Isaiah 11:1-10 Romans 15:4-9 Matthew 3:1-12

Dear Members of St Mary, I am about to mark my 16th year with St. Joseph’s Family Center. Time has passed quickly, and it is hard to reflect on everything that has happened. One constant during my tenure has been the incredible support that our agency receives from St. Mary School and St. Mary Parish. This unconditional, unfailing commitment to our mission starts with my colleagues on the parish staff. Hilda Porcella and Rose Barry seemingly live here, because I never see them leave! Their work ethic and drive are impossible to match; Pam Greteman must manage the challenges of modern education, school administration and the hundreds of unique personalities of our school parents. She does so with grace and aplomb. I could not do what she does, not even for one day; Debbie Pelliccione and Rebeca Aldaz do all the work behind the scenes, from scheduling, finance and daily operations. They rarely get credit for the value they add; Fr. Robert Brocato leads us all, tries his best to be inclusive and seeks input from all walks of the congregation. Change and tradition are hard to balance, and Fr. Robert strives to achieve this as our pastor. It is hard for me to express the admiration and respect I have for each one of my peers. Even after all this time, I still do not carry a clear understanding of each of their roles here on campus, but without reservation, I have never met a group more dedicated to faith, education, youth and service to the community. For this, I am blessed and thankful. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

How Clean Should Our Church Be?

Flowers for Christmas

St. Mary School Office: 408.842.2827 Religious Education: 408.847.2652

The service projects have begun for the children in our program. We are working on getting

food donations from our students so that they can donate to St. Joseph's Family Center. We will begin our Christmas project right after Thanksgiving, which will be sock donations for the needy. We will not have classes Thanksgiving Weekend, November 27th and November 28th. Classes will resume on December 3rd and 4th. Enjoy the love from family and friends this holiday weekend.

Weekend Liturgy Questions/Comments 11/27/16 1. We are told to stay awake and be prepared. But why should

we be alert? We should be alert that we are living a good life. 2. Many people prepare for Christmas by shopping for gifts.

Matthew reminds us that Jesus was talking only with his disciples and giving them an idea of how to live. If our lives do not include preparation for a heavenly reward then life is hopeless. Rejoice in the hope that we have.

3. How can we prepare simply and sacramentally for Christmas? What is most important to everyone about Christmas?

A Catholic Education—Come Look Inside! Have you ever thought about a Catholic education for your child? St. Mary School challenges our students to fulfill their individual potential and be people of faith, active learners and responsible citizens. We have tours available anytime by appointment where prospective parents can tour the school and learn about our Kindergarten program for 4 and 5 year olds, the academic program for Grades 1-8, school policies and procedures, and find out about the registration process and screening. You can visit the classrooms and see how your child will spend the day. Applications for Kindergarten through Eighth grade are available now at the School Office, 7900 Church Street, Gilroy. For more information, contact Emily Morris, St. Mary School Admissions Director at 408.842.2827 or visit www.stmarygilroy.org.
