A Note from the Administrator...

Dear friends,

I don’t go to confession often --- just a few times a year. But I know it’s made a difference in my self-awareness, honesty and dependence on God. The way I go to confession has changed dramatically. At first I was much too concerned about stating individual actions and omissions, how many times, etc. --- as if God were interested in lists and ledgers and us being somehow “squeaky-clean.” Now when I go to the priest, I tell him what I see when I look at myself --- gluttony, pride, lust, too wrapped up in myself, childish when I feel criticized or threatened. It’s so important now and then to take a good look at yourself --- and then say to another believer what you see. My vices haven’t disappeared just because I confessed them. God forgives us --- that’s 100% certain --- and I imagine God forgives us whether we run to confession or not. But somehow, the saying of our sinfulness out loud diminishes the power that our vices have in our lives. If you haven’t been to confession for a while, you might consider that for this Advent. You can see in the bulletin all the local parishes that are having Penance Services between now and Christmas. And our own parish is having its service on December 21 (Monday) at 7 PM

Peace, All Good! Fr. Mike

PS For a number of years the family of Joe Gonzales, as well as others from this parish and area, has been ardent supporters of TIJUANA OUTREACH. Next week at Masses we'll show a brief video of this ministry ... and also give parishioners a chance to give financial support. What a wonderful work this is!

Estimados Amigos,

Respect Life Ministry

Pain and suffering do not undermine our dignity. Abandoning the suffering brother or sister to death does. True compassion means accompanying another person in his suffering, alleviating that suffering with respect for the person’s dignity, and never abandoning him or her.
