Who was Arcimboldo? Giuseppe Arcimboldo was a 16th century

Italian painter best known for creating portraits made entirely of objects such as fruits, vegetables, flowers and books.

Arcimboldo served as court portraitist to various royal families in Vienna and Prague. His portraits made up various objects were greatly admired and remain a source of fascination today.

Arcimboldo Project: Create a portrait in the style of Arcimboldo.

1. Make a new document:size: 8x10”resolution: 72 DPIcolor mode: CMYK

2. Save as: yourname_arcimboldo.psd

3. Locate the FRUIT folder and copy it to your flash drive.

These are ROYALTY FREE images you can use without needing written permission.

4. Locate the FAMOUS PEOPLE folder. Choose one for the REFERENCE for your

portrait, copy to your flash drive.

5. Use all or some of the selection tools in Photoshop e.g. Marquee tools, lasso tools, Magic Wand, Quick Selection, begin importing images to create your portrait.

6. Copy & paste the reference portrait and fruit into your new document.

7. Use the SHOW TRANSFORM CONTROLS on the Move tool to resize.

8. Hold SHIFT to constrain the proportions so the image does not skew.
