physical challenges. Some people actually have these challenges. We do not know why God allows some people to be blind, others to be

deaf, and others to be paralyzed. We should not ask why God allows this, but know God has a plan and a purpose for everyone—even those with physical challenges. We can know God has the power to heal, and if His plan was to make everyone able to see, hear, or move, God could."

•Ask: "What message did you discover? How can we trust God has the power to heal?"

displaying the signs as directed.

A Miracle of HealingBased on John 9:1-34

One day Jesus and His disciples saw a blind man. The disciples asked, [display 1] "Teacher, who sinned causing this man to be born blind, the man or his parents?"

Jesus said, "Neither the man nor his parents. This man was made blind so God can work in his life. I must do the work God sent Me to do."

[Display 2] Jesus spit on the ground and made mud from His saliva. He placed the mud on the man's eyes and told the man, "Go and wash in the pool of Siloam [sigh LOH uhm]." [Display 3] The blind man left, washed in the pool, and returned able to see.

The man's neighbors and others who knew the man used to be blind asked, [display 4] "Isn't this the man who was a blind beggar?" The man kept telling the people, [display 5] "I am the man." The people asked him, [display 6] "How are you now able to see?" The man responded,

Week of February 17, 2013

[display 7] "Jesus made me see." He told the people how Jesus made mud, placed it on his eyes, and told him where to wash. The people asked, [display 8] "Where is Jesus?" The man said, [display 9] "I don't know."

The people took the man to the Pharisees. They asked how he was healed. The man repeated his story. A problem now arose because the man was healed on the Sabbath, the day of rest.

The Pharisees said, [display 10] "This Man is not from God. He does not keep the Sabbath laws." Other people asked how a sinful person could perform the miracle.

The Pharisees asked the man, [display 11] "What do you say about the Man who healed you?" The man replied, [display 12] "He is a Prophet."

The Jews did not believe he was the same man who had been blind. They called on his parents and asked them, [display 13] "Is this your son? How is it that he can now see?" The man's parents said, [display 14] "This is our son, but we do not know how he was healed." The man's parents were scared because they knew if anyone said Jesus was the Messiah, they would be banned from the temple.

The Pharisees asked the man a second time about his healing. The man said, [display 15] "I once was blind, but now I see." He said to the Pharisees, [display 16] "Do you want to become disciples of the Man as well?" They made fun of the man saying, "You are His disciple. We are Moses' disciples. We don't even know where this Man came from."

The man said, [display 17] "You do not know where the Man is from, yet He healed me. God does not listen to sinners, but to anyone who fears Him and does His will. This Man is from God, or He would not be able to do the things He did."

The Pharisees did not like what the man said so they threw him out.

Medicines came from plants, animals, and salt. Different types of plants were used to treat sicknesses.

Frankincense and myrrh were used to treat a variety of diseases.

Medicines are purchased at a pharmacy. People ask God to heal them.

Wine was commonly used as a medicine. Wine helped get rid of pain, settle an upset stomach, and treat other

Doctors use computers to keep a record of people's illnesses and treatments.

The priests had the responsibility to determine whether a person could infect another person or not. In some cases,
