Oral  Language:    Activities  and  Vocabulary  Discussed  throughout  the  Week  This  week’s  theme:  The  Funfair  and  Theme  Parks  Week  3  Vocabulary:    Tier  1  examples:  funfair,  merry-­‐go-­‐round,  big  wheel,  funfair  game,  ride,  horse,  pole,  swing,  seat,  cans,  ball,  ticket,  prize,  cuddly  toy  Tier  2  examples:  candyfloss,  giant  lollipop,  coloured  lights,  and  spin,  swing  Tier  3  examples:  attraction,  saucer,  booth,  carousel,  vehicle,  passenger,  and  preference

Choose  a  funfair  activity  and  describe  to  your  son  e.g.  This  is  big  and  spins  around  in  the  air  (big  wheel/Ferris  wheel);  this  goes  super-­‐speedy  on  a  twisty  track  (roller  coaster).  etc.  Children  must  guess  which  activity  is  being  described.  When  they  are  familiar  with  the  activity,  allow  the  children  to  describe  and  for  you  to  guess  rides.  The  game  could  also  be  expanded  to  include  funfair  food  (popcorn,  hotdog,  candyfloss,  lollipop,  etc.)
