What Our Students will be involved in during MFUGE this Summer! Children’s Ministry This ministry track involves working with children in a variety of settings including: Vacation Bible Schools, Backyard Bible Clubs, Day Camps, and other site specific work with children. Groups may work at churches, community centers, apart-ment complexes, children’s homes, etc. The purpose of this track is to provide students with the opportunity to teach and lead children through Bible stories, games, crafts and music.

Evangelism Ministry This track is designed to give students an opportunity to share their faith with people in the community. The track will work in populated areas and will engage people in conversa-tion through handing out refreshments, organizing activities, playing music, etc. Students may also partner with local churches to pass out flyers and prayer walk as part of church planting efforts.

Games and Recreation Ministry This ministry track is designed to help students use their athletic ability and willing hearts to share the gospel through sportsmanship and Christ-like attitudes. These tracks are located in children’s centers or homes, apartment complexes, community centers and boys and girls clubs. Games and Recreation tracks will not always have the opportunity to lead Bible stories or share the Gospel directly, but will focus more on relational evangelism through intentional conversations. This track ministers to people of all ages, from Pre-K to high school and even adults.

International Ministry This track is designed to minister to the large population of foreign born residents and refugees in the city. Many immi-grants have fled to America for safety and refuge from both political and religious persecution. Students will have an opportunity to minister to this population through home repairs, children’s ministry, sports clinics, etc.

Painting, Construction, and Yard Work Ministry Students in this track will spend their time doing yard work, repairing, cleaning, painting, and light construction work. These tracks work with various organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and local housing authorities to meet the physi-cal needs of churches, schools, families and individuals. Students in this track will be encouraged to share the love of Christ with people they are working for and with people they encounter through their work.

Social Ministry This ministry track provides students a variety of ministry opportunities for meeting the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of people. Students in this track may minister in: mentally/physically handicapped centers, nursing homes, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food banks, clothing closets, furniture distribution centers, refugee ministries, prison ministries, Baptist Centers, Salvation Army Sites, and other community organizations with similar purposes. Students will work both directly with people in the community as well as behind the scenes.

Special Needs Ministry This ministry track is designed to meet the needs of children and adults with special needs. Ministry opportunities will include Bible teaching, crafts, music, sports and recreation, field trips and more. Ministry will take place at community centers, in children’s homes, at nursing homes, etc. Please pray for our students as they make an impact for God’s Kingdom this SUMMER!! Your Brother in Christ, KW

No Risk—No Reward! Recently, we spent a couple of days at Orange Beach. It was one of those “spur of the moment” trips where we finally decided at the last minute to spend a Friday and Saturday soaking up rays, eating seafood, and playing in the waves. It was while we were playing in those waves that I had the thought: “There’s no way for us to know whether or not a shark is in the water near us.” That means for me to gain the reward of a great time jumping swells in five feet of water about fifty yards off shore, I would have to assume the risk of sharks in the water too. That doesn’t mean we weren’t careful. We took all the rea-sonable precautions, like staying together, keep-ing an eye out, those kinds of things. But we still took the risk of entering the water. And the reward was a lot of fun and relaxation on a perfect day at the beach. In Ephesians 4, Paul writes of another risk/reward proposition. The risk is found when we act in a selfless way that points to the Lord. Think about it. Don’t you open yourself to exposure when you are “humble, gentle, and patient”?(verse 2) Don’t you assume a measure of risk when you are willing to “bear with one another in love”?(2) How risky is it to trust the “apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers”(11) in your church? All of those things assume some measure of risk, but if those of us who are born again choose to live by those standards from God’s Word, the reward will be great. Just in this chapter, we learn that a body of faithful believers submitting to God’s Word in all things will see: unity and peace(3), the equip-ping of the saints(12), the building up of the body of Christ(12), the attainment of mature manhood(13), we’ll no longer act like children(14), we’ll speak the truth in love(15), and we’ll grow up(15). So, a risk? Yes! Reward? Absolutely, and a great one at that! Let’s be risky by believing and behaving like Paul admonished us. Then, let’s enjoy the reward that God offers, that we might with unity, declare God’s glory to the nations. Singing His Praises, Robert

Measuring Up

While hanging out with her father in his work shop, a preschooler tried to imitate

using a tape measure. When she couldn’t quite reach the distance she wanted to measure

between herself and an object, she moved the object closer to her! No matter how much we try to finagle God’s rules, his standard of holiness

won’t be moved. As sinful beings, we can’t reach that standard on our own. We’re stuck

without Jesus’ grace. Thank God that he helps us measure up!

Ice Cream Sundae Fellowship, Sunday, June 25th following evening service.

The wooden shoe of worry

The word sabotage has a fascinating

history. Sabot is the French word for a wooden

shoe. Sabotage was the act of throwing a shoe

into machinery to stop work. Now it means any

attempt to hinder production or spoil a prod-

uct. Satan tries to cast a wooden shoe into our

souls to prevent us from accomplishing God’s

plan. That shoe is worry, which can crush the

spirit, sour our disposition and interfere with

Christian service. That’s why Jesus instructs:

“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will

worry about itself” (Matthew 6:34, NIV). Jesus

isn’t promoting laziness or indifference; instead,

he encourages us to trust our Father, who pro-

vides for all our needs. Be on guard, and don’t let

worry sabotage your faith!
