Congratulations to all of our students who continue to display our core values of being Kind, Safe Proud and Supportive at our school. All students have been working hard to complete their contracts and are recognised for their outstanding efforts in the classroom and in the playground. Be proud of your achievements boys and girls! S2H received the gold medal at the Muswellbrook Eisteddfod with their poems 'Birdsong' and 'I tried to do my homework'. This is a wonderful achievement for our students with lots of hard work and continual practice assisting with their success. Well done to all of our other classes who have received Highly Commended for their performances. Also, congratulations to Harrison M who received gold in the individual section of the eisteddfod. Harrison wrote his own poem titled "Soccer". Great job! Four students represented the Upper Hunter Zone at the recent Hunter PSSA Cross Country Championships. Congratulations to Elise K who finished 5th. Elise raced against eight other regional areas across the Hunter in the 11 Years age group. Elise will now represent the Hunter Region at the State Championships held at Eastern Creek Raceway in July. Elise has been training hard each week and is a regular Singleton parkrunner each Saturday morning at Rose Point Park. Your dedication is paying off. Great work Elise. We have sixteen creative students taking part in this years Star Struck extravaganza. Our students have been rehearsing their performances now for a number of weeks and will be travelling to Newcastle next week to perform with many schools from all over the Hunter. Our school would like to wish all of our students the best of luck and we look forward to their final performances on the 15th and 16th June. Bullying is a hot topic at present. The definition of bullying as stated in our KSPS Anti-bullying policy is repeated verbal, physical, social or psychological behaviour that is harmful and involves the misuse of power by an individual or group towards one or more persons. Cyber bullying refers to bullying through information and communication technologies. Please be mindful that bullying is repeated and/or continuous behaviour by a person or group of people. Bullying at King Street Public School is treated swiftly and with serious consequences however, it is important for all students to report these incidents to a teacher, parent or trusted adult immediately so that our school can act upon and eradicate any incidents quickly. I would like to wish all of our families a relaxing and safe, long weekend. Elise Runs in to State

On Friday, four KSPS students competed at the PSSA Cross Country Regionals in Cessnock.

Brandon ran in the Under 11 Boys and Samara and Kady R in the Under 10 Girls. All placed in the top 20 of the region against

some tough competition.

Elise ran in the Under 11 Girls placing 5th in her age group. This qualifies Elise for the PSSA State Cross Country Carnival being held on the 27th of July in Sydney. Well done!

Congratulations to al students on a great effort.

PSSA Girls Soccer

On Monday, our PSSA Senior Girls Soccer Team went to Alroy Oval to play Singleton Heights. When we arrived Layla K went through some exercises to warm up. We kicked off at 9.45am and started our game. We had 3 defence (fullback), 1 goal keeper, 2 strikers and 5 midfield.

We played fantastic for the first half of the game as well as the second half. Charlize was our goal keeper until unfortunately she rolled her ankle. Bravely Constance stepped in to fill the goal keeper position for the rest of the game.

Unfortunately we lost 3-0, but well done to the girls for playing fairly and fantastically. Also a big thank you to Miss Streater for accompanying and supporting us at the game and also Mr Broadley for training us and organising our game. Great work team!

Layla K, Laila T and Jessica R.

How many laces are there?

If my dog ate one shoe, how many shoes would be left?

If five people came to visit (all of them wearing shoes) and they added their shoes to mine, how many shoes would there be altogether?

REMINDER! Keeping KSPS Kids Safe on the Road

It is a priority for us at King Street to keep our children safe. Road safety in particular is of highest priority. We would like to remind motorists of the various RTA signs that surround our school and ask you to take care and abide by these rules when dropping off and collecting your children. We would also like to ask all motorists to please NEVER stop near the pedestrian crossing in Sussex Street. It blocks the view for other motorists being able to see students crossing the road.

For your convenience, we have included some information from the RTA website:

To further ensure the safety of our children, the P&C has erected signs on the Sussex street fences to remind drivers of the drop off/pick up area. These signs indicate the areas where the zone starts and finishes.

If you are stopping in this zone you must remain within 3 metres of your car, and you may only stop for 2 minutes. This means you can pull up, get out and collect school bags from your boot or backseat, kiss your child then depart. We would appreciate it if all motorists could use this zone correctly, as it would maintain smooth traffic flow in Sussex Street, and help to keep our children safe.

Encourage students to follow our footprints and to cross safely only at the designated crossing. We ask all parents to help us by reinforcing at home the safest way for your child to arrive and leave school each day, particularly if they are walking to a car on our busy roads.
