THANKSGIVING
DAY MASSES:
7 AM & 9:15 AM
Reflections on Sunday Readings:
First Reading: Daniel 7:13-14
The book of Daniel was written
150 years before Christ, when the
Jews were experiencing fierce per-
secution. The author wanted to en-
courage the people by telling heroic
stories about a person named Daniel
who lived many centuries earlier.
Today’s reading describes his vision
of heaven, and is written in symbol-
ic language --similar to the book of
Revelation. The term “Son of Man”
indicated a human chosen by God
for a special purpose. Christians
have applied this vision to Jesus.
Second Reading: Revelation 1:5-8 The book of Revelation was not
intended to predict actual people
and events in later times. It was
rather intended to be a source of
hope for Christians toward the end
of the first century who were suffer-
ing persecution. Today’s passage is
from the very beginning of the book
and is part of a greeting from God to
the persecuted people.

Dear Friends,
This weekend, we are celebrating the feast of Chris the King. The beautiful
prayer of the Preface reminds us that his kingdom is “a kingdom of truth and
life, a kingdom of holiness and grace, a kingdom of justice, love and
peace.” The readings we have listened to show us how Jesus established his
kingdom; how he brings it about in history; and what he now asks of us.
But this feast is also a feast of the personal relation-
ship of Christ with each of us who believes that He is
our Savior and our Lord. How many of us consider
ourselves as truly subject to the words, the teachings,
and the person of Christ? How many of us really be-
lieve that our King reigns from the Cross, that Cross
that is at once the reality of the suffering of this world
and at the same time the only answer to the suffering
of this world? How many of us have enthroned him in our hearts, our minds,
our bodies and souls, not in some pietistic way, but in a real way that affects
how we live our lives? How many of us are willing to be the soldiers of the
King, to fight the battle against the implications of Pilate’s question “what is
truth” in a world, like the world of Jesus’ time, has already assented to the
denial implied in that question? And the final question to be asked on this
feast is this: when the King comes again in all of his power and glory, will he
find any faith on this earth, or will he find just broken bridges? (Father Rich-
ard G. Cipolla)

we do have to contend with stairs
often. We pick up from wonderful
donors and deliver to a storage facili-

They Took on Hollywood’s Anti-
Christian Culture - and Won with the
powerful movie, “God’s Not Dead.”
Taking on Hollywood are Cary Solo-
mon and Chuck Konzelman, two
fearless warriors with the credibility
of long careers in the secular enter-
tainment industry. Cary and Chuck
are now challenging the elite with
faith-based films that are also com-
mercial successes. Their newest
movie, God’s Not Dead is a power-
ful production that matches Holly-
wood's’ most sophisticated. Cary and
Chuck co-produced it for $1.1 mil-
lion; it generated over $100 million.
You can hear their story first hand on

PRAY FOR THE SICK
IN OUR PARISH:
Aryn Turner, Tiff Garcia,
Maxwell McKilligan, Lennie Mariazeta, Eric Scott,
Ann Musick and Patty Gross.
Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the
sick members of our community and for all who are in
need. May these special people find lasting health and
deliverance. We ask this through the Lord Jesus who
healed those who believed. Amen
The following prayer is from Fr. Timoney’s homily
last weekend, composed by a parishioner in a parish that
Fr. Declan served in. It has been requested by several
parishioners.
Mavis’s Prayer
Another day is beginning, no one knows how many
days we have left on this earth. If you want to do some-
thing with your life, start today. If you want to spend
more time with your family, start today. If anyone
needs your forgiveness, forgive them today.
And when today is over, be at peace knowing that it
was not wasted.”
