ROALD DAHLS Big Friendly Giant is coming to Murwillumbah.

Auditions for the next Murwillumbah Theatre Company production, Roald Dahls classic story, The BFG will be held at the Canvas and Kettle room at Murwillumbah Civic Centre at 7pm on Tuesday, July 21.

The BFG is one of Roald Dahls most memorable books, adapted for the stage by leading dramatist David Wood. It tells the story of the BFG and little orphan Sophie, who band together to save the children of England from child-eating giants.

Director Colin Elliot said The BFG was a family show, full of colourful, irreverent and boisterous characters.

It is MTCs fourth Roald Dahl production

directed by Colin Elliot, following on from James and the Giant Peach, The Fantastic Mr Fox and The Twits all successes for the theatre company.

The BFG will be staged at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre from Friday, October 16 to November 1 for nine performances, including two special schools shows.

Needed are 15 enthusiastic actors, male and female, aged 10 and upwards to play a variety of roles. Backstage crew and mask makers are also required.

Rehearsals will be held twice a week leading up to opening night, with extra rehearsals in the fi nal week.

Results from the recent National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM) research found a raft of unfair and cruel cuts hidden in PM Abbotts latest budget.

Families across the North Coast will see a huge por-tion of their disposable incomes slashed due to yet another unfair budget handed down by the Abbott Liberal and Nationals government, local Labor MP Justine Elliot said.

The budget unfairly targets locals on low to modest incomes, especially families, as Tony Abbotts gov-ernment continues to strip billions from family sup-port payments, education, child dental and other community health programs.
