Questions to consider: 1. What animals lived on Mrs Wishy-Washy’s farm? 2. Why did they run away? 3. Use a dictionary to find out what ‘stampede’ means.

When the animals got to the city , they said, “ But the city is as wild as a farm stampede.” Why did they say this?

Upload a video of you answering some of the questions on to Tapestry. 2. This week we would like you to use a comparing contrasting frame to compare and contrast the countryside and the city. The countryside

The city

Mrs Khangura has made one too so you can get some ideas.

Upload a photo of your comparing and contrasting frame onto Tapestry.

3. The farm animals ran away! Mrs Wishy-Washy needed help to find the animals and she made posters and stuck them up round the city. Can you make a ‘Missing’ poster to help her find the animals? Here is one I made to give you an idea about what to include. Don’t forget the reward money.

Phonics

1. Practice singing the phase 4 tricky word song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NOzgR1ANc4

2. Can you have a go at making a tricky word bingo game to help you learn the phase 4 tricky words? You can get other members of your family to join in. All the players will need to make a bingo card with 6 tricky words from phase 4.

Here are some pictures and instructions to explain the game: First the grown up or you have to write all the tricky words from phase 4 onto pieces of paper, fold them up and put them into a bowl. The words will need to be repeated at least twice.

Page 6: Weekly Home Learning Activities Reception - Week 13 · Weekly Home Learning Activities Reception - Week 13 Ongoing Practice Bug Club – Keep up the lovely reading on bug club. Don’t

Next, each person playing the game will need to divide their sheet of paper into 6 and choose 6 words from this phase 4 list to write into the boxes

Now you are ready to play. The adult needs to pick a word from the bowl and you can all try and read it. If you have the word on your sheet, cross it out.

The first person to cross out all the words shouts BINGO! and wins.

You can play this game lots of times, taking turns to be the caller ( the person who picks out the words). Upload a picture of you playing bingo to Tapestry. 2.Revising phase 3 phonics Use bbc bitesize to practice any sound you are still unsure about. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvq9bdm

Maths

1 .Last week we looked at ways to use the tens frames to solve addition problems.

You worked out the missing number by looking at the bottom row? It was 5. So we wrote the addition calculation as

5+5=10

This week we are going to use the tens frame to find different ways to make 10.

Use the number frame to show your sum. Draw your own number frame and use some buttons, pine cones, leaves, lego or coins to help you work out the calculations.

say it out loud 6 green counters + 4 red counters = 10

Page 8: Weekly Home Learning Activities Reception - Week 13 · Weekly Home Learning Activities Reception - Week 13 Ongoing Practice Bug Club – Keep up the lovely reading on bug club. Don’t

write it down 6+4=10

How many different ways can you make 10 on the tens

frame?

.Upload pictures to Tapestry of your objects on the tens frame and with you writing the addition calculations down.

2. Mrs Wishy-Washy used a big tin tub to bath the animals in. We would like you to explore capacity this week. Capacity means: the maximum amount that something can contain. Using a cup/ beaker find out how many cups of water are need to fill 3 different containers.

Which container holds the most cups of water? Which container holds the least cups of water?

Put the containers in order of capacity, take a picture and upload to Tapestry.

Other We are going to have some more fun with water. You are going to learn a science trick: keeping paper dry under water. Watch this video and have fun learning about science. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2P69KlrttYg

Remember to upload a video to Tapestry showing your cool science trick- Keeping paper dry under water.

Creative Ideas/Wellbeing

Choose two of the following challenges to complete each week. Make sure you upload a photo or video on Tapestry for your teacher to see!

1. CBBC’s Blue Peter have launched their 6 badges of summer and have this lovely wall poster to show you what you need to do to collect. Under 6’s can sign up and collect the stickers for the wall chart when they complete the challenges. This may be a nice activity to start and complete over the coming weeks.

To find out more information click on the link. https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/joinin/six-badges-of-summer

2. Do you know about all the ways to keep healthy? Watch this short video and then with a grown-up plan and make a healthy picnic that you can enjoy after some exercise in the garden or at the park.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxnEuj1c0sw

We would love to see you enjoying your exercise and picnic, so don’t forget to upload a picture to Tapestry.

3. This is week 2 of Children’s Art week. We are going to look at connecting across the generations.

Using cut outs from photos of your family and make a collage. Why not use photos of grandparents or other relatives that don’t live with you. How about starting with a painting/collage or drawing of a place you love and then sticking different people from your family across the generations onto the backdrop.. If you don’t have photos you can draw and then cut out people to stick onto your backdrop.

Upload your art: Connecting across the generations to Tapestry.
