some transport from Dunedin to Oamaru. If you're in Oamaru and wish
to attend, please contact Todd Dickens or Jacqui Dean to register

along for the evening, and we'll make some accommodation available
as well.

forms and you'll gain full
access to the rights and
a late registration fee of $30 after Friday 20 April. For all YNSR

together a funding proposal to the electorates in order to subsidise your

"Questions For Oral Answer"
The new YNSR Pub Quiz team,
christened "Questions For
Oral Answer" had a great first
outing on Monday at The Bog
and will be back in action next
Monday. Be there from 7pm and,
numbers permitting, join either
the official team or the renegade
breakaway YNSR team, "Jo
Hayes for Dunedin South". Check out the Event Page for more
information.
Party Meetings
The Southern Region is
holding a tea & coffee this
Friday for the RegionalCommittee. This is a chance
for the first catch up of 2012,
and so if there is anything
you'd like me to raise with the
Region please don't hesitate
to let me know. At our
Wednesday Executive meeting we plan to confirm our endorsement of
current Policy Chair Rudi Verplancke and Regional Chair Ele
Ludemann for another 12 months, so a big (premature) congratulations
to them both.

Last Wednesday, much to the amusement of our northern friends, the
YNSR endorsed a charity foodbank drive, "The Great Southern
Marmite Drive", which aimed to promote the awareness of charity
and giving, by using the topical "Marmite shortage" as a quirky and fun
hook in. We managed to set up collection points in Dunedin, Oamaru,
Gore, Balclutha, Queenstown and Invercargill, and we'll be collecting
through to the close of business on Friday. All donations of Marmite
and other non-perishables will go to the Combined Dunedin
Foodbanks.
I would encourage you all to head along to the Facebook Event and
check out where you can make a donation. If you're outside the Region
then I encourage you to make your own donation to a local foodbank.

The NRL results for Week Four is in, and we're seeing a bit of change.
"Hermo" has taken over the lead with a sold 5/8, and we're slowly
climbing our way to the top, having overtaken "harry" this week with
our own 5/8. You can stilljoin our league, invite code is 169043.
Meanwhile, in the Super Rugby, not much change with the leaders as
the top four remain the same as last week. Most people struggled this
round, except the Young Nats Tauranga, who have finally woken up
and collected a massive 42 points for the week. With 8 points up for
grabs each game, the lead can change dramatically with one good or
bad week (fingers crossed). You can join us here:Young Nats
Southern Region.
The Bog Pub Quiz
Our first outing at The Bog's Monday Night Pub Quiz was a successfulone. Numbers were high, so the southern half of the table seceded from
the "Questions For Oral Answer" union to form a rebel "Jo Hayes
for Dunedin South" YNSR team. It turned out to be a smart move, as the
rebel team came 4th=, pipping Questions For Oral Answer (6th=) by
two points.
With such an impressive turnout, Brighter Connections coordinator
Todd Dickens has suggested making this a weekly event. Let's see if we
can't get into the top three and start racking up those bar tabs. A big
thanks to Jo Hayes and Robyn Broughton for joining us as well!

Brighter Prospects Internships
Our Brighter Prospects Internships programme is beginning to gather
steam. The programme aims to enhance and increase the career
opportunities for our Members. We've produced for employers and
business leaders a fact sheet, as well as a quick brochure to get them up
to speed on our internships programme. You can check the brochure out
(front andback), as well as the fact sheet, online.
Over the next month we're going to look to implement at least ten six-
month internships, beginning in May. If you'd like to be considered for
an internship please register your interest.
Mainland Conference
The Mainland Conference (the joint Southern and Canterbury-
Westland Annual Conferences) is due to be held over the weekend of the
27-29 April.

The final details are available on the MyNational page. I would
encourage YNSR Members to take advantage of the discounts already
available and join in as much as possible (it's not often we are able to
have a big Conference in Dunedin and eliminate travel costs).
Conference registration itself is $65 for YNSR Members (down from
$95), and we have been offered a table at the Dunedin South Debate on
Friday night for $35 a head (down from $100 a head). Also of interest
are the cash bar drinks following registration Friday night, and the
cocktail function Saturday night followed by a sit down dinner at
Etruscos.
Get your registrations in early, and remember to put yourself down as a
delegate for the YNSR and let us know.
Membership
As always, I encourage anybody who
hasn't already done so, to sign upwith the Party
atyoungnats.org.nz/join/ as
either a Member or a Supporter so
that we can ensure you're entered into
our system. As we move towards the
real decision making forums in the
year, it's a good opportunity to have
serious input into the workings of
government. Check out
our Facebook Page for more regular discussions, and add me onFacebookif you'd like access to our Members & Supporters only group
on Facebook where we discuss further internal Party matters.
Another slight delay on the newsletter this week, I've been doing some
freight handling for NZ Couriers (starting at 3:30am) and so it's been
one hell of challenge juggling sleep and keep you all informed. Almost
all of April is a recess month for Parliament, so be sure to take that
opportunity to network with our MPs as much as possible.
Cheers,
James Rawiri Meager
