Time flies when you are having

fun. That's an understatement

in the Rio Grande Valley! I am

honored to provide you with our

fourth edition of the Welcome

Home, RGV directory, and

thrilled to say that it truly has

been the best four years being

of service to you.

Every day is a new adventure, and we are proud to

announce that the response to our project has been

amazing. Over the course of the last year, we've

developed new outreach programs to help make

your experience in the Rio Grande Valley an

unforgettable one. We've launched our Retirement

Community Initiative, with educational programs

and information specifically for your managers and

activity directors. We recognize that they are such

an integral part of your home away from home - and

we feel it is also our responsibility to assist themwith

their needs. We've also launched our First

Responder Leadership Program, which we hope

will allow your volunteers the opportunity to network

with others from communities across the Valley,

strengthen programs already in place, provide

quality education and training, and develop strong

relationships with our local resources in regards to

the health care industry. Finally, we are in the

primary phase of planning our Volunteer Program,

which will give our retirees the

opportunity to give back to the Rio

Grande Valley in a variety of

different capacities. Whether that

be spending an afternoon at the

Food Bank or at one of the

many fantastic festivals the Valley

hosts - we'll put you to work in an

atmosphere that fosters fun!

At Welcome Home, Rio Grande Valley, we are blessed with anamazing team. Our staff has unending faith in the project, amazingpatience, a work ethic like none other and such diverse talents. Ican't thank them enough for making my job easy - from balancingthe checkbook to creating the checklists, they allow this project togrow. The love, support and sacrifice my families (both at home andat work) have given me is what guides me. As my daddy says, weare most definitely members of the "mutual admiration society".

Bill & Josie are Converted Texans,originally from Florida, now residingpermanently at Snow to Sun RVResort in Weslaco. Bill & Josie havebeen married for 39 years, Josieretired from the US Postal Service,and Bill owned a small cattle ranch& wholesale plant nursery. Theyhave one daughter, Robin who is an occupational therapist andcaptain in the US Army, stationed in Afghanistan.

Before getting hooked on the RV lifestyle, they had a blue water sailboat,“Moonrise” and traveled the coast of Florida, & the Bahamas for 20 +years. After retiring, they found it was time to change direction, so theysold “Moonrise” and bought a class “A” motor home. After traveling theUS for six years, they found they liked the friendly people in the Valleyand decided to make Weslaco their permament home.

Bill is known at Snow to Sun as the "Florida sheriff"; his responsibilitybeing to keep all the people happy and having a good time. Josie says,“He does have a badge, and his jurisdiction runs from San Antonio, tothe Rio Grande. We’re on an adventure, and I’m holding on tight!”
