Chapter Overview

• Chapter 2 introduced you to the basic slopes stability. Students need to know the soil’s behaviour when the sliding occurs.

• Awareness of the shearing resistance is important in order to analyze soil stability problems.

Learning Objectives

• To introduce the basic concept of slope stability. • Students manage to know the soil condition

when slope started to fail. • Student can understand the causes that make

the slope fail. • They also can take precaution method when

designing the slope stability to avoid slope failure.
