I would like to show my gratitude towards Harpers bazaar for giving the opportunity to inculcate my interest and to explore fashion styling. I appreciate the fact that i was given freedom to work and explore within the functionality and Ideology of harpers bazaar. Hence my experience was in very open and creative environment, which was really appreciable.I am grateful to Ms. Lakshmi for making me understands the process of styling and being very supportive throughout. I am also very obliged to Ms. kavita as she tried to share her experience and knowledge on fashion and styling. About Harpers bazaar

Harpers Bazaaris an Americanfashionmagazine, published in 1867.Harpers Bazaaris published by Hearst and, as a magazine, considers itself to be the style resource for women who are the first to buy the best, from casual to couture.Harper's Bazaar is a pretty decent fashion magazine. It is the very best fashion and high style magazine. Their Aimed at members of the upper-middle and upper classes , Bazaar assembles photographers, artists, designers and writers to deliver a sophisticated perspective into the world of fashion, beauty and popular culture on a monthly basis.The fashion authority, brings you the latest new looks from the hottest designers.Sophisticated, elegant and provocative,Harpers bazaaris the fashion resource for women who are the first to buy the best, from casual to couture.America's first fashion magazine, Harper's Bazaar has showcased the visions of legendary editors, photographers and stylists since 1867. In addition to the United States, Bazaar now publishes 27 editions around the world.When Harpers Bazaar began publication, it was a weekly magazine. They show cased fashion from Germany and Paris in a newspaper-design format. It was not until 1901 that Harpers moved to a monthly issued magazine which it maintains today. Now Harpers Bazaar is owned and operated by the Hearst Corporation in the U.S. and The National Magazine Company in the U.K. Hearst purchased the magazine in 1912.Harper & Brothers founded the magazine. This company also gave birth to Harpers Magazine and HarperCollins Publishing.

Harpers comes to India

Hearst Corporations international hi-end fashion magazine brand Harpers Bazaar has launched its edition in India 2009. This was the 140-year-old American fashion magazines 29th edition around the world. The magazine came to India through a licensing arrangement with the India Today group, which already published other Hearst titles such as Cosmopolitan and Good Housekeeping.They priced at Rs 100, the 220-page inaugural issue of Harpers Bazaar came in the form of a collectors edition with Swarovski crystals imprinted on the masthead. India Today groups chief operating officer Mala Sekhri said that the magazine will print 50,000 copies initially. Harpers Bazaar will be pushed through the newsstands as well as subscriptions. Commenting on the launch of a new magazine brand in times of a severe recession, Sekhi said that the magazine will be in the making for the last year and half. Since they already had a team in place, it was best to launch the product during a recession. They have been extremely cost-conscious which they may not have been in during good times, she said. The magazine is being brought out by a lean 20-member team and edited by Sujata Assomull. Luxury labels such as Chanel, Dolce & Gabana, TODs, Bvlgari, Armani and Gucci, among several others, had advertised in the launch issue of the magazine. Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan had been dressed by Indian and foreign designers for a special photo shoot for the magazine.

Personalise Shoot: This shoot refer to concerning or affecting a particular person or his or her private life and personality according to what they feel? , what kind of things they like? , what kind of society they move? , and many more.

Cover page: The cover page is basically the front page. Usually, there is introduction to put of some sort and some attractive or eye catchy picture

Some special shoots: This shoot include some stories like mix and match marriage, On the dark side, Indian sheek , The sari story , Big fashion issue and many more .These kind of stories they make according to the season and the latest fashion.

Events: Events they include like fashion events which means like opening of a store or some get together, launching new brand which are associated with harpers bazaar.

Process of Fashion Shoot

Shoot started with the person who chose the clothing and accessories for the photo session, The Stylists. The hair and makeup artists set up their material in the dressing room, while the fashion stylist and the assistant start to unpack the clothing, accessories, footwears and hang them on clothing racks. This also allows the fashion stylist to present the clothing to the photographer. As there are always a lot more clothing than will be photographed, choices are often made in the morning to determine when they will be shot and how they will work together in a layout. The steamer and ironing table are set up and the stylist starts to work on the clothing to remove wrinkles because retouching out wrinkles is a major pain and it is preferable that the clothing are as close to perfect before commencing the shoot. While the stylist is preparing the clothes, accessories, and footwears. The hair stylist has already begun and usually starts before the makeup artist. This is done to avoid possible smudging of the work that has been executed by the makeup artist. The two of them discuss what they will be doing and then call in the photographer and the stylist to give us an overall view of what the model will look like. While the hair and makeup artist, fashion stylist are in preparation, directing for the lighting to employ, colour of backdrop or the lighting being used for the set. Little changes are always require after each shot with the model and the subsequent clothing changes. Once satisfied they take several images and view them on computer screen. And if they need some changes than the hair stylist adjusts the hair according to the need . The fashion stylist is called to adjust the clothing. Adjustments are always there as the model changes positions.

The make up artist waits for the first test shot to see how the make-up looks under this particular type of lighting. Once all of the necessary adjustments are made, the shoot starts.After completing the shoot stylist starts to pack the clothing, all of the accessories and foot wares.

Mood board Mood board contains final garments which are been selected for the shoot and have to picked up from the store.

Myreflection

Working under Harpers bazaar was a wonderful and learning experience for me. As working under such profile make me understand the process by which industry runs or rushes. Then the journey starts of a product as it goes with promotion, advertisement, and styling, to attract the consumer. As fashionstylistthis intern helped me to coordinate all of the parts of afashionshoot orfashion.In this capacity, afashionstylist handles the interaction of the clothing with jewellery and other accessories, to make sure the look is as it should be. In some cases, however, afashionstylist may be self-taught, or may have apprenticed with afashion designeror anotherfashionstylist. Some stylists also came from a different design background, helping to hone their aesthetic eye, although not to directly teach them how it pertains tofashionstyling.

Stylists do this through an understanding of up-to-the-minute trends infashion, as well as the intricacies of design, color theory, and lighting. They must use a number of different fields in their work; to make sure that an outfit and accessories looks as good as it possibly can give the situation at hand.

Helping the organization even in the small stuff, like making presentation sitting in their discussions or doing a base research for some project, as fresher the expose to the industry is full of opportunity for learning which develops me as an individual with a very clear vision for future. The most important thing which i have learned that how to pick up right thing for the right market, india in its self is a very complicated market to understand as every stats has its own identity and mentality . I was able to explore different aspects of every competitive brand materials, and all this also make me explore the Mumbai market, which was also one of the wonderful experiences for me. Exploring with the different brands in the different locations, help me to understand about the fashion. During my intern I had understand lot of things being in the office or being outside the office , with soo may diverse experience some incidents have left sweet while some had left sour experience in my memories. Well overall intern was nice and learning experience.
