BLACK MALES NEEDED AT MEHARRY MEDICAL COLLEGE! This message is from Dr. Glenda Glover, President of Tennessee State University and her Community Affairs Liaison, Mrs. Barbara Murrell. There is a program between TSU and Meharry Medical College where the student would go to TSU for three years and then on to Meharry and finish to become an MD or DDS in 7 years instead of the traditional 8 years.

They have enough females already signed up for the program and no black males. If you know any black males who are high school seniors that want to become a medical doctor, have a 28 on the ACT and a 3.5 GPA, I have a possible free ride for them at Tennessee State University. You can send prospective candidates information to me: [email protected] and it will be forwarded to President Glover and Mrs. Barbara Murrell.

HEALTH AND FITNESS CORNER

CDC FACE SHIELD INFORMATION: “CDC does not recommend using face shields or goggles as a substitute for masks. Goggles or other eye protection may be used in addition to a mask. Do NOT put a plastic face shield (or a mask) on newborns or infants.

Face shields and goggles are primarily used to protect the eyes of the person wearing it. Goggles do not cover the nose and mouth. Face shields are not as effective at protecting people around you from your respiratory droplets. Face shields have large gaps below and alongside the face, where your respiratory droplets may escape and reach others around you. However, wearing a mask may not be feasible in every situation for some people.” For more information click here.

TITHE 10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD TITHE Tithe: To tithe is to freely give one-tenth of one’s income to God through His Church.

1. It is Biblical – Approved by God in Old and New Testaments - Malachi 3:10; Matthew 23:23 2. To Show Your Love toward God – Song of Solomon 8:7 3. It demonstrates that you put God and His work first – Matthew 6:33 4. It is a Testimony that you recognize and acknowledge God’s ownership – Psalms 24:1 5. It Helps to Spread the Gospel – 1 Corinthians 9:14 6. Because You Want to Avoid a Curse and Escape Condemnation – Malachi 3:8, 9 7. It is an act of worship – Nehemiah 10:38 8. It is Holy unto the Lord and it belongs to Him – Leviticus 27:30 9. It gives confidence in the practice of prayer – 1 John 3:22 10. God’s blessings are upon individuals who will tithe – Proverbs 3:9, 10

By downloading the Givelify (www.givelify.com) app you can also give whenever the Spirit moves

and our church also has a giving Kiosk in the main hall as you exit the rear Sanctuary doors to your

left. You can also give through Cash App: $FBCHighlandPark (please provide your full name and/or

your membership number).

Our Offerings are those gifts that go beyond the tithe and it is to that end that each Disciple at

Highland Park is asked to consider giving a sacrificial gift of $365. BIG thanks go out to the

entire congregation for how Disciples financially supported Men’s Empowerment Weekend as we

seek to continue make a global difference.
