WEEKEND MESSAGE:
How good were you at practicing the piano—now or when you were growing up?
Do you practice yoga?
How about the USA Women’s Soccer team? Bet they’ve done a LOTS of passing drills!
How’s your piety practice going? Well now, that’s a strange question. Not sure what ‘piety’ even means?
Dear Jesus, You know there’s lots of things we could do better. Teach us how to practice whatever it is that we need. Amen
WEEKEND MUSIC:
"All People That On Earth Do Dwell" text by William Kethe and tune by Louis Bourgeois is a 16th century paraphrase of Psalm 100. The verses are filled with thanksgiving and praise of our Creator God. Though the language is more 'formal', the action of physical response in our Thanksgiving is active and alive. This tune, OLD HUNDREDTH is recognized as the "Doxology" and is often sung in worship at the time of offering and in homes before a meal.
WEEKEND WORSHIP TIMES:
Saturday 5:00pm in the chapel Sunday 9:00am and 10:30am in the sanctuary Communion is celebrated at all services

Growing Spiritually
Vicar Denise
Join us for a post-service celebration for Vicar Denise as she concludes her time at GLC! We will honor her at the services on July 20 & 21 where she will be presented with gifts from the congregation. There will be receptions following the Sat-urday 5:00pm service and Sunday 10:30am service. On Sunday, we will gather in the chapel and the front of the church (weather depending) for a celebration with light fin-ger foods. Questions? Contact Michelle Lata: [email protected].
What's Next for Vicar Denise? Vicar Denise will be in the ‘fall draft’, during which she will be assigned to a geographical synod. She will then meet with the Bishop of that Synod to learn about first call opportunities followed by interviews. This can take sev-eral months. We must not contact Vicar Denise after she leaves GLC! This is to help her prepare for her next steps. She will let us know when/where she has been assigned and when she receives a call, we can attend her ordination.
WHAT’S A SABBATICAL?
A Sabbatical Timeline
Pastors typically take a sabbatical after around 5 years in a congregation. Conversations at GLC began at right around the 6 year mark (February of 2018). The excitement around mission and the possibility of a second pastor pushed the idea out a few years. When it became clear that getting a mission pastor would be a longer process than initially an-ticipated, followed by a serious health crisis of Bishop Miller who was handling our call, followed by the invitation for Pastor Trudy to be open to nomination for Bishop- it became clear that our original timing was not happening! With the pause button pressed, it seemed the right time to resume the conversation about sabbatical. The personnel com-mittee drafted a policy and an agreement which was approved at council in June of 2019.
