    Because it was very hot, they worelight-weight long robes to protect theirskin against the suns rays and yet

    loose enough to allow cool air to enter.

    Woolen tunics or shawls were oftenworn across the shoulders

    People went barefoot or wore sandalstied with leather thongs to protect theirfeet.

    When the Israelites traveled,they walked with the help of a

    donkey or horse to carrywomen and small children.
