Welcome! I encourage you to use all of the resources that are available to you. Read the assigned text, view suggested videos, work homework online and on paper, ask your fellow classmates for help, and post questions in the Discussion area for other students and the instructor. The best indicator of success in this course is the ability to work the problems using pencil, paper, and calculator. WHAT TO DO: 1. Read syllabus and print course schedule 2. Download and complete Proctor Testing Form if taking midterm or final in location other than NMSU main campus 3. Purchase book and MyAccountingLab access code. See syllabus for text and homework manager options 4. Register for MyAccounting Lab book access and homework manager 5. Check in by email through CANVAS with instructor by Friday, May 27, 2014 6. Follow course schedule. For each chapter, read assigned text pages and complete tasks designated on course schedule; complete homework problems by 11:00 pm on due date (through MyAccountingLab) 7. Rework homework problems and extra practice problems using pencil, paper, and calculator. To be successful in the course, you must be able to work the problems using pencil and paper and without looking back in the text for guidance WORKING WITH CANVAS: On the CANVAS homepage you will find the instructions for course navigation (Welcome Letter), the link to the homework manager (MyAccountingLab), the proctored test form, all PowerPoint slides, and the Course syllabus and schedule. We will use other important links on the left side of the screen: Announcements – this link is used for emergency information. Discussions – this link has a pre-set thread for each chapter. Use this as a message board to ask questions regarding the material and to communicate with the rest of the class. For example, if you are having problem with one of the assigned homework exercises, post a discussion soliciting help from the rest of the class. I will also be looking at these posts. This is the main source of communication between the class and the instructor. Grades – this link will contain grades for each of the exams and homework. The homework grade will be posted at the end of the semester for all homework combined. Pages – this link contain the same items as the homepage Syllabus – this link contains the course syllabus and schedule Quizzes – this link will be accessed to take the online exams

  • WORKING WITH MyAccountingLab:

    The link to MyAccountingLab on the homepage will take you to the electronic course materials and

    homework site (depending on what you have purchased). The registration instructions for the site and

    specific course are included on the Canvas homepage for the course.

    The materials on the MyAccountingLab site are most easily accessed as follows after entering the

    course.

    1. On left-hand list of options, choose Chapter Resources then click chapter of study

    2. Toward bottom of page, choose Multimedia Library

    3. In Media Type, choose Select All, then select Find Now button

    4. Using the course schedule that is available on the Canvas course homepage, use the suggested

    learning process for the chapter.

    If you are using MyAccountingLab solely for homework purposes, then follow the suggested learning

    process using printed materials that is listed in the course schedule.
