.

Auf zwei traditionsreiche und auch

auf die beiden größten Weinbauge-

meinden – Eppan und Kaltern – kann

das Überetsch verweisen. Aber nicht

nur das: Mit dem „Überetscher Stil“

verfügt das Weinbaugebiet auch

über einen eigenen historischen Bau-

stil. Er ist stark beeinflusst von den

venezianischen und toskanischen

Baumeistern, die vor 500 Jahren im

Überetsch wirkten. Erkennen lässt

sich dieser Renaissance-Stil, der die

Gestalt ganzer Dörfer prägt, an den

Doppelbogenfenstern mit schlanker

Mittelsäule, an den Steintreppen,

Erkern und Loggias. Das wichtigste

Bauelement war dabei der Sandstein.

Typisch ist auch ein großer Mittelsaal,

um den sich verschiedene kleinere

Räume gruppieren. Nördliche und

romanische Elemente verschmel-

zen im Überetscher Stil miteinander.

Dasselbe kann vom Wein in Südtirol

erzählt werden. Auch dieser wird von

alpinen und mediterranen Einflüs-

sen geprägt, vom milden Klima, vom

Fleiß der Weinbauern in den Bergen,

von einer gelungenen Symbiose zwi-

schen Alt und Neu. In Südtirol treffen

Kulturen aufeinander und begeistern

Feinschmecker, Historiker und Wein-

liebhaber gleichermaßen. >

La differenza si vede fin da subito.

Chi percorre i vigneti dell’Alto Adige

incontra coltivazioni ben curate che

si adagiano sui pendii soleggiati.

Si nota che qui viene prodotta una

qualità superiore dal grande lavoro

di ogni viticoltore. Ma questo non è

tutto. Tra i vigneti balzano agli occhi

numerose, eleganti tenute, proprietà

storiche e sfarzose residenze, le quali

evidenziano il fatto che in Alto Adige

il vino vanta una lunga tradizione. In

realtà, in questa zona soleggiata del-

le Alpi, la viticoltura era già praticata

più di 3000 anni fa. Gli antichi Roma-

ni potenziarono questo tipo di colti-

vazione. Successivamente, i monaci

e il clero delle diocesi del sud della

Germania contribuirono a far fiorire la

viticoltura in Alto Adige.

Particolarmente ricco di rovine stori-

che è l’Oltradige – delle 400 residen-

ze, castelli e dimore dell’Alto Adige,

la regione vinicola a sud di Bolzano

ne conta circa 160. Si tratta, quindi,

di una delle zone più ricche di castelli

d’Europa. Non c’è da stupirsi che qui

la viticoltura e la nobiltà siano stret-

tamente collegate tra di loro. Oggi

lo testimoniano numerose proprietà

di origine nobiliare, quali l’azienda

agricola Baron Widmann, la tenuta

Kränzel, l’azienda agricola Manincor,

Castel Schwanburg, ecc. Si tratta

tutte di dimore e cantine, dove da più

generazioni viene pigiata l’uva e in cui

soffia senza eccezioni il vento della

modernità che ha raggiunto il settore

vinicolo. Anche questa è una carat-

teristica tipica dell’Alto Adige: antiche

dimore non significa automatica-

mente produzione di vino di vecchio

stampo. Anzi, nelle storiche aziende

agricole dell’Alto Adige, alcuni dei più

antichi vigneti d’Europa si incontrano

con la tecnologia high-tech e con i vi-

ticoltori che conoscono il loro lavoro

nei minimi dettagli.

L’Oltradige può puntare sulle due più

grandi e ricche di tradizioni comu-

nità viticole, Appiano e Caldaro. Ma

non solo: la regione viticola presenta

anche un proprio stile storico archi-

tettonico, fortemente influenzato da-

gli architetti veneziani e toscani che

500 anni fa operarono nell’Oltradige.

Questo stile rinascimentale, che ca-

ratterizza la conformazione di interi

paesi, si rivela nelle doppie finestre

ad arco con montante centrale sot-

tile, nelle scale di pietra, nelle vetrate

e nelle logge. L’elemento costruttivo

più importante è l’arenaria. Tipico

è anche un grande salone centrale

per raggruppare i diversi spazi più

piccoli. Elementi nordici e romanici

si fondono con lo stile del territorio.

Lo stesso si può dire del vino dell’Alto

Adige. Anch’esso si distingue per l’in-

fluenza derivante dal carattere alpino

e mediterraneo, dalla mitezza del cli-

ma, dall’operosità dei viticoltori delle

montagne e da una simbiosi perfetta

tra vecchio e nuovo. In Alto Adige, le

culture si incontrano le une con le al-

tre ed ispirano in ugual misura buon-

gustai, storici e amanti del vino.

A visitor to the vineyards in South

Tyrol will notice the difference: the

perfectly tended vines are set on

steep hillsides. Here you understand

that the superior quality of the wine is

a direct result of the intense labour of

each and every winemaker. Yet there

is more: amid the vineyards, beautiful

estates pop up, historical villas and

luxurious residences that underscore

the ancient tradition in South Tyrol.

In this sunny area of the Alps, win-

emaking was practiced more than

3000 years ago. Ancient Romans

improved upon this type of cultiva-

tion, then monks and clergy from the

Southern German dioceses helped

create a flourishing winemaking tra-

dition in South Tyrol.

Oltradige is rich in historic ruins- of

the 400 residences, castles and

houses of South Tyrol, the winegrow-

ing area south of Bolzano has ap-

proximately 160. In fact, it is the area

with the highest concentration of

castles in all of Europe. It’s no wonder

that in this area, winemaking and no-

bles are closely connected. Numer-

ous noble residences abound, such

as the manor of Baron Widmann,

the Villa Kränzel, the country farm

Manincor, Castel Schwanburg, and

others. These are homes and wine

cellars, where for generations grapes

were crushed and where the air of

innovation has drifted to the win-

emaking sector. This is also typical

of South Tyrol: ancient manors don’t

automatically mean production of

old-fashioned wines: on the contrary,

the historic farming and winemaking

traditions of Europe meet high tech-

nology and are enhanced by master

winemakers with their keen eye to

detail.

Oltradige boasts two of the largest

and richest areas with strong win-

emaking traditions: Appiano and

Caldaro, but it doesn’t stop at wine:

this region has its own architectural

style, strongly influenced by Venetian

and Florentine architects operating

in Oltradige 500 years ago. This Re-

naissance style characterises entire

towns, and is evidenced in double

arched windows with thin centre pil-

lars, of stone staircases, windows

and loggia. The most important con-

structive element is sandstone. An-

other typical feature is the grand cen-

tral salon uniting smaller rooms. As

Nordic and Roman design elements

merge with the style of the territory,

the same can be said of the wine of

South Tyrol. This area distinguishes

itself for its Alpine and Mediterranean

character, for its mild climate, for the

work ethic of the winemakers from

the mountains, and the perfect mix of

old and new. In South Tyrol, cultures

meet and inspire gourmets, history

buffs and wine lovers alike. ◊

2008, what started out as a humble

family wood shop in the heart of the

Dolomites, has become DolfiLand,

one of the world’s largest expositions

of artisanal crafts in wood. “For our

family, wood is our life and we want

tion offers over 60,000 creations and

REINHOLD MESSNERReinhold Messner, 1944 in Südtirol geboren, bestieg

bereits als 5-Jähriger seinen ersten Dreitausender. Nach seinem Technik-Studium an der Universität Padua verschrieb er sich ganz dem Bergsteigen. Ein Leben als Grenzgänger folgte. Seit 1969 unternahm er mehr als hundert Reisen in die Gebirge und Wüsten dieser Erde und schrieb vier Dutzend Bücher. Dabei gelangen ihm viele Erstbegehungen, die Besteigung aller 14 Achttau-sender sowie der „seven summits“, die Durchquerung der Antarktis, der Wüsten Gobi und Takla Makan so-wie die Längsdurchquerung Grönlands. Heute hält er Vorträge und Seminare und arbeitet an verschiedenen musealen Projekten.

Reinhold Messner, nato in Alto Adige nel 1944, già all’età di 5 anni scala le Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Dopo gli studi tecnici presso l’Università di Padova, si dedicò in-teramente alle scalate. Trascorse una vita oltreconfine. Dal 1969 ha effettuato più di un centinaio di viaggi per le montagne e i deserti della Terra ed ha scritto quattro

dozzine di libri. Successivamente arrivarono numerose prime scalate, la scalata di tutti i 14 ottomila e quella delle “seven summits”, la traversata dell’Antartide, del deserto del Gobi e del Takla Makla nonché la traversata longitudinale della Groenlandia. Oggi egli tiene confe-renze e seminari e lavora in diversi progetti museali.

Reinhold Messner, born in South Tyrol in 1944, at the tender age of 5 climbed the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. After technical studies at the University of Padua, he dedicated his life entirely to climbing. Nearly his entire life was spent outside his homeland. Since 1969 he made more than a hundred trips for the mountains and deserts of the earth and wrote four dozen books. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass jemand, der sich für

das Thema Berg interessiert, noch nie etwas von

Reinhold Messner gehört hat, ist verschwindend ge-

ring. Seit mehr als 30 Jahren gehört er nun schon zu

den erfolgreichsten Bergsteigern der Welt. Ständig

auf der Suche nach neuen Herausforderungen, be-

stieg er als erster Mensch alle 14 höchsten Gipfel

dieser Erde. Über diesen Wagemut wurde weit über

die Landesgrenzen hinaus berichtet. Bei jeder Expe-

dition wagte er einen riskanten Grenzgang und be-

gab sich – wenn auch mit Kalkül – in Todesgefahr.

Reinhold Messner versuchte dabei aber nie Grenzen

zu verschieben, sondern seine eigenen kennenzuler-

nen. Seine Expeditionen wurden von vielen als Jagd

nach immer neuen und waghalsigeren Unterfangen

aufgefasst. Dies heimste ihm schon bald den Ruf ein,

süchtig nach Ruhm und Erfolg zu sein. Dabei ging es

ihm im Gegensatz zu modernen Abenteurern weni-

ger um Rekorde als vielmehr um das Ausgesetztsein

in möglichst unberührten Naturlandschaften mit ei-

nem Minimum an Ausrüstung. Messners Leben war

aber auch von vielen Schicksalsschlägen geprägt.

Der aufsehenerregendste war wohl der Verlust sei-

nes jüngeren Bruders Günther am Nanga Parbat.

Es war aber gerade das häufige Scheitern, das ihn

zu dem machte, der er heute ist. Immer wenn es

in seinem Leben besonders schwierig wurde, ging

er noch einen Schritt weiter, als er es ohne Wider-

stände und Probleme getan hätte. So sehr es ihn in

die extremsten Lebensräume dieser Welt zog, ist er

immer wieder gerne in seine Heimat zurückgekehrt.

Zwischen seinen Expeditionen lebt er mit seiner Fa-

milie in Meran und auf Schloss Juval bei Naturns in

Südtirol. Von sich selbst sagt er „Ich bin mit Leib und

Seele Südtiroler“. Hier bewirtschaftet er Bergbauern-

höfe, züchtet Yaks, eine zentralasiatische Rinderart,

schreibt Bücher und widmet sich seinem Museum-

sprojekt „Messner Mountain Museum“ und der Stif-

tung „Messner Mountain Fundation“. Seine Bücher

sind Bestseller und werden in mehr als 24 Sprachen

übersetzt. Auch wenn ihm die Behörden bei der Re-

alisierung der Museumskette viele Steine in den Weg

legten, blieb Messner hartnäckig - genauso wie bei

der Besteigung eines schwierigen Gipfels - und ließ

sich von seiner Idee nicht abbringen. Im Vergleich zu

den bürokratischen Hürden, welchen er im Zuge sei-

ner Projekte begegnete, beschreibt er die bergstei-

gerischen Schwierigkeiten und Herausforderungen in

seinem Leben als belanglos. Mit der bevorstehenden

Eröffnung des fünften Sitzes auf Schloss Bruneck

vervollständigt Reinhold Messner sein Museumspro-

jekt, welches er selbst als seinen 15. Achttausender

bezeichnet. Jedes der fünf Museen verschreibt sich

einem spezif ischen Thema und ist in einen besonde-

ren historischen und geografischen Kontext einge-

gliedert. Das Projekt stellt eine wichtige touristische

Attraktion für Südtirol dar und ist gleichzeitig Kern-

und Angelpunkt einer Thematik, die weltweit vom

kulturellen als auch thematischen Gesichtspunkt

ihresgleichen sucht. Im Messner Mountain Museum

gibt Reinhold Messner seine Erfahrungen, Emotio-

nen und Geschichten, die in Summe das Bergsteigen

ausmachen, an den Besucher weiter. Er will zeigen,

was er dank seiner vielen Erfahrungen über die Be-

ziehung zwischen Berg und Mensch gelernt hat. Es

geht ihm um Dialog, um gemeinsame Geschichten

sowie um das kulturelle Erbe des Alpinismus. In sei-

nem Mosaik „MMM“ gibt Messner dem Besucher die

Möglichkeit sich mit dem Thema Berg und mit frem-

den Kulturen auseinanderzusetzen. Der 5. Ableger

des Messner Mountain Museums auf Schloss Brun-

eck wird im Sommer 2011 eröffnet und ist den ver-

schiedenen Bergvölkern dieser Erde gewidmet. Seit

ihm 1970 einfache Bergbauern am Nanga Parbat das

Leben gerettet haben, fühlt er sich eng mit den Men-

schen dort verbunden. Von sich selbst sagt er, dass

er im Grunde seines Herzens immer Bergbauer war

und bis heute geblieben ist. Auch mit seiner Stif tung

MMF unterstützt er die Bewohner abgelegener Täler

auf der ganzen Welt. Ein besonderes Anliegen sind

ihm aber auch die Bergbauern in seiner Heimat. Die

Landwirtschaft in den Bergen bezeichnet er als heilig,

denn es sind die Bergbauern, welche die Landschaft

pflegen, prägen und für die Gäste attraktiv gestalten.

Laut Messner sind Berggebiete heute nur noch dort

überlebensfähig, wo versucht wird Landwirtschaft,

Tourismus, Umwelt und Gesellschaft miteinander in

Einklang zu bringen. Denn wenn die Landwirtschaft

in den Bergen aufgegeben wird, dann werden laut

Messner auch andere Wirtschaftsformen, wie. z. B.

der Tourismus, dort verschwinden. Man kann auf

weitere Projekte gespannt sein, denn auch mit sei-

nen 67 Jahren macht Reinhold Messner noch lange

nicht den Anschein, sich zur Ruhe setzen zu wollen.

Zurzeit ist er mit seinen beiden Vorträgen „Passion

for Limits“ und „Die Dolomiten“ quer durch Deutsch-

land unterwegs.

della montagna non abbia ancora sentito parlare di

Reinhold Messner è infinitamente piccola. Da più di

30 anni egli è uno degli alpinisti di maggior successo

al mondo. Costantemente alla ricerca di nuove sfide,

è il primo uomo ad aver scalato tutte le 14 cime più

alte della Terra. Questa impresa audace è ampia-

mente riportata oltre i confini nazionali. Nel corso di

ogni spedizione egli ha osato una rischiosa escursio-

ne sul f ilo del rasoio, mettendo in pericolo – anche

se tutto calcolato – la propria vita. Reinhold Messner

ha cercato di porsi dei limiti, sempre comunque ten-

tando di capire le proprie capacità. Le sue spedizioni

sono state viste da molti come una continua ricerca

di nuove imprese rischiose. Ciò gli ha permesso ben

presto di avere fama di essere un uomo celebre e

di successo. Questo va a contrapporsi ai moderni

avventurieri quanto più i record sono ottenuti in in-

contaminate aree naturali con un minimo di attrez-

zatura. La vita di Messner è stata segnata anche da

numerose vicissitudini. Quella che ha creato proba-

bilmente più scalpore è stata la perdita del fratello

minore sul Nanga Parbat. Ma è stata proprio questa

grande mancanza che lo ha reso quello che oggi è.

In ogni momento dif f icile della sua vita, egli ha de-

ciso di compiere un ulteriore passo in avanti rispet-

to a ciò che avrebbe potuto fare senza resistenze e

senza problemi. Tanto quanto è attirato da habitat

naturali estremi del mondo, tanto più è semplice per

lui tornare in patria. Tra una spedizione e l’altra egli

vive con la sua famiglia a Merano e a Castel Juval

a Naturno, in Alto Adige. Di se stesso dice “Io sono

nel corpo e nell’anima altoatesino”. In Alto Adige

gestisce aziende agricole, alleva yak, un bue dell’A-

sia centrale, scrive libri e si dedica al suo progetto

museale “Messner Mountain Museum” ed alla fon-

dazione “Messner Mountain Foundation”. I suoi libri

sono bestseller e vengono tradotti in più di 24 lingue.

Anche se le autorità lo hanno ostacolato nella realiz-

zazione dei suoi musei, Messner ha mostrato tutta

la sua tenacia – esattamente come nel corso di una

salita di una cima dif f icile – e non è stato dissuaso


dalla sua idea. Rispetto agli ostacoli di ordine buro-

cratico che ha incontrato nel corso dei suoi progetti,

egli descrive le dif f icoltà e le sfide dell’alpinismo nel

corso della sua vita come insignif icanti. Con la pros-

sima apertura della quinta sede al Castello di Bruni-

co, Reinhold Messner ha completato il suo progetto

museale, che egli descrive come il suo 15 ottomila.

Ciascuno dei cinque musei si dedica ad un tema spe-

cif ico ed è inserito in un particolare contesto storico

e geografico. Il progetto rappresenta un’importante

attrazione turistica per l’Alto Adige nonché fulcro e

perno di una tematica senza eguali, il carattere mon-

diale delle culture. Nel Messner Mountain Museum,

Reinhold Messner regala al visitatore esperienze,

emozioni e storie legate al mondo dell’alpinismo.

Egli desidera mostrare ciò che ha imparato, grazie

alle numerose esperienze, in merito al rapporto tra

uomo e montagna. Si occupa del dialogo, delle sto-

rie comuni e del patrimonio culturale dell’alpinismo.

Nel suo mosaico “MMM” Messner dà al visitatore la

possibilità di af frontare il tema della montagna e del-

le culture straniere. Il quinto dei Messner Mountain

Museum al Castello di Brunico aprirà nell’estate 2011

ed è dedicato ai diversi popoli di montagna della Ter-

ra. Da quando nel 1970 semplici contadini del Nanga

Parbat gli salvarono la vita, egli si sente molto legato

con la gente del luogo. Di se stesso dice che in fondo

a suo cuore è sempre stato un contadino di monta-

gna e che lo è rimasto fino ad oggi. Anche con la sua

fondazione MMF egli sostiene gli abitanti delle valli

di tutto il mondo. Particolare attenzione rivolge, inol-

tre, ai contadini della sua patria. Egli definisce come

sacra l’agricoltura nelle montagne, in quanto sono

gli agricoltori di montagna che curano il paesaggio,

rendendolo ricco di fascino ai suoi ospiti. Secondo

Messner, le zone di montagna ancora oggi sono in

grado di sopravvivere dove si cerca di creare af fia-

tamento tra agricoltura, turismo, ambiente e società.

Perché se l’agricoltura nelle montagne viene abban-

donata, allora secondo Messner anche altre econo-

mie, come per esempio il turismo, scompariranno.

Interessante sarà assistere ad ulteriori progetti, in

quanto con i suoi 67 anni Reinhold Messner è ben

lungi dal voler andare in pensione. Attualmente egli è

in viaggio per la Germania con le sue due conferenze

“Passion for Limits” e “Die Dolomiten”.

theme of mountains has not heard of Reinhold Mess-

ner is incredibly small. For over 30 years he is one

of the most successful mountaineers in the world.

Constantly searching for new challenges , he was the

first person to scale all 14 of the highest peaks in the

world. This audacious task has been amply docu-

mented far and wide. In the course of each expedition

he pushed himself to the limit, and even though well

calculated, put his very life at risk. Reinhold Mess-

ner always tried to put limits on his undertakings,

yet always extended them to test his capabilities. His

expeditions were looked on by many as a continuing

search of risky undertakings, allowing him to gain

fame and success. This runs contrary to most mod-

ern adventurers because Messner’s records were

obtained in untamed areas with the bare minimum of

equipment. The life of Messner is also scarred with

numerous setbacks. The one that caused the biggest

stir was that of the death of his younger brother on

Nanga Parbat. Yet it was this great loss that made

him the man he is today. In every dif f icult moment

of his life, he decided to take another step forward

beyond his normal limits. As he was attracted to a

natural and extreme habitat it was very easy for him

to return to his native land. Between one expedition

and another he lives with his family in Merano and

at Castel Juval in Naturno in South Tyrol. Of himself

he says “ I am South Tyrolean body and soul”. In

South Tyrol he manages a farm and raises yak from

Central Asia, writes books and is dedicated to his

museum project “Messner Mountain Museum” and

the foundation “Messner Mountain Foundation”. His

books are bestsellers and are translated in over 24

languages. Even though the authorities put obsta-

cles in his path to create his museums, due to his

tenacity – exactly the same used during a dif f icult

ascent on a challenging mountain— he was never

dissuaded from his idea. He came up against such

bureaucratic obstacles during the course of his pro-

ject that he considers his alpine challenges as in-

signif icant in comparison. With the next opening of

his 5th location in the Castle of Brunico, Reinhold

Messner has completed his museum project that he

describes as his 15th 8,000 metre ascent. Each of

the five museums are dedicated to a specific theme

inserted into a particular historical and geographical

context. The project is an important tourist attraction

as well as an unequalled central theme-- the world

view of culture. In the Messner Mountain Museum,

Reinhold Messner of fers the visitor experiences,

emotions and stories relating to the world of moun-

taineering. He wants to show what he has learned,

Der 15. Achttausender: MMM - Messner Mountain Museum „Das Messner Mountain Muse-um ist eine Begegnungsstätte mit dem Berg, mit der Mensch-heit und letztlich auch mit sich selbst.“ Reinhold Messner

Jahrzehntelang hat Reinhold Mess-

ner an den äußersten Rändern der

Erde Erfahrungen gesammelt, die er

in seiner Museumskette zum Thema

Berg, dem Messner Mountain Muse-

um, mit den Besuchern teilen möch-

te. Mit der Eröffnung des fünften

Sitzes auf Schloss Bruneck im Som-

mer 2011, vervollständigt er seinen

„15. Achtausender“. Jedes der fünf

Museen ist einem ganz spezifischen

Thema gewidmet. Das Museums-

mosaik vermittelt eine Gesamtheit

des Alpinismus, welche 1786 mit der

Besteigung des Mont Blanc begann.

MMM Firmian, Bozen

Das MMM Firmian auf Schloss Sig-

mundskron bei Bozen ist das Herz-

stück des Messner Moutain Mu-

seums. Hier wird die Verbindung

zwischen Mensch und Berg thema-

tisiert. Jedes Jahr beherbergt das

Museum zudem auch eine Sonder-

ausstellung. Das Angebot wird durch

zahlreiche Vorträge sowie durch

Veranstaltungen mit Musik, Tanz und

Theater abgerundet.

MMM Ortles, Sulden

„Der Besucher geht förmlich in den Berg hinein.“ Reinhold Messner

Das auf 1900 Metern gelegene

MMM in Sulden am Ortler ist un-

terirdisch angelegt. Es liegt unmit-

telbar unter den Eisfeldern und Sé-

racs des Ortlers und ist dem Thema

„Eis“ gewidmet. Der Besucher er-

hält einen Einblick in Skilauf, Eis-

klettern und Polfahrten und erfährt

viel über die Gefahren, die das Eis

in sich birgt. Des Weiteren besteht

die Möglichkeit, die weltweit größ-

te Sammlung von Ortler-Bildern zu

bewundern. Im angrenzenden Re-

staurant Yak&Yeti können die Süd-

tiroler Küche sowie Gerichte aus

dem Schneeland Himalaja probiert

werden.

MMM Dolomites, Cibiana di Cadore

„Am Monte Rite, südlich von Cortina, galt es, einer militäri-schen Anlage aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg einen neuen Inhalt zu geben.“ Reinhold Messner

Das MMM Dolomites liegt zwi-

schen Pieve di Cadore und Cortina

d’Ampezzo im Herzen der Dolomi-

ten. Aufgrund seines atemberau-

benden 360° Ausblickes auf die

spektakulärsten Dolomitengipfel,

wird es auch als das „Museum in

den Wolken“ bezeichnet. Gewid-

met ist es dem Thema „Fels“. Es

erzählt die Erschließungsgeschichte

der Dolomiten und beherbergt eine

große Galerie einmaliger Dolomiten-

Bilder. Jährlich finden zudem zahl-

reiche Sonderausstellungen statt.

MMM Juval, Kastelbell

„Juval ist der Versuch, lokale und exotische Kultur, bodenständige Landwirtschaft und Tourismus miteinander zu verzahnen. Ein Ausflug nach Juval ist ein Tages-erlebnis.“ Reinhold Messner

Messners Privatschloss, das Schloss

Juval bei Naturns im Vinschgau, ist

dem Mythos „Berg“ gewidmet. Hier

sind mehrere Kunstsammlungen un-

tergebracht, wie z. B. eine umfang-

reiche Tibetika Sammlung, eine Berg-

bildgalerie und eine Maskensammlung

aus fünf Kontinenten. Zum Schloss

Juval gehört auch das Weingut „Un-

terortl“ und der Biohof „Oberortl“,

deren Produkte im „Schlosswirt“ ver-

köstigt werden können. Die Idee hinter

diesem Gesamtkonzept ist es, diese

kleinräumige Südtiroler Kulturland-

schaft zu erhalten und zu beleben.

MMM Ripa, Bruneck

Nach längeren Restaurierungsar-

beiten auf Schloss Bruneck, wird

im Sommer 2011 das fünfte Mess-

ner Mountain Museum zum Thema

„Bergvölker“ eröffnet. Unzählige Ex-

ponate zeigen die Lebensweisen der

wichtigsten Bergkulturen der Welt

auf, wie z. B. der Sherpa, Indios,

Tibeter, Walser, Mongolen, Hunza

usw. Gemeinsam mit Gästen aus

den verschiedenen Bergregionen will

Messner zum Erfahrungsaustausch

anregen und dem Besucher die

Möglichkeit geben, einen Einblick in

gna, il Messner Mountain Museum.

Con l’apertura nell’estate 2011 della

quinta sede al Castello di Brunico,

egli ha completato il suo 15 ottomila.

Ciascuno dei cinque musei è dedica-

to ad un tema specifico. Il mosaico

del museo offre una visione d’insie-

me dell’alpinismo, che ebbe inizio

nel 1786 con la scalata del Monte

Bianco. Ad attendere gli spettatori

no, vicino a Bolzano, è il cuore del

Messner Mountain Museum. Qui

ta, il MMM è stato allestito in una

moderna struttura sotterranea. Si

Il MMM Dolomites sorge nel cuore

delle Dolomiti, tra Pieve di Cadore e

Cortina d’Ampezzo. Per la sua me-

ravigliosa vista a 360° sulle spet-

tacolari cime delle Dolomiti, viene

chiamato anche “Museo nelle nu-

vole”. Il museo è dedicato al tema

“roccia”. Racconta la storia dell’e-

splorazione delle Dolomiti e ospita

una grande galleria con quadri e

opere rappresentanti le Dolomiti.

Ogni anno viene allestita una mo-

stra temporanea.

MMM Juval, Castelbello

“Juval è il tentativo di collegare l’una con l’altra cultura locale ed esotica, agricoltura autoctona e turismo. Una visita a Juval è un’e-sperienza da vivere.” Reinhold Messner

Castel Juval, castello privato di

Messner, nei pressi di Naturno, in

Val Venosta, è dedicato al mito della

“montagna”. Qui sono ospitate diver-

se collezioni, come per esempio una

ricca collezione di cimeli tibetani, una

raccolta di dipinti con vedute delle

grandi montagne sacre e una collezio-

ne di maschere provenienti da cinque

continenti. Fa parte di Castel Juval

anche l’azienda agricola “Unterortl” e

il maso agricolo biologico “Oberortl”,

i cui prodotti possono essere gustati

presso lo “Schlosswirt”. L’idea di base

di tale concetto consiste nel conser-

vare e ravvivare questo piccolo tesoro

storico-naturalistico dell’Alto Adige.

MMM Ripa, Brunico

Dopo lunghi lavori di restauro del Ca-

stello di Brunico, nell’estate 2011 verrà

inaugurato il quinto Messner Mountain

Museum dal tema “i popoli delle mon-

tagne”. Numerosi reperti mostrano gli

stili di vita delle più importanti popo-

lazioni di montagna, come per esem-

pio gli sherpa, i tibetani, i mongoli, gli

hunza, ecc. Insieme agli ospiti prove-

nienti da diverse regioni di montagna,

Messner desidera incoraggiare lo

scambio di esperienze e dare al visi-

tatore la possibilità di ottenere una vi-

sione d’insieme delle culture straniere.

For decades Reinhold Messner has

gathered experiences that he wants

to convey to the visitor from the ex-

treme corners of the earth in the se-

ries of museums dedicated to the

mountains, the Messner Mountain

Museums. With the opening of the 5th

museum in the Brunico Castle in the

summer of 2011, he has completed

his 15th 8,000 metre ascent. Each

one of the five museums is dedicated

to a specific theme. The mosaic of the

museum offers a vision of the cohe-

siveness of mountaineering that was

initiated in 1786 with the ascent of Mt.

Bianco. Awaiting visitors are experi-

ences, emotions and stories linked

with the world of mountaineering.

Messner Mountain Museum. Here

the themes concerning the moun-

year the museum hosts a temporary

In the town of Solda, at 1900 me-

tres, the MMM has been created in

a modern underground structure. It

is in the immediate vicinity of a Gla-

cier and the crevices of Ortles and is

dedicated to the theme “ice”. The vis-

itor will get an idea of the world of ski-

ing, of climbing on the ice, on expedi-

tions to the poles and learn about the

inherent perils of ice. At the nearby

kitchen of the maso Yak&Yeti you can

taste South Tyrolean and Himalayan

specialties.

MMM Dolomites is in the heart of

the Dolomites, between Pieve di

Cadore and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

For its marvellous 360° view on the

spectacular peaks of the Dolomites,

it is called “Museum of the Clouds”.

The museum is dedicated to the

theme “rock”. It tells the story of

the exploration the Dolomites and

hosts a large gallery with paintings

and works of art depicting the Dolo-

mites. Each year a temporary exhi-

bition is on display.

MMM Juval, Castelbello

Castel Juval, the private castle

of Messner, near Naturno, in Val

Venosta, is dedicated to the myth

of the “mountain”. On display are a

collection of Tibetan relics, a series

of paintings with views of the great

sacred mountains and a collection of

masks coming from five continents.

The project also encompasses the

agricultural enterprise “Unterortl”,

the biological maso (mountain farm)

“Oberortl” and the products can be

tasted at Schlosswirt”. The idea is

based on the concept of conserving

and rejuvenating the historical, rural

and natural treasure that makes up

South Tyrol.

MMM Ripa, Brunico

After long restoration of the Bruni-

co Castle, the fifth Messner Muse-

um will be inaugurated in the sum-

mer of 2011 with the theme “the

mountain populations”. Numerous

artefacts will show the lifestyle of

the principal mountain people, for

example the Sherpas, Tibetans,

Mongols, Hunza and others. To-

gether with the guests from dif-

ferent mountain regions, Messner

wants to encourage the exchange

of experiences and give visitors

the chance to gain a unified vision

of foreign culture.

PAST & PRESENTSüdtirol ist heute ein Paradies

für Golfer, doch Golf hat hierzu-

lande bereits eine über 100-jäh-

rige Tradition. Am Karersee, am

Mendelpass und in Meran haben

sich die Adeligen, Schönen und

Reichen in herrlicher Landschaft

beim Golfen eingefunden – und,

wer weiß, vielleicht sogar Welt-

politik gemacht. 1886 wurde das

Grandhotel Carezza feierlich er-

öffnet. Bereits 1904 wurde dann

am Fuße des Rosengartens der

erste Golfplatz errichtet. In Meran

kam der Golfsport 1891 durch den

russischen Großfürsten Michael

in Mode. 1927 wagte schließlich

auch der Luftkurort Mendel die

Eröffnung eines Golfplatzes. Heu-

te ist Golf längst kein Nischen-

sport mehr. Golfbegeisterte kön-

nen in Südtirol auf engstem Raum

unter 7 bestens gepflegten Plät-

zen wählen.

zione ultracentenaria per quel

che riguarda il golf. Già alla f ine

dell’Ottocento, infatti, i ricchi

nobili si trovavano a praticarlo

al Passo Carezza, sulla Mendo-

la e a Merano, approfittando del

panorama inimitabile e, proba-

bilmente, cogliendo l’occasione

per fare af fari e discutere di po-

litica. L’inaugurazione, nel 1886,

del Grand Hotel Carezza attirò

aristocratici di tutta Europa; otto

anni più tardi venne inaugurato il

primo campo da golf al Passo di

Carezza. A Merano già nel 1891 il

principe Michael di Russia si di-

lettava in questo sport. Nel 1927,

ne fu inaugurato uno anche alla

Mendola. Oggi il golf non è più

uno sport di nicchia ma, come al-

lora, l’Alto Adige costituisce una

meta elitaria grazie alla bellezza

dei suoi paesaggi.

South Tyrol is a real paradise

for golfers today but golf has been

popular in South Tyrol for more

than one hundred years. No-

bles and VIPs have gathered for

golf in the middle of marvellous

landscapes at Carezza lake, at

the Mendola Pass and in Merano

since then and maybe they have

also taken important political de-

cisions here – who knows? The

Grandhotel Carezza was inaugu-

rated in 1896. In 1904, the first

golf course was established at

the feet of the Catinaccio.In Mer-

ano, golf became popular in 1891

thanks to the Russian grand duke.

In 1927, the climatic health resort

of Mendola also decided to open

a golf course. Today golf enthusi-

asts can choose between 7 well

tended golf courses in South Tyrol

that are all situated close to each

other. >

bunkers increases before hole no. 9 which is

also called the “fox’s den”: only with a precise

golf stroke will you be able to overcome a dif-

ference in altitude of 25 m. We dispose of 35

in Europe, is situated in the middle of unspoilt

nature at the feet of the Marmolada and the

Sassongher and distinguishes itself by minimal

altitude differences and its extremely sunny lo-

cation. If you want to test your skills, try hole

no. 9, the most challenging of all holes as it

requires long and well aimed strokes.

gehören auch ein Rollband, welches die Spieler von 17.

Grün zum 18. Abschlag bringen sowie die kleinste Schie-

nenbahn Südtirols, die den Parkplatz mit dem Clubhaus

verbindet. Eine weltweite Neuigkeit ist auch eine Schran-

ke die den Start reguliert um ein Auflaufen zu verzögern.

Für die 35 Carts sind die Wege alle asphaltiert und ideal

angelegt. Zu einem erfolgreichen Golfplatz gehört auch

eine gut funktionierende Golfschule. Diese wird seit Jah-

ren vom international bekannten Head-Pro Gordon Hume

aus Schottland geführt. Im Golfclub Passeier.Meran ist

das Golfen bei weitem nicht alles, was Golfer schätzen.

Die Stimmung im Clubhaus ist weit über Meran hinaus

bekannt. Gastfreundschaft wird hier groß geschrieben.

le è rappresentata, inoltre, da un ostacolo che regola il

Wenn im schönen Passeiertal Golf gespielt wird, dann hat man dies vor allem einem erfolgreichen Unternehmer und Golfverrückten zu verdanken.

Bereits im Sommer 1990 hatte der Unternehmer (Edel-

hölzer) Karl Pichler die Idee in seiner Heimat, dem Passei-

ertal einen Golfplatz zu errichten. Pichler suchte den Kon-

takt zur Bevölkerung und zu Grundstückseigentümern,

um diese auf Golf zu sensibilisieren. Getrieben von seiner

Überzeugung und von der Gewissheit, dass der Golfsport

für Südtirol und vor allem für die wirtschaftliche Lage sei-

nes Heimattales wichtig wäre, kämpfte Karl Pichler jah-

relang. Schlussendlich konnte er sowohl das Vertrauen

der Bauern, als auch die Zustimmung

der Gemeindepolitik für eine 9-Loch-An-

lage gewinnen. Der daraufhin errichtete

9-Loch-Platz übertraf alle Erwartungen.

Man erkannte, wie wichtig Golf im Pas-

seiertal für den treibenden Wirtschafts-

zweig, den Tourismus, einzuschätzen ist

und gleichzeitig eine geeignete Freizeit-

beschäftigung für Jung und Alt darstellt.

So entschied Pichler weitere Gründe an-

zupachten um seine Vision „den schöns-

ten Golfplatz zwischen dem Brenner und

dem Gardasee“ verwirklichen zu können.

Es dauerte nicht lange und der bereits für

das 9-Loch-Projekt beauftragte Golfar-

chitekt Wilfried Moroder konnte mit der

Planung der 18-Loch-Anlage beginnen.

In eineinhalb jähriger Bautätigkeit wurde

die ursprüngliche 9-Loch-Anlage nicht nur ergänzt, nein es

entstand im Jahre 2004 ein komplett neuer Golfplatz mit 7

Seen, 500 neuen Bäumen, bunte Blumengärten inmitten

herrlicher Almwiesen.

Già nell’estate 1990, l’imprenditore (di legno pregiato)

Karl Pichler aveva l’idea di creare nella sua terra natale,

la Val Passiria, un campo da golf. Al fine di sensibilizzare

l’opinione verso il gioco del golf, Pichler cercò proprietari di

terreni. Spinto dalla convinzione e dalla certezza che per

l’Alto Adige il golf sarebbe stato importante soprattutto per

l’economia della sua valle, Karl Pichler lottò per anni. Alla

fine riuscì a guadagnarsi la fiducia sia dei contadini sia dei

politici locali per creare un campo a 9 buche, che superò

tutte le aspettative. Si riconobbe come il golf in Val Passiria

fosse importante per il settore economico e il turismo e allo

stesso tempo come questa disciplina costituisse un pas-

satempo ideale per grandi e per piccini. Così Pichler deci-

se di iniziare per poter realizzare la sua visione, vale a dire

“il più bel campo da golf tra il Brennero e il Lago di Garda”.

Non passò molto tempo e già si concretizzò il progetto per

le 9 buche del golf designer incaricato Wilfried Moroder

con la pianificazione di un campo a 18 buche. In un anno e

mezzo di costruzione, il campo iniziale a 9 buche non solo

venne completato, ma nel 2004 nacque

un campo da golf completamente nuovo

con 7 laghi, 500 nuovi alberi e giardini va-

riopinti nella splendida cornice dei prati di

montagna.

If you play golf in the beautiful Val Passiria, it is mostly thanks to a successful businessman and ex-traordinary golfer.

Back in the summer of 1990, the

entrepreneur Karl Pichler had the in-

spiration to create a golf course in his

native area, Val Passiria. He wanted to

influence the public opinion on golf, so

Pichler went searching for landowners.

Driven by the belief and conviction that

golf in South Tyrol would be important for his valley’s

economy, Karl Pichler fought for many years. In the end

he was able to gain the trust of farmers and local politi-

cians and create a 9-hole course, exceeding all expec-

tations. It was finally recognized how golf in Val Passiria

was important for the economic sector and for tourism,

as well as being a great pastime for young and old.

Pichler decided to draw up the project for his vision:

“The most beautiful golf course between Brenner and

Lake Garda”. Not long after, the project for a 9-hole golf

course designed by Wilfred Moroder was completed,

with plans for an 18-hole course. In a year and a half

of construction, the initial 9-hole course not only was

completed, but in 2004 a brand-new golf course was

inaugurated with 7 lakes, 500 new trees and colourful

gardens among mountain meadows. ◊

1896 verkauft die Familie Rung-

galdier in altehrwürdiger Tradition

fung. Unser Roadbook: Jaufenpass

– St. Leonhard im Passeier – Saltaus

– Schenna. Der linke Arm hat gut zu

tun. Das Schaltgetriebe aber auch.

Der Rechtslenker hat zwei entschei-

dende Vorteile: Entweder direkt am

Fels entlang oder immer ganz nah an

der Kante. Der Blick kitzelt die Ner-

ven. Beruhigend zu wissen, dass wir

gleich die Passhöhe auf 2.094 Meter

erreichen und eine Espressopause

einlegen werden, bevor wir unseren

„Ritt” über die 31 Kilometer lange

Scheitelstrecke fortsetzen.

Auf unserer Genusstour durch das

Oldtimerparadies Südtirol heißt un-

ser erstes Ziel Schenna. Die Jau-

fenpassstraße liegt hinter uns, dass

Passeiertal vor uns. St. Leonhard

ist bald passiert. Für Andreas Hofer,

den berühmten Sohn des Ortes, ha-

ben wir heute keine Zeit. In diesem

Sinne nehmen wir uns die Freiheit

und kämpfen uns ohne Pause bis

Schenna. Unser Ziel ist jährlicher

Startpunkt der Südtirol Classic Ral-

lye, die 2011 im Juli zum 26-mal ge-

fahren wird. Wir parken auf der Dorf-

straße und unser silbergrauer Jaguar

ist sofort der Hingucker. Auf einer

Café-Terrasse mit Blick auf Schloss

Schenna schreiben wir weiter an un-

serem Bericht. Die Südtirol Classic

verbindet Leidenschaft und Land-

schaft auf perfekte Weise.

Und manchmal wissen die Teilneh-

mer wahrscheinlich selbst nicht, für

welches Ereignis ihre Herzen höher

schlagen: Für ihr „Schätzchen” oder

für Südtirol. So oder so: Teilnahme-

berechtigt sind bei der Südtirol Clas-

sic ordnungsgemäß zugelassene

Veteranen-Fahrzeuge bis Baujahr

1965. Vier Routen werden gefahren.

Start ist jeweils Schenna. Highlight

der ersten Tour ist das Villnösstal;

Reinhold Messner stammt aus die-

sem Tal. Den kann man hier aber

nur selten antreffen. Dafür aber ganz

sicher die Geislerspitzen sehen.

Tour zwei führt durch das idyllische

Ultental. Wälder, Almen, Berghöfe.

Noch so ein Südtiroler Paradies für

den ultimativen Oldtimerfreund. Die

dritte Rundfahrt ist den Dolomiten

gewidmet. Vier Pässe sind hier zu

bezwingen. Hat der Klassikfan alle

vier gut hinter sich und sein Gefährt

gebracht, stimmt es ihn glücklich, als

habe er ein Quadrifoglio gefunden.

Tour Nummer vier führt wiederum in

ein Tal und wieder heraus. Es geht

durch das Cembratal, durch Wein-

gärten und an Seen vorbei.

An dieser Stelle steigen wir aus; aus

unserem Jaguar und aus der Südtirol

Classic Rallye. Denn unser azurblau-

er Fiat Spider 124 steht schon mit

offenem Verdeck bereit. Wir planen

einen Abstecher in die Dolomiten.

Unser Roadbook: Bruneck – Toblach

– Cortina – Araba – Corvara – Brun-

eck. Eine von zahlreichen Möglich-

keiten, eine willkürliche Wahl, eine

wunderschöne Fahrt in die Wunder-

welt der Dolomiten. Die gehören seit

2009 zum UNESCO-Weltnaturerbe.

Wunderschön waren sie aber vorher

schon. Die Rundtour erledigen wir im

Spider ohne Zwischenstopp. Schließ-

lich wartet noch der weinrote 280 SL

auf seinen Einsatz. >


Die Südtiroler Weinstraße soll es

sein. Die Strecke ist etwas Beson-

deres für Genussfahrer. Und der

„Weinrote” wird sich hier ganz sicher

besonders wohlfühlen. Wir starten

nachmittags in Bozen, wollen heute

noch bis Margreid. Den Kalterer See

können wir schon recht bald vor uns

sehen. Doch zunächst ist eine Fahrt

hinauf auf den Mendelpass Pflicht.

Hier findet seit 2007 wieder eines

der interessantesten Bergrennen der

Klassikszene statt: Die Mendel His-

tory. Offenkundig war das mehr als

20-jährige Schweigen der Motoren

entlang der legendären Kehren für

die Motoristi unerträglich geworden.

Zwischenstopp auf dem Pass. Der

Ausblick ist schon paradiesisch zu

nennen. Unsere Pause fällt aber

kurz aus. Wieder im Tal, geht es an

malerischen Weinorten vorbei und

hindurch. Weinberge wohin das Ca-

briofahrerauge blickt. So darf man

sich das Paradies vorstellen. Hinter

Tramin steigt die Weinstraße leicht

an, verläuft aber stets auf einer Hö-

henlinie parallel zum Tal der Etsch.

Das Ortsschild Margreid markiert

unser Ziel.

Aufgepasst, gleich geht es scharf

rechter Hand hinein in den Ort. We-

nig später sitzen wir in einem idylli-

schen Innenhof. Der „Weinrote” und

der Rote vor uns im Glas funkeln in

der Spätnachmittagsonne um die

Wette. >

L’Alto Adige ha tutto ciò che gli ap-

passionati di auto d'epoca deside-

rano: le curve più belle, spettacolari

passi di montagna, meravigliosi sce-

nari, splendide valli, laghi dall’acqua

cristallina, manieri, castelli, storiche

città e paesi. Unico è il clima medi-

terraneo, che rende l’Alto Adige il

paradiso per i nostalgici maghi delle

curve. Chiudiamo gli occhi e imma-

giniamoci quali rotte percorreremo,

in quali auto e in quale ordine. Ri-

torniamo con la mente ai 125 anni

di storia automobilistica ed abbiamo

l’imbarazzo della scelta. Noi optia-

mo per una Jaguar ss 100, anno di

fabbricazione 1934, canna di fucile e

con la guida a destra, una Fiat Spider

124, anno di fabbricazione 1982, az-

zurro metallico e, infine, per una Mer-

cedes Benz 280 SL bordò, anno di

fabbricazione 1963, soprannominata

Pagoda.

Ci avviciniamo al paradiso delle auto

d’epoca dell’Alto Adige su uno dei

classici percorsi. La nostra Jaguar ss

100 è pronta, e noi pure, per il primo

collaudo in montagna. Il nostro per-

corso: Passo Giovo – San Leonar-

do in Passiria – Saltusio – Scena. Il

braccio sinistro ha il suo bel da fare.

La trasmissione manuale pure. Il

braccio destro ha due vantaggi fon-

damentali: o direttamente lungo la

roccia o sempre vicino al bordo. La

vista stuzzica i nervi. Rassicura sa-

pere che raggiungeremo l’altezza di

2.094 e che faremo una pausa caffé

prima di continuare il nostro “giro”

sui 31 chilometri del percorso ad alta

quota.

Scena è la nostra prima meta sul no-

stro tour lungo il paradiso delle auto

d’epoca dell’Alto Adige. Lasciata la

strada del Passo Giovo, davanti a noi

si estende la Val Passiria. San Leo-

nardo è già dietro le nostre spalle.

Per Andreas Hofer, molto conosciuto

in paese, oggi non abbiamo tempo.

Quindi, proseguiamo senza sosta

fino a Scena. La nostra meta è ogni

anno il punto di partenza del Südti-

rol Classic Rally, che nel luglio 2011

si svolge per la 26a volta. Parcheg-

giamo lungo la strada del paese e la

nostra Triumph giallo canarino non

passa certo inosservata. Sulla ter-

razza di un café con vista sul Castel-

lo di Scena continuiamo a scrivere la

nostra relazione. Il Südtirol Classic

unisce alla perfezione passione e pa-

esaggio.

E qualche volta i partecipanti non

sanno neppure per cosa il loro cuo-

re batta: per il loro “piccolo tesoro”

o per l’Alto Adige. In entrambi i casi,

nel Südtirol Classic sono di norma

autorizzati a partecipare veterani di

automobili fabbricate fino all’anno

1965. Quattro percorsi sono anda-

ti. Ogni volta la partenza è a Scena.

Highlight del primo tour è la Val di

Funes; Reinhold Messner viene da

questa valle. Lo si può incontrare

solo raramente. Ma quel che è certo

è che si vedono le Odle. Il secondo

tour conduce attraverso l’idilliaca

Val d’Ultimo. Boschi, pascoli, masi.

Ancora un altro paradiso dell’Alto

Adige per gli amici delle auto d’epo-

ca. Il terzo percorso è dedicato alle

Dolomiti. Sono da superare quattro

passi. L’appassionato di Classic Car

ha tutti e quattro dietro le sue spal-

le e il suo veicolo. Ciò lo rende felice

come se avesse trovato un quadrifo-

glio. Il tour numero quattro conduce

nuovamente in una valle e viceversa.

Esso attraversa la Valle di Cembra,

vigneti e laghi.

A questo punto possiamo scende-

re dalla nostra Jaguar. La nostra Fiat

Spider 124 azzurra è già pronta con

la capotta abbassata. Progettiamo

un viaggio nelle Dolomiti. Il nostro per-

corso: Brunico – Dobbiaco – Cortina

– Arabba – Corvara – Brunico. Una tra

le innumerevoli possibilità, una scelta

volontaria, un meraviglioso viaggio nel

magico mondo delle Dolomiti, che dal

2009 sono patrimonio naturale dell’U-

NESCO. Splendide lo erano già prima

di questo riconoscimento. Faremo il

tour in Spider senza effettuare ferma-

te intermedie. Infine, la bordò 280 SL

aspetta ancora il suo turno.

Adesso tocca alla strada del vino

dell’Alto Adige. Il percorso è davvero un

piacere per la guida. E la “bordò” qui si

sentirà sicuramente speciale. Partiamo

il pomeriggio da Bolzano e ancora oggi

vogliamo arrivare fino a Magrè. Possia-

mo già scorgere davanti a noi il Lago di

Caldaro. Ma prima facciamo una pun-

tata al Passo Mendola. Qui dal 2007 si

svolge di nuovo una delle più interes-

santi corse d’auto in salita: la Mendel

History. Ovviamente gli oltre 20 anni di

silenzio dei motori lungo i leggendari

tornanti era diventato proprio insoppor-

tabile per gli amanti dei motori.

Fermata intermedia al passo. La vista è

paradisiaca. La nostra pausa è breve.

Ritorniamo di nuovo a valle, attraversia-

mo e passiamo tra i pittoreschi vigne-

ti verso i quali si dirige lo sguardo del

guidatore della cabrio. Così possiamo

immaginare il paradiso. La strada del

vino sorge leggermente a ridosso di

Termeno, corre sempre su una linea

parallela verso la Val d’Adige. Il cartello

Magrè indica la nostra meta.

Attenzione, si procede a tutta dritta

dentro il paese. Poco dopo ci sediamo

in un idilliaco patio. Davanti a noi sul ve-

tro lo scintillio della “bordò” e del rosso

sotto il sole del tardo pomeriggio per

correre la gara. >

South Tyrol has everything a vin-

tage car enthusiast could ask for: the

best curves in the road, spectacular

mountain passes, marvellous pano-

ramas, splendid valleys, crystal clear

lakes, manor houses, castles, his-

torical towns and cities. The unique

Mediterranean climate makes South

Tyrol a paradise for these curve-

craving cars. Let’s close our eyes

and imagine which route we will take,

in which car and in what order. 125

years of auto history come to mind

and we are spoilt for choice. We de-

cide on a Jaguar ss 100, built in 1934,

silver-grey with a right-hand drive, a

Fiat Spider 124, built in 1982, metallic

blue, and to complete the trio, a bor-

deaux Mercedes Benz 280 SL built

in 1963, nicknamed Pagoda.

We get one step closer to this Tyrole-

an paradise in one of the classic cir-

cuits. Our silver-grey Jaguar is ready,

and we are too, for our first test drive

in the mountains. The route: Giovo

Pass – San Leonardo in Passiria –

Saltusio – Scena. The left arm will

have work to do. The view tingles the

nerves. Its exhilarating to know we

will reach the altitude of 2.094 me-

ters and we will have a stop for a cof-

fee before continuing our tour of 31

kilometres on a high altitude course.

Scena is the first point of our tour

along the paradise for vintage cars

in South Tyrol. After leaving the road

of the Giovo Pass, the Val Passiria

extends before us. San Leonardo is

already behind us and we continue

without a stop all the way back to

Scena. Our destination is the yearly

starting point for the Südtirol Classic

Rally, that will mark its 26th edition

in July 2011. We park on the street

and our silver-grey Jaguar doesn’t

pass unnoticed. On a café terrace

of a with a view of the Scena Castle

we take notes. The Südtirol Classic

unites passion and panorama seam-

lessly.

Sometimes participants don’t know

what makes their heart beats fast-

er… is it their “vintage beauty” or is it

South Tyrol? Whatever the case, the

Südtirol Classic authorises veterans

to participate if they own a car built

no later than 1965. Four fantastic

tours: each one departs from Scena.

The highlight of the first tour is Val

di Funes; the mountaineer Reinhold

Messner comes from this valley. You

can meet him only rarely, but one

thing is certain, you will encounter

Oldle- the mountain. The second

tour takes you through the idyllic Val

d’Ultimo. Forests, meadows, farm-

houses… yet another paradise for

vintage car lovers. The third course

is dedicated to the Dolomites. You

will have to go through 4 mountain

passes. Now, with all four behind

you, you’re as happy as if you had

just found a four-leaf clover. Tour

number four takes you down a valley

and back again. This one is the Valley

of Cembra, with vineyards and lakes.

Now we can take a spin on our Jag-

uar. Our blue Fiat Spider 124 is all

ready with the top down. We plan

our trip in the Dolomites. Our route:

Brunico – Dobbiaco – Cortina –

Arabba – Corvara – Brunico. One of

the many possibilities, a free choice,

a marvellous trip in the magical world

of the Dolomites that became a nat-

ural UNESCO World Heritage site in

2009. Truly majestic. We take a tour

in the spider without stops. Now the

bordeaux 280 SL awaits its turn.

Next it’s time to visit the wine road

of South Tyrol. The course is a true

pleasure to drive, and the “bordeaux”

will surely feel special here. We leave

Bolzano in the afternoon and our

destination is Magrè. We can see

Caldaro Lake in front of us, but first

we make a stop at Mendola Pass.

Since 2007 there is an interesting

auto circuit uphill: the Mendel Histo-

ry. For over 20 years these legendary

switchbacks never heard the sound

of motors— it was a real hardship for

car enthusiasts.

A stop at the pass. The view is like

paradise; our stop is brief. We return

to the valley through picturesque

vineyards and we look at the driver

of the convertible. This is how we

imagine heaven. The wine road runs

alongside Termeno in a parallel line

towards the Adige Valley. The sign-

post for Magrè is our destination.

Slowly, we proceed directly into the

town, a bit later we sit down in an

idyllic patio. In front of us we see

the sparkle of the bordeaux car as it

“competes” with the red of the wine

under the sun of the late afternoon. ◊

Die Hauptstadt Südtirols ist für ihre unzähligen Bouti-

quen, Restaurants, Märkte und Gourmetläden weit über

die Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannt und lockt Tag für

Tag Besucher aus Nah und Fern an. Neben einem Ein-

kaufsbummel oder einer kulinarischen Entdeckungsreise

durch die Stadt, sollte man aber auch kulturelle Highlights

nicht verpassen. Im Archäologiemuseum kann einer der

wohl bekanntesten Südtiroler besucht werden, die Glet-

schermumie Ötzi, welche vor 20 Jahren vom ewigen Eis

der Ötztaler Alpen freigegeben wurde. In der Sonderaus-

stellung „[life.science/fiction.reality]= Ötzi 20“ werden die

neusten wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse beleuchtet so-

wie Kuriositäten und interessante Vermarktungsideen rund

um den Mann aus dem Eis vorgestellt. Viel Interessantes

hat auch das Merkantilmuseum zu bieten, wo die Wirt-

schaftsgeschichte Bozens mit einer umfassenden Samm-

lung von Dokumenten, Gemälden und Einrichtungsgegen-

ständen aus dem 17. und 18. Jh. erzählt wird. Aber auch

die Liebhaber von zeitgenössischer Kunst, Architektur und

neuen Medien kommen in der Hauptstadt auf ihre Kosten,

z. B. im Museion, einem Museum für moderne und zeitge-

nössische Kunst oder im ar/ge kunst Galerie Museum. Am

besten lernt man Bozen mit all seinen kulturellen Schätzen

und Sehenswürdigkeiten sicherlich bei einem geführten

Stadtrundgang oder einem Kulturausflug kennen. Abge-

rundet wird das facettenreiche Angebot der Hauptstadt

durch eine Vielzahl an Veranstaltungshighlights.

Per i suoi molteplici ristoranti, boutique, mercati e nego-

zi gourmet, il capoluogo dell’Alto Adige è conosciuto ben

anche il Museo Mercantile, dove vie-

ne raccontata la storia economica di

Bolzano con una raccolta completa

di documenti, dipinti e arredi del XVII

e del XVIII sec. Ma anche gli amanti

di arte contemporanea, architettura e

nuovi media troveranno nel capoluo-

go ciò che fa al caso loro, come per

esempio, nel Museion, Museo d’Arte

Moderna e Contemporanea, oppure

presso l’Ar/Ge Kunst Galleria Museo.

Anblick eines verwunschenen Schlosses, eines versteck-

ten stillen Winkels oder der überschwellenden Blütenpracht

entlang einer der vielen Promenaden Schmetterlinge im

Bauch verspüren, könnte es auch nur einfach das ganz

besondere Flair dieser Stadt sein... Romantiker sollten sich

einen Spaziergang über die Gilfpromenade nicht entgehen

lassen. Vorbei an vielen dieser verwunschenen Ansitze mit

herrlich stillen Winkeln, vorbei an herrschaftlichen Villen

und alten Parkanlagen führt der „Sissi-Weg“ auf den Spu-

ren der österreichischen Kaiserin quer durch Meran. Die

populäre österreichische Monarchin liebte Meran und hielt

sich deshalb gleich mehrmals in der aufstrebenden Kur-

stadt auf. Der Sissi-Weg führt von den Gärten von Schloss

Trauttmansdorff, wo die Kaiserin zwei Mal wohnte, bis ins

Stadtzentrum und berührt dabei wichtige Stationen von

Sissis Aufenthalten in Meran. Meran avancierte bald auch

zum Stelldichein von Künstlern jeder Provenienz; Schrift-

steller, Komponisten und Maler kamen zur Kur in die Stadt

an der Passer, und gar mancher blieb dort auch länger, als

er zunächst geplant hatte. Einige Werke von verschiede-

nen Künstlern, die damals dem Charme Merans verfallen

sind, können heute im Stadtmuseum bewundert werden.

Die vielen Museen und die zahlreichen Ausstellungen in

den Burgen und Schlössern von Meran und Umgebung,

entführen die Besucher auf eine spannende Reise in die

Vergangenheit, wie z. B. das Frauenmuseum Evelyn Ort-

ner, wo Europas größte und vollständigste Sammlung von

Frauenkleidern, Accessoires und Alltagsgegenständen

ausgehend von der Jahrhundertwende ausgestellt ist oder

etwa das Museum für Tourismusgeschichte im Schloss

Trauttmansdorff.

romantici non possono non fare due

passi lungo la Passeggiata Gilf. Pas-

sate molte delle fantastiche residenze

con splendidi angoli tranquilli, passa-

te le case signorili e gli storici parchi,

la strada di Sissi conduce per Merano

sulle orme dell’imperatrice austriaca.

La famosa monarca austriaca amava

Merano e perciò più volte si tratten-

ne nella cittadina termale in continua

crescita. La strada di Sissi porta dai

giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff,

dove l’imperatrice soggiornò due vol-

te, fino al centro cittadino, toccando

le tappe più importanti delle visite di

Sissi. Merano divenne ben presto an-

che punto d’incontro di artisti di ogni

provenienza: scrittori, compositori e

pittori si recavano nella cittadina di

cura termale situata lungo il Passirio

e alcuni vi rimanevano anche più a

lungo di quanto avessero inizialmente

previsto. Alcune opere di diversi arti-

sti, che erano catturati dal fascino di

Merano, oggi possono essere ammi-

rate nel museo della città. I numerosi musei e le moltepli-

ci mostre nelle fortezze e nei castelli di Merano e dintorni

guidano i visitatori in un emozionante viaggio nel passato,

come per esempio il Museo della Donna Evelyn Ortner, in

cui sono esposti abiti, accessori e oggetti di uso quoti-

diano a partire dalla fine del XX secolo, oppure il Museo

Provinciale del Turismo a Castel Trauttmansdorff.

make your heart skip a beat. So, if you get butterflies in

your stomach when you see the enchanted castle, a se-

cret corner of silence or the myriad flowers along the many

promenades, it could be simply due to the intriguing at-

mosphere of this city. Incurable romantics will not be able

to resist a walk along the Gilf Promenade, passing the

fantastic mansions with splendid quiet corners, continuing

on past manor houses and historical parks, “Sissi’s road”

goes all the way to Merano on the legendary trail of the

Austrian empress. The famous Austrian monarch loved

Merano because she came here numerous times to “take

the cure of the waters” in this growing town. Sissi’s road

takes you to the gardens Trauttmansdorff Castle, where

the empress stayed twice, then continues to the centre

of town, with stops at the principal places Sissi visited.

Merano was a meeting point for artists from everywhere:

writers, composers and painters found themselves in

this spa town on the Passirio river and many stayed here

much longer than originally intended. Works of the artists

captured by Merano’s spell can be admired in the town’s

museums. The many museums and numerous exhibitions

in the fortresses and castles of Merano and the area will

guide visitors on an informative dive into the past; two ex-

amples are the Evelyn Ortner Women’s Museum, where

you can see dresses, accessories, and objects of daily use

from the 1900’s, and the Provincial Tourist museum at the

EINE REISE IN DIE VERGAN-GENHEIT

Im über 1.000 Jahre alten Brixen, der ältesten Stadt

der Hofburg erwarten die Besucher in 70 verschiedenen

Schauräumen zahlreiche Kunstsammlungen mit wertvol-

len Skulpturen und Tafelbildern aus dem Mittelalter bis hin

zur neuzeitlichen Kunst aus Barock, Klassizismus und Ro-

mantik. Die Wohnräume der Fürstbischöfe und der prunk-

volle Kaisertrakt zeugen vom Glanz vergangener Zeiten.

Beim gemütlichen Flanieren durch die Lauben, stößt man

auch auf eine ganzjährig geöffnete Ausstellung von Folter-

werkzeugen der Grafschaft Tirol, welche einen Einblick in

eine Zeit gewährt, in der Strenge und Gewalt vorherrschte.

Am Ende eines spannenden und abwechslungsreichen

Tages auf den Spuren der Südtiroler Geschichte, laden

die zahlreichen Bars und Restaurants ein, den Abend bei

einem guten Glas Wein ausklingen zu lassen. Bekannt ist

Brixen auch für sein abwechslungsreiches Programm an

kulturellen Abendveranstaltungen rund ums Jahr.

Diocesano del Palazzo Vescovile in

70 diverse sale espositive, numerose

collezioni d’arte con pregiate scul-

ture e dipinti su tavola dal Medioevo

fino al barocco, al classicismo e al

romanticismo. La residenza dei Prin-

cipi Vescovi e la sontuosa ala impe-

riale testimoniano i fasti del passato.

Durante una piacevole passeggiata

lungo i portici è possibile incontrare

anche una mostra permanente de-

gli strumenti di tortura della Contea

del Tirolo, che offre uno scorcio di

un’epoca caratterizzata da rigore e

violenza. Al termine di una giornata

Das Aufeinandertreffen von städtischer Kulturgeschichte

und von ländlichen Brauchtümern macht jeden Aufenthalt

große Bischofsburg Schloss Bruneck, die auf einem leicht

zugänglichen Hügel über der Stadt thront und den Besu-

Ab Sommer 2011 beherbergt das Schloss das fünfte Mess-

ner Mountain Museum zum Thema Bergvölker. Anhand

unzähliger Exponate aus der Alltagskultur werden die Le-

bensweisen der wichtigsten Bergkulturen der Welt wie z.B.

der Sherpa, der Tibeter, der Mongolen usw. aufgezeigt.

Ziel dieses jüngsten Projektes von Reinhold Messner ist

es, gemeinsam mit Gästen aus den verschiedenen Berg-

regionen der Welt, zum Erfahrungsaustausch anzuregen.

Um hingegen einen spannenden Einblick in die vergan-

genen Lebensformen der Südtiroler Bevölkerung zu be-

kommen, empfiehlt es sich, dem Volkskundemuseum im

benachbarten Dietenheim, einem der schönsten Freilicht-

museen Europas, einen Besuch abzustatten. In der Haupt-

geschäftsstraße Brunecks, der Stadtgasse, können nicht

nur die malerischen Häuser mit ihren alten Fresken und

Giebelkonstruktionen bewundert werden. Neue moderne

Geschäfte auf höchstem Niveau sowie kleine unscheinba-

re Läden, laden zum gemütlichen Bummeln ein. Auch das

Eine Besonderheit von Sterzing, der nördlichsten Stadt

Only a year old and already an in-

stitution, the market of delights “Pur

Südtirol” has taken over the Kurhaus

palate… but that’s not all. The new

project Pur Manufactur was created

as a collaborative point for designers

and artisans of South Tyrol dealing

in products made of materials such

as wood, ceramics, and glass with

deep ties to the territory. The creative

impulse is by designer Harry Thaler

from Merano, the director of interior

design for Pur South Tyrol and recipi-

ent of the “Interior Innovation Award”

in Cologne. This area was also made

to create a stir with the judges: in

addition to the Mercury award for in-

novation of the Commercial Union of

Tourism of South Tyrol, in 2010 Pur

Südtirol received the SMG Marketing

Award and the SMG public acclaim

award. This demonstrates that Pur

Südtirol has succeeded in a project

that no one else has attempted be-

fore: just judge by the many awards

for this innovative idea.

Das „grüne Tal“, wie das Pustertal auch genannt wird, erstreckt sich auf einer Fläche von 2.071 km² und liegt zum größ-

ten Teil in Südtirol und teils im österreichischen Osttirol. Es ist geprägt von saftigen Wäldern, Wiesen, Seen sowie von den

charakteristischen, bizarr geformten Berggipfeln der Dolomiten. Wohl die bekanntesten davon sind die drei Zinnen. Zu den

beliebtesten Zielen für Familienausflüge im Pustertal zählen die Erdpyramiden in Terenten und Platten, die Reinbachfälle in

Sand in Taufers oder der Hochseilgarten Kronaction, ein Abenteuerpark für die ganze Familie. Kletterer finden im Pustertal

nicht nur im Freien traumhafte Bedingungen, sondern auch überdacht, in der höchsten Indoor-Kletterhalle Italiens, in der

Dolomitenarena in Sexten. Nichts für schwache Nerven ist die Zip Line in St. Vigil in Enneberg, einem 3 km langen und 100

m über dem Boden gespannten Stahlseil. Befestigt an einem Schraubkarabiner und hängend an einem Seil, schwebt man

bei einem atemberaubenden Ausblick auf die umliegende Bergwelt von einem Ende zum anderen. Im Pustertal fühlen sich

aber auch alle begeisterten Golfer oder jene, die es noch

werden wollen, wohl. Den Golfer erwartet eine perfekt ge-

pflegte 9-Loch Anlage im Golfclub Pustertal in Reischach

bei Bruneck. Neben den vielen Aktivmöglichkeiten besticht

das Pustertal aber auch mit einer Vielzahl an kulturellen

Veranstaltungen. Highlight sind dabei die „Gustav-Mahler-

Musikwochen“ mit Konzerten, Diaabenden und Vorträgen

in Toblach. Dieses kleine aber feine Event findet jährlich zu

Ehren des bekannten Komponisten Gustav Mahler statt,

der den größten Teil seiner Urlaubstage im Pustertal ver-

bracht hat.

di volare e ammirerete la vista mozzafiato sulle montagne

circostanti da un capo all’altro. In Val Pusteria, anche tutti

gli appassionati di golf e coloro che desiderano diventarlo

avranno di che sbizzarrirsi. Ad attendere i golfisti un campo

da golf a 9 buche perfettamente curato presso il Golf Club

Val Pusteria di Riscone, vicino a Brunico. Oltre alle nume-

rose possibilità dedicate alle attività, la Val Pusteria affa-

scina anche con una grande varietà di eventi culturali. Da

segnalare “Le settimane musicali Gustav Mahler” a Dob-

biaco con concerti, presentazioni e conferenze. Questo

piccolo, ma suggestivo evento si tiene ogni anno in onore

del rinomato compositore Gustav Mahler, il quale trascorse

la maggior parte delle sue vacanze in Val Pusteria.

luxuriant forests, its fields, its lakes and for the emblem-

atic bizarre shapes that make up the peaks of the Dolo-

family destinations are the earth pyramids of Terento and

Plata, the Riva falls at Campo Tures or the high cord trails

conditions, but also indoors, in the largest climbing gym

sensation of flying while admiring the breathtaking sight

end to the other. In Val Pusteria, avid golfers and those just

starting out will be spoilt for choice. Awaiting golfers is a

9 hole perfectly groomed course at the Val Pusteria Golf

Club in Riscone, near Brunico. In addition to the numer-

ous sporting activities, Val Pusteria captivates with its wide

variety of cultural events. Of note, “The musical weeks of

Gustav Mahler” in Dobbiaco with concerts, presentations

and conferences. This small but captivating event is held

each year in honour of the famous composer Gustav Mahl-

er, who spent most of his holidays in Val Pusteria. ◊

Das Tauferer Ahrntal, ein Seitental des Pustertales,

überzeugt durch eine unberührte und authentische Na-

turlandschaft. Diese ist nicht von ungefähr die Heimat des

bekannten Bergsteigers Hans Kammerlander, denn sie ist

ein wahres Wander- und Bergsteigerparadies. Die Glet-

scherriesen der Hohen Tauern und der Zillertaler Alpen

sowie die etwas niedrigeren Gipfel der Rieserfernergrup-

pe warten jährlich darauf von begeisterten Bergsteigern

erobert zu werden. Natürlich können die vielen Schönhei-

ten des Tales nicht nur bei Wanderungen sondern auch

auf zwei Rädern entdeckt werden. Langweilig wird es

im Tauferer Ahrtnal ganz bestimmt nicht! Ab 2011 ist die

Ferienregion um eine Attraktion reicher. Auf der längsten

Alpen-Achterbahn Italiens erwarten die Besucher 1.800

Meter pure Action. Zudem eröffnet im Mai 2011 in Sand in

Taufers die Cascade, eine vollendete Symbiose aus Erho-

lung, Genuss und Aktivität. Es handelt sich dabei um ein

innovatives Bäderkonzept bestehend aus einer Vielzahl

an Saunen und Dampfbädern, Schwimmbädern, Ruhe-

zonen, einem Naturbadeteich, einem Restaurant sowie

mehreren Bars. Natürlich wurde auch an die kleinen Gäs-

te gedacht. Bei einem einzigartigen und abwechslungs-

reichen Erlebnisprogramm, organisiert von der Ferienre-

gion Ahrntal, schließen Kinder neue Freundschaften und

lernen spielend die Natur kennen. Im Vordergrund steht

dabei das authentische Erleben der Landwirtschaft mit

ihrer Tierwelt am Bergbauernhof. Ein musikalisches so-

wie kulinarisches Highlight des Tales ist das Sommerfest

am 17. Juni mit den beiden Gewinnern des Grand Prix der

Volksmusik 2010, Belsy und Florian Fesl. Vom 4. bis zum

10. Juli hingegen verwandelt sich das Tal in ein einziges

Kunstatelier, wo Künstler aus aller Welt beim 2. Internatio-

nalen Ahrntaler Holzbildhauer Symposium ihrer Fantasie

freien Lauf lassen.

La Valle di Tures e Aurina, una valle della Val Puste-

ria, affascina con la sua natura pura e incontaminata.

Non a caso essa è la patria del famoso alpinista Hans

Kammerlander, in quanto è un vero e proprio paradiso

per l’escursionismo e l’alpinismo. I maestosi ghiacciai di

Hohen Tauern e delle Alpi Breonie di Levante nonché la

vetta leggermente più bassa di Vedrette di Ries attendo-

no ogni anno di essere conquistati da appassionati alpi-

nisti. Naturalmente, le numerose bellezze della valle non

solo possono essere scoperte durante le escursioni, ma

anche sulle due ruote. Nella Valle di Tures e Aurina non c’è

pericolo di annoiarsi! Dal 2011, questa regione turistica

è ancora più ricca di attrazioni. Ad attendere i visitato-

ri sulla più lunga pista per slittini su rotaia d’Italia, 1.800

metri di adrenalina allo stato puro. Inoltre, a maggio 2011

apre a Campo Tures la Cascade, un mix perfetto di relax,

divertimento e attività. Si tratta di un concetto innovativo

di centro termale costituito da una serie di saune e bagni

di vapore, piscine, aree relax, un laghetto naturale, un ri-

storante e diversi bar. Naturalmente, il pensiero è andato

anche ai bambini. Con un programma unico e variegato,

organizzato dalla regione turistica Valle Aurina, i bambini

fanno nuove amicizie e imparano giocando a conosce-

re la natura. In primo piano viene posta la vita genuina

dell’agricoltore con il mondo degli animali della fattoria.

Un highlight musicale e culinario della valle è la festa d’e-

state del 17 giugno con i due vincitori del gran premio

di musica popolare 2010, Belsy e Florian Fesl. Dal 4 al

10 luglio, invece, la valle si trasforma in un atelier d’arte

davvero unico, dove artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo

danno libero sfogo alla loro fantasia durante il 2° simposio

internazionale di scultura in legno della Valle Aurina.

The Tures Valley and the Aurina, one of the Val Pusterla

valleys, enchants with its pure and uncontaminated na-

ture. It’s no coincidence that this is the homeland of the

famous mountaineer Hans Kammerlander, as it is a true

paradise for hiking and mountain climbing. The majestic

glaciers of Hohen Tauern and the Stubai Alps as well as

the peak nearly as high called Vedrette di Ries are regu-

larly conquered each year by passionate mountaineers.

The abundant beauty of the valley can be discovered on

hikes as well as by bike. In the Valley of Tures and Aurina

there is no risk of getting bored! Starting this year, the

area is even more rich in attractions, like Italy’s longest

trail for sledding on wheels, 1800 meters of adrenalin-

pumping fun. Also in May of 2011, Campo Tures opens La

Cascade, a perfect mix of relaxation, fun and activities. It

is an innovative concept: a spa centre made up of a se-

ries of saunas and steam baths, pools, relaxation areas,

a natural lake, a restaurant and numerous bars. Children

can enjoy this area too, with a programme packed with

fun activities organised by the region of the Aurina Valley.

Kids can find new friends and learn about nature as they

play. The highlight is on the authentic life of the farmer

and the wonderful world of farm animals. A musical and

culinary high point is on tap this summer on June 17 with

Belsy and Florian Fesl, the 2010 winners of the Grand

Prix of local folk music. From 4 to 10 July the valley is

transformed into an incredible atelier where artists from

all over the world give free reign to their creativity during

the Second International Wood Sculpture Symposium in

the Aurina Valley. ◊

Das 22 km lange Gsiesertal beherbergt die Ortschaften Pichl, St. Magdalena, St. Martin und Durnwald und ist bekannt

für seinen idyllischen Charakter. Die Landschaft ist geprägt von traditionellen Bauernhöfen und Almhütten. Die Umgebung

eignet sich hervorragend für Spaziergänge und Wanderungen. Ein besonderes Wander- und Wellnesserlebnis ist der Pyra-

midenkneippweg Rudlbach. Hier kann man seinem Körper beim Wassertreten etwas Gutes tun. Kneippen ist eine jahrhun-

dertelange Naturheilkunde. Das kalte Wasser bewirkt, dass sich die Blutgefäße an der Körperoberfläche zusammenziehen

und sich bei der darauf folgenden Erwärmung wieder öffnen. Das fördert die Durchblutung und regt den Stoffwechsel an.

Ein weiteres Wanderhighlight ist die Erlebniswanderung auf dem „Schlossweg Welsperg“ in Welsberg. Der Weg ist land-

schaftlich abwechslungsreich und bietet eine Vielzahl an geologischen Besonderheiten. Auch Pilgerreisende zieht es oft

ins Gsiesertal, denn ein Teil des Jakobswegs führt von Winnebach nach Welsberg. Zudem besteht auch die Möglichkeit,

die Sehenswürdigkeiten und Besonderheiten des Tales bei

geführten Wanderungen zu erkunden. Bei all den sportli-

chen Aktivitäten kann man sich dann auch ruhigen Gewis-

sens beim 5. Welsberger Schokoladensymposium am 02.

und 03. September mit kulinarischen Köstlichkeiten rund

um das Thema Schokolade verwöhnen lassen. Ein beson-

deres Highlight sind kostenlose Schokoladenmassagen

für die Besucher. Außerdem finden den ganzen Sommer

über auch verschiedene Feste mit Live-Musik und Gerich-

ten aus der traditionellen Südtiroler Küche statt.

distingue per gli antichi masi e i rifugi. La zona è ideale

per passeggiate ed escursioni. Un particolare highlight che

unisce active & wellness è il percorso Kneipp delle pira-

midi Rudlbach, dove è possibile fare qualcosa di buono

per il corpo durante una camminata nell’acqua. La terapia

Kneipp è una cura naturale secolare. L’acqua fredda ha

l’effetto di contrarre i vasi sanguigni superficiali, i quali si

riaprono al successivo riscaldamento. Questo favorisce la

circolazione e stimola il metabolismo. Un ulteriore highlight

è il “Sentiero di Castel Monguelfo” a Monguelfo. Dal punto

di vista paesaggistico, il sentiero si presenta molto varie-

gato e offre numerose particolarità di carattere geologico.

Esso è anche spesso meta di pellegrinaggi in Valle di Ca-

sies, in quanto parte del percorso del cammino di San Gia-

como che va da Prato Drava a Monguelfo. Inoltre, si può

scoprire attrazioni e peculiarità della valle durante escur-

sioni guidate. Oltre a tutte le attività sportive, è possibile

lasciarsi viziare in tutta tranquillità in occasione del 5° sim-

posio del cioccolato di Monguelfo dal 2 al 3 settembre con

prelibatezze culinarie riguardanti il tema del cioccolato. Un

highlight speciale per i visitatori è rappresentato dai mas-

saggi gratuiti al cioccolato. Inoltre, durante tutta l’estate si

svolgono diverse feste con musica dal vivo e piatti della

tradizionale cucina dell’Alto Adige.

The 22 km stretch of the valley of Casies, known for

its idyllic atmosphere, hosts the towns of Colle, Santa

Maddalena, San Martino and Durna in Selva. The land-

scape is known for its antique “masi” farmhouses and al-

pine huts and is ideal for hikes and walks. One particular

highlight uniting activity and wellness is the Kneipp walk

of the Rudlbach pyramids, where you can do something

good for your body while walking in the water. Kneipp is

a centuries-old natural remedy. Cold water contracts the

superficial blood vessels and dilates them when they are

warmed. This improves circulation and stimulates the

metabolism. Another attraction is the “Walking path of

Monguelfo Castle” in Monguelfo. The varied landscape has

much to offer from a geological point of view. The Casies

Valley also attracts pilgrims on the Way of St. James going

from Prato Drava to Monguelfo. In addition, you can uncov-

er interesting aspects of the valley on guided visits. Apart

from sports activity, you can also enjoy relaxation and tran-

quillity from 2 to 3 September, when the 5th symposium of

chocolate in Monguelfo is in full swing, offering delightful

delicacies with a chocolate theme. The “sweet” highlight

for visitors are free massages with chocolate! What’s more,

in the summer there are many live music festivals and of

course, the inimitable traditional cooking of South Tyrol. ◊

scharen von Bergbauarbeiter wertvolles Silber, Blei und Zink unter extremsten klimatischen und arbeitstechnischen Bedin-

The Valley of Ridanna, 18 km long with just 170 inhabit-

ants, is located in the north of South Tyrol and is particular-

altitudes, austere mountain peaks and perennial glaciers. If

spicco segnaliamo la Cavalcata Oswald von Wolkenstein, il

più grande spettacolo equestre dell’Alto Adige, che si svol-

ge dal 3 al 5 giugno, e l'Orfeo Music Festival. Nel corso di

questo evento straordinario, studenti di musica particolar-

mente dotati incontrano prestigiosi pedagoghi della mu-

sica e artisti di fama internazionale. In 3 settimane hanno

luogo più di 30 concerti di musica classica. Il momento

culminante del festival di quest’anno è l’esibizione della

star del pianoforte, Sergey Khachatryan. Per tutti coloro

The Alpe di Siusi, the largest plateau in Europe is prob-

ably one of the most captivating landscapes in the heart of

the Dolomites, a natural World Heritage Site designated by

UNESCO. In spring, the abundant flora makes its appear-

ance with numerous rare species and offers a spectacular

backdrop to practise activities such as biking, horseback

riding, Nordic walking, golfing, paragliding, rock climbing,

and much more. The Alpe di Siusi Running Park is acces-

sible to running enthusiasts with 20 well-marked trails of

differing difficulties for a total length of 180 km. These are

the perfect conditions for the Kenyan marathon runners

of the Rosa Nike Team who do their high altitude training

here every summer, in a territory as large as 8,000 football

fields. Avid cyclists can enjoy the 30 bike paths for a total

of 1,000 km. In addition to the many sports activities, the

365 alpine huts entice you to savour a delicious South Ty-

rolean snack. One of the highlight events is the Cavalcata

Oswald von Wolkenstein, the largest equestrian spectacle

in South Tyrol that takes place from June 3 to 5, and the

Orfeo Music Festival. In the course of this extraordinary

event, talented students of music meet prestigious maes-

tros and artists of international fame. Over three weeks,

more than 30 classical music concerts are performed. The

Das Landschaftsbild der Südtiroler Ferienregion Überetsch ist geprägt von zahlreichen Hügeln mit Weinreben und Obst-

gener Zeiten fasziniert zu haben, denn nirgendwo sonst in Südtirol gibt es so viele Schlösser und Burgen wie im Gebiet rund

um Kaltern und Eppan. Die Schönheit und Einzigartigkeit dieser Gegend hat sich längst über die Landesgrenzen hinaus

herumgesprochen. Im letzten Frühjahr hat sich die deutsche Nationalelf hier auf die Weltmeisterschaft in Südafrika vorberei-

tet und nur kurze Zeit später wurde die romantische Burganlage Schloss Korb bei Eppan zum Schauplatz der erfolgreichen

ZDF Herbstshow mit Andrea Kiewel. An heißen Sommertagen findet man im Kalterer See und in den Montiggler Seen bei

Eppan Erfrischung. Der Kalterer See, der wärmste Badesee der Alpen, bietet seinen Besuchern eine Vielzahl von Freizeit-

möglichkeiten. Von Schwimmen oder Tretbootfahren über Angeln bis hin zum Segeln ist alles möglich. Zudem sind diese

beliebten Badeseen umgeben von vielen Wanderwegen

und herausfordernden Trails für Biker. Zur Abkühlung im

Sommer eignet sich aber auch eine Wanderung zu den

Eislöchern. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Spaltensystem

aus Porphyrblöcken mit ständigem Luftstrom. Eine Jacke

ist bei dieser Wanderung daher absolut empfehlenswert.

Auch am Abend erwartet die Besucher ein abwechslungs-

reiches Veranstaltungsprogramm. Ein Highlight ist die

„Nacht der Keller“, wo rund 50 Kellereien und Weingüter

Ihre Tore öffnen. Neben Weinverkostungen und geführten

Besichtigungen kann man sich auch auf zahlreiche kulina-

rische Schmankerln freuen.

giornate estive è possibile trovare refrigerio al Lago di Cal-

daro e ai Laghi di Monticolo ad Appiano. Il Lago di Caldaro,

il lago balneabile più caldo delle Alpi, offre ai suoi visitatori

una varietà di attività dedicate al tempo libero. Dal nuoto al

pedalò, dalla pesca alla vela: è possibile praticare tutto ciò

che si desidera. Inoltre, questi laghi particolarmente amati

sono circondati da numerosi sentieri per le escursioni e

da percorsi impegnativi per i ciclisti. Per trovare refrige-

rio in estate, ideale è anche una passeggiata alle buche

di ghiaccio. Si tratta di un sistema di colonne di blocchi

di porfido con flusso d’aria costante. Quindi, una giacca

è assolutamente raccomandata durante questa escursio-

ne. Ad attendere, inoltre, i visitatori un ricco programma

di eventi serali, tra cui segnaliamo la “Notte delle cantine”,

durante la quale circa 50 cantine e tenute aprono le loro

porte. Oltre alle degustazioni di vini e alle visite guidate,

è possibile anche assaporare numerose prelibatezze cu-

linarie.

The landscape of the South Tyrolean region of Oltradige

is comprised of numerous hills dotted with vineyards and

orchards as well as lakes and forests. This natural beauty

seems to have enchanted many noble families of the past,

since no other region of South Tyrol possesses so many

Italian borders. Last spring the national German football

team prepared for the South Africa World Cup right here

and shortly after that the romantic “Schloss Korb” of Appi-

summer days you can cool off at Caldaro Lake. The warm-

walking paths for hikers and challenging trails for cyclists.

For those looking for a cool place in summer, an ideal solu-

tion is a walk along the “ice holes”, a system of columns

made of blocks of igneous rock, allowing a constant flow of

air. For this reason, a warm jacket is highly recommended.

of which one is “Nights in the Wine cellar” during which 50

cellars and estates open their doors. In addition to wine

tastings and guided tours, you can also taste fine culinary

Das Passeiertal, das Tal auf der Südseite der Stubaier und Ötztaler Alpen,

Jaufenpasses und des Timmelsjochs. Hier kann in eine faszinierende Abenteu-

erwelt mit einem abwechslungsreichen und spannenden Aktivangebot einge-

taucht werden. Von Angeln über Canyoning und Rafting in der Passer, Klettern,

Nordic Walking, Reiten bis hin zu Biken... eine Vielzahl an Möglichkeiten, die

Natur von ihrer schönsten Seite zu entdecken. Alle Golffans erfreuen sich an

der 18-Loch-Golfanlage, welche sowohl Anfängern als auch Fortgeschrittenen

ideale Voraussetzungen für einen perfekten Abschlag bietet. Ein Highlight des

Courses sind die sieben Seerosenteiche sowie zahlreiche Bunker, welche den

Spielern viel strategisches Denken abverlangen. Im Sommer lockt zudem der

tens markierten Wanderwegen, zahlreiche Naturliebhaber aus Nah und Fern an.

Offiziell wird die neue Wandersaison am Ostermontag mit einer kleinen Feier in

Leben in die rund 60 bewirtschafteten Almhütten im größten Almrosengebiet

Südtirols ein, welche zahlreiche Wanderer und Gipfelstürmer zum gemütlichen

Der Apfelgarten Südtirols, wie der Vinschgau auch ge-

nannt wird, besticht durch eine Vielzahl an faszinieren-

den Gegensätzen. Von den Hochebenen rund um den

Reschensee, berühmt durch seinem imposant aus dem

Wasser ragenden Kirchturm, hinunter zu den Apfelwiesen

in den milden Tallagen, die sich ab Mitte April in einen duf-

tenden Teppich aus Millionen von weiß-rosa Blüten ver-

wandeln, bis hinauf zum eisigen Gipfel des 3.905 Meter

hohen Ortlers, dem höchsten Berg Südtirols. Diese Vielfalt

an Sehenswürdigkeiten macht den Vinschgau zu einem

idealen Ausflugsziel für Familien, ambitionierte Bergsteiger,

Mountainbiker sowie für Natur- und Kulturbegeisterte. Bei

einer Wanderung entlang des 108 km langen Höhenwe-

ges, kann man das westlichste Tal Südtirols von seiner

schönsten Seite kennenlernen. Besondere Attraktionen

des Vinschgaus, die bei keiner Besichtigungstour fehlen

dürfen, sind das Schloss Juval in Kastelbell, der Wohnsitz

von Reinhold Messner oder aber das Kräuterschlössl in

Goldrain. Hier werden verschiedenste Kräuter biologisch

angebaut und zu edlen Naturprodukten weiterverarbeitet.

Auch der Hauptort Schlanders mit dem höchsten Kirch-

turm ganz Tirols oder das Marmordorf Laas mit seinem

weit über die Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannten weißen

Gold, sind eine Einkehr wert. In Laas hat man zudem die

Möglichkeit, die mehrfach prämierten Edelbrände des

Ausserloretzhofes zu verköstigen. Für die edlen Destillate

werden ausschließlich eigene Früchte aus biologischem

Anbau verwendet. Einige Dörfer weiter, in Schluderns, fin-

det man die Churburg, eine der am meist besuchten und

am besten erhaltenen Burgen in ganz Südtirol. Sehenswert

sind auch das malerische Glurns, die kleinste Stadt Italiens

oder das Kloster Marienberg bei Mals, die höchstgelegene

Benediktinerabtei Europas.

Laces. Qui sono coltivate in modo biologico diversi tipi di

erbe, le quali vengono trasformate in prodotti naturali. An-

che il capoluogo Silandro con il campanile più alto di tutto

l’Alto Adige e il paese del marmo di Lasa, molto conosciuto

oltre confine per il suo rinomato oro bianco, meritano una

visita. A Lasa, inoltre, si ha la possibilità di assaporare i

pluripremiati distillati dell’agriturismo Ausserloretzhof. Per

i distillati sono utilizzati esclusivamente frutti da agricoltu-

ra biologica. Dopo alcuni paesi, a Sluderno, si trova Ca-

stel Coira, uno dei castelli più visitati e meglio conservati

dell’Alto Adige. Inoltre, meritano una visita anche la pitto-

resca Glorenza, la più piccola città d’Italia, e l’Abbazia di

Monte Maria, il monastero benedettino più alto d’Europa.

The apple orchard of South Tyrol, as Val Venosta, or

the Venosta Valley is called, is known for a variety of fas-

cinating contrasts. From the plateau near Lake Resia fa-

mous for its imposing tower that rises from the water, to

the orchards on the rolling hills of the valley that are trans-

formed in mid April into fragrant blanket of white and pink

flowers, to the 3.905 metre peak of Ortles, the highest

mountain in South Tyrol. This variety of attractions make

Val Venosta the ideal destination for families, ambitious

mountaineers and lovers of nature and culture. While hik-

ing along the 108 km long trail you can discover the east-

ernmost valley of South Tyrol from its best vantage point.

Attractions that are an absolute must in Val Venosta are

the Juval Castle in Castelbello, the home of mountaineer

Reinhold Messner, or the Castle delle Erbe (Herbs) in Lac-

es. Here a variety of herbs are biologically cultivated and

transformed into natural products. Another interesting

site is the county seat of Silandro with the highest tower

in all of South Tyrol and the town of marble, Lasa, well

known beyond Italy’s borders for its famous “white gold”.

In Lasa, you can also taste the award-winning distillates

of the Agriturismo Ausserloretzhof. Only biologically culti-

vated fruit is used for their distillates. In nearby Sluderno,

there is the Coira Castle, one of the most visited and best

preserved castles in South Tyrol. Another place that mer-

Strecke müssen insgesamt 7 Pässe

der Dolomiten mit 4.190 Höhenmetern

überwunden werden. Treffpunkt ist der

Sonntag, 10. Juli 2011, immer mit Start

in Stern und Ankunft in Corvara für die

geschlossene Zahl der 9000 Teilneh-

mer, die sich in den drei klassischen

Strecken messen werden: Lange Stre-

cke (138 km) mit 4190 m Höhenunter-

schied, mittlere Strecke (106 km) mit

3090 m Höhenunterschied und Sel-

larunde / Sella Ronda (55 km) mit einem

Höhenunterschied von 1780 m.

Die Dörfer am Fuße des Schlern

stehen vom 3. bis zum 5. Juni ganz im

Zeichen der größten Reitveranstal-

tung Südtirols. Zum 29. Mal stellen

sich beim Oswald-von-Wolkenstein-

Ritt insgesamt 36 Mannschaften

hoch zu Ross vier anspruchsvollen

Reitturnieren. Der Wettkampf wird zu

Ehren des legendären Südtiroler Rit-

ters und Minnesängers Oswald von

Wolkenstein veranstaltet und wieder

tausende Zuschauer begeistern. Vor

dem spektakulären Ritt findet am

21. Mai der Ausscheidungsritt am

„Matzbödele“ in Seis statt. Neben

den vier spektakulären Wettkämp-

fen entführt der große Festeinzug mit

den Eröffnungsfeierlichkeiten, der

Pferdesegnung und dem Dorffest

am Samstag, den 4. Juni, in Seis.

Galloping into the Middle Ages:

the first weekend of June, the vil-

lages surrounding the Alpe di Siusi

are dedicated to the biggest horse-

back riding festival in South Tyrol. A

total of 36 teams face the challeng-

ing competition games of the Oswald

von Wolkenstein Riding Tournament.

Besides the competition, medieval

festivities with historical bands, jug-

glers, fire-eaters and flag wavers

take us back to the times of knights

and damsels. The traditional riding

spectacle starts with a big medieval

festival in Siusi allo Sciliar. On Sun-

day, the audience draws on foot or

by shuttle buses together with the

riders from race to race. At the close

of the tournament, there will be an

awards ceremony at Presule Castle,

with a subsequent festive celebration

quite in keeping with medieval tradi-
