As the years steadily pass by, Im amazed athow much more quickly the summers seem topass. Just a few weeks ago, the Wayne TraceLocal Schools bid farewell to the exceponalClass of 2014. Now we excitedly ancipate the2014-2015 school year, as the Class of 2015
becomes this years seniors, and the students ofthe Class of 2027 begin their kindergarten year. Ican sll remember the day my own childrenbegan kindergarten and fathom at how quicklythose years passed, most of them with manygreat memories. I hope that you, too, have fondmemories of your children beginning their rstdays of school and even beer memories of theiraccomplishments and occasional trials and tribu-laons throughout their thirteen years of publiceducaon. Enjoy each day. But more impor-tantly, please help to play a crucial role in theoverall educaonal experience of your childrenby geng involved in school events, developing aprofessional relaonship with your childrensteachers, and contacng the appropriate schoolpersonnel with quesons and concerns. As Ivestated many mes before, a childs educaon is acollecve eort between school and home.
Acve communicaon is of the utmost im-portance.
School begins for students on Wednesday,August 20, 2014. Now that summer is coming toa close and school is right around the corner, wehope that all students, as well as their parents, have had an enjoyable summer with fun andrelaxaon with family and friends.
Parents new to the district should contact thebuilding principal(s) for informaon about enrol-ling their child(ren) in school. If you arentcertain which elementary school your child willaend, contact the central oce (419-263-2415)for that informaon.
The Ohio Department of Educaon is expectedto release its school district and school buildingreport cards in the next few weeks. Districts andbuildings will receive leer grades for achieve-ment and gap closing, but no overall leer gradeswill be issued. As we await this informaon, Idlike to once again thank our administrave teamand our faculty for their eorts in teaching thestate content standards, while also becomingfamiliar with the changing content standards. Were also working diligently on the maer ofStudent Learning Outcomes, which become partof the teacher evaluaon system starng withthis upcoming school year. Our Race to the Toptransformaon team spent a great deal of methe past two school years introducing SLOs toour faculty with the goal of having thesemeasures in place by this fall. As Ive statedmany mes before, the manner in which ourstudents are taught/tested and the system forgrading our schools is rapidly changing. AtWayne Trace, we are connuing to work to stayahead of the curve with the goal of bringing the
best educaon possible to the students of ourgreat school district.
Once again, we anxiously await the upcomingschool year and hope that your students areready to go on August 20. We also hope that youare able to come to our school buildings andenjoy several extra-curricular/co-curricularevents oered to the Wayne Trace students eachyear. Your connued support is much appre-ciated.
As always, if you have quesons or concernsabout your childs educaonal experience atWayne Trace, feel free to contact your buildingprincipal or superintendent.
