    THE OBJECT OF THE GAME

    Discover exotic star systems; seek out new technologies, artifacts and lifeforms;boldly blow up stuff where no one has blown up stuff before!

    The object of Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space is to captain a starship, leaveyour home world (Hope, in the Glory star system), explore as much of Sector Prime(deep space) as you can, build up a flotilla of starships, make various discoveries andthen return to your planet of origin (Hope) before your mission time expires.

    Mission success is calculated and scored depending on the value of what you bringback with you, like ship upgrades, artifacts, technologies, lifeforms, allies, interestinginformation and even representatives of alien races.

    GAME LAUNCHER

    START

    Launch the game program and go to the Main Menu.

    MODS

    Open the Mod Loader.

    VIDEO SETTINGS

    Use DefaultsCustom ModeFull Screen ModeWindowed Mode

    QUIT

    Terminate the game program.

    MAIN MENU

    START

    Go to the SPACE DOCK to start the game.

    SCORES

    View the HIGH SCORE LIST.

    SIMULATOR

    Start the COMBAT SIMULATOR.

    SETTINGS

    Adjust the volume levels of sound effects and music.

    QUIT

    CAPTAIN NAME

    A captain name is generated randomly each time the game is played. You may enteryour own captain name if you wish. Lock your captain's name for multiple sessions byclicking RANDOM so it turns to LOCKED.

    STARSHIP NAME

    A starship name is generated randomly each time the game is played. You may enteryour own starship name if you wish. Lock your captain's name for multiple sessions byclicking RANDOM so it turns to LOCKED.

    SELECT SHIP

    Choose ship type and mission

    Science Vessel = Science missionPirate Corvette = Pirate missionTerran Frigate = Military mission

    MAP SIZE

    Choose map size, number of stars and the length of the mission.

    Small - 16 stars/10 years

    Medium - 32 stars/20 years

    Large - 48 stars/30 years

    NEBULA MASS

    Choose the amount of Nebula to appear on the starmap. Nebula areas usually slowthe movement speed of a starship or flotilla considerably.

    Less - 20%Normal - 30%More - 40%

    Note that these are approximate percentages.

    ENEMY STRENGTH

    Choose the strengths of enemy flotillas to make the game easier or more difficult.

    Less - Small flotillasNormal - Average-sized flotillasMore - Large flotillas

    Note that a flotilla is a group of starships.

    TUTORIAL

    Clicking this button will ENABLE or DISABLE the tutorial mode.

    START

    Go to the MISSION BRIEFING.

    CANCEL

    Return to the MAIN MENU.

    MISSION BRIEFING

    The Mission Briefing screen will provide you with a quick review of your missionobjectives.

    Science mission

    Primary objective: Collect unusual lifeforms.Secondary objective: Discover star systems and other space phenomena.

    Pirate mission

    Primary objective: Collect anything of high value.Secondary objective: None.

    Military mission

    Primary objective: First Contact with alien races.Secondary objective: Collect technology.

    CONTINUE

    Begin the game.

    CANCEL

    Return to the SPACE DOCK.

    INTERFACE & SPECIAL KEYS

    Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space is controlled with the mouse and one mousebutton. It has a one-click interface that is very easy to use.

    The most important special key to remember is F1, which will evoke a HELP popup atany time during the game.

    The second most important key is the SPACEBAR, which is primarily used to PAUSEstarship combat.

    The number keys, 1-5, will select individual ships in the order that their icons are linedup at the top of the STARMAP VIEW and BATTLE VIEW screens.

    Pressing ESC during the game will halt the game and evoke the DEBRIEFINGscreen. Pressing the ESC key at any other time will evoke the MAIN MENU.

    Pressing F12 will take a screenshot and store it in the game folder as a .tga image

    file.
