Interrelate Please be aware of the fast approach of this program (next Wednesday 9th November). As said last week the P&C is subsidising our families. At present not many have indicated they will be attending. If planning to attend please follow up by the end of this week or I may be forced to cancel. Annual School Report The 2011 ASR is underway. A requirement of the ASR is that I need to seek community views on a curriculum area, a management area and obtain information on the community’s overall satisfaction with the school. This year we have decided to seek community views on teacher professional development and the use of technology in the teaching of Literacy and Numeracy. In years gone by I have developed a survey around the review areas. This has not been all that useful as very few families respond. This year we will be doing a random selection of families and have the families phoned and asked the questions over the phone. Families who will be surveyed should have received a letter containing advanced warning with an option of not being involved. Likewise, any family wishing to be surveyed who is not selected can be surveyed by emailing the school and requesting to be phoned. Phone calls will be made this week, thus anyone wishing to be involved who has not received a letter needs to contact the office this week. Selective High Schools 2013 Parents of children currently in Year 5 will find information further in this publication relating to applications for their children to attend selective high schools in 2013. Although the flyer provides all necessary information I am more that happy to assist and answer questions.
Jan Latta - Diary of A Wildlife Photographer Jan Latta will visit our school on 10th November to share her experiences with the children. A note was given to the children with information about this. I do commend this visit to you and suggest you do a Google on her. I’m sure you will agree with me that this will be a most worthwhile experience for the children. The cost of this visit is $3 per child. Jan will also have books on sale for $10ea. There are a couple of copies in the foyer if you would like to have a look. Order forms are in the office. Absent Letters Absent letters are being sent home this week. If you receive an absent letter please fill it in and return it to the office. If you have submitted a note to the teacher on or after Monday 31st October you may still receive an absent letter. This is because the note has not been processed at the time of printing. Hillsborough Public School Canteen 2012 Volunteers
No experience necessary, just a smile and a willingness to help!! The canteen comes under the umbrella of the P&C and is a major fundraiser for our School. The canteen is wholly run as a volunteer system. To remain open, we depend on the generosity of parents and friends. Doing canteen is a wonderful way to meet other parents/carers and form new friendships. Our children love to see mum, dad or a grandparent helping out in the canteen. Canteen volunteers commence at 9am and finish at the end of lunch at We are in the process of organising 2012. If you are interested in helping in the school canteen, please indicate below what days/frequency suit you. We understand that details may change, but we need an indication of the number of volunteers we may have next year. We hope you understand that due to insurance regulations, babies and preschoolers are not able to accompany you. Any questions, please call Julie Onslow on 0407 215 924 or my email address is [email protected]. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
