I thought I coped with change quite well, God. But sometimes I am so aware of my inadequacies and limitations. I want to trust You, practicing what I have

seen and know of the freedom, love and guidance of Your loving wisdom. Amen.

The Order of Morning Worship

Fifth Sunday after Pentecost

June 26, 2016 10A.M.

We offer a warm welcome to all who have come here today. May you receive God’s comfort, insight and inspiration through worship, prayer and song.

* All who are able may stand

The Church Gathers to Worship God

Welcome and Announcements

Prelude (Silent preparation for worship begins with the appreciation of this music offering)

Call to Worship (responsive) One: God’s way is holy. All: God works wonders. One: God has led the people in the past, All: and calls us into the future. One: As we listen for the voice of change All: may we be guided by the Spirit. One: Through the Spirit let us hear God’s call among us. All: God is with us, guiding us in this time and place. One: Come let us worship.

Opening Prayer God of the prophets, as this morning dawns, draw near and be gracious to us. Attend us and be our constant companion. Part the waters of division and injustice and guide us safely through. Come into our midst that we may praise you and tell each generation of your faithfulness. Amen

*Opening Hymn Called as Partners in Christ’s Service NCH #495

A Story for All Ages Two Men Named “Eli” * the children arrive to the Chancel to the “traveling music” of Jesus Loves Me!, NCH #327, v.1 * the children depart to their classrooms to “traveling music” of All Things Bright and Beautiful, NCH #31, v.1

Prayer of Confession Leader: Holy One, it is not always easy to hear God in the voice of change. Yet, even when we do hear God’s voice, it can be hard to let go of the ones who have mentored and led us, and accept our own call to minister amongst the world. There are so many reasons we find it difficult to attend to the call of change. It is hard to recognize that the time has come to encourage someone else to take up a ministry that we hold dear and to let them shape ministry in new ways. It is hard to put aside our own self-interest, social expectations, and even a need to prove ourselves worthy, to follow the leading of the spirit of God and discern the way of God in a changing time.

ALL: Leading and guiding God, enable us to hear your voice of change and trust you on our faith journey. Amen
