Welcome back!
Introduction
We are delighted to welcome some of our students back to the academy and are
looking forward to seeing them. We understand that there are some anxieties
about returning, and in the following presentation we have outlined the steps we
have taken to ensure a safe return.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Take care. Stay Safe.
Structure
● As of Monday 15th June, some Year 10 and Year 12 students will return to
Wilmington Academy to receive some face-to-face learning.
● All Y10 students will have the opportunity to attend on a rota-basis.
● Each college has their own specific entrance - (M) Restaurant, (A) Reception, (J) Side Gate, (O) Side Gate, (KW/V) Reception (Note: Reception will be divided into two.)
● Signage outside to assist with expectations e.g. social distance floor markings.● The students will be grouped into classes, of no more than 10 students.
● There will be 2 x Y10 classes x 10 students per college per day, each based in their
respective college buildings.
● P16 students will follow a bespoke timetable.
● No more than 25% of students are on site at any one time, as directed by the
Department for Education.
● They will be registered and taught in the same classroom everyday and use their
designated outdoor areas for break time on a staggered timetable.
● Distance Learning will continue for Y10 and Y12 students on the days they are
not scheduled to attend the academy.
Structure
● Students for whom parents have indicated they will be attending will be followed
up with a phone call should they not arrive.
● The start and end timings of the day remain as usual. (Students will be dismissed
between 2.45-3.00 on a staggered basis to assist with social distancing.)
● Students are not required to wear school uniform.
● The government have advised that PPE is not required in educational settings.
● Students are permitted to bring their own PPE but this should be taken off site
with them at the end of the day.
● Each college has their own break/lunchtime area with no more than 10 students
(in the same class groups).
● Students will need to bring a packed lunch.
● All students will need to bring their own labelled water bottle.

Safety Measures
Measures will be in place and enforced to minimise risk and these will include:
● Regular handwashing and hand sanitising throughout the day in line with Government
advice. Posters will be clearly displayed throughout these areas.
● Learning spaces, and where appropriate play spaces, will be thoroughly cleaned with
antiviral cleaner at the end of each day
● Cleaners will be onsite all day and will be regularly cleaning all touch points.
● Expectations about sneezing, coughing, tissues and disposal (‘catch it, bin it, kill it’) and
avoiding touching your mouth, nose and eyes with hands to be constantly reinforced.
● Wellbeing Manager and ‘Covid-anxiety trained’ staff available for students who wish to
access support re: anxiety.
Safety Measures cont...● Students will be reminded regularly to tell a member of staff if they are
experiencing symptoms of coronavirus and this to be acted upon immediately in
line with Government advice.
● Induction time every morning for all students on so they are clear about the new
systems and routines - reiteration of expecations and protocols.
● In line with government guidance the Academy Behaviour Policy has been
amended to reflect these changes and this can be found on our website. Any
student not complying with the new expectations within school (intentionally
rather than unintentionally) will be informed that they will continue their learning
from home. This is to safeguard all concerned.
● No meetings with parents/visitors to the academy are permitted.
● Bespoke ‘track and trace’ registers for each classroom will be kept.
Wellbeing
● To support our students, our Wellbeing Manager and a team of our staff are
available to provide advice and guidance for students who are anxious or have
ongoing concerns on their return to the academy.
● There are online lessons on SMSC available for students to access via our learning
platform.
● Our SEN, Student Support and college teams can also be available by contacting
the academy, should you wish to access further support.
