Before I started the MCBS Program I was in the aerospace manufacturing industry doing logistic
support.
Prior to that I was in the military for 11 years working on aviation electronics.
Both jobs were really innovative, and I learned a lot doing both.
I had always thought I wanted to be in some kind of job making electronics or at least fixing them, but
my time in the military made me realize that wasn’t for me.
My time working in aerospace was fun, but I still wasn’t happy doing my job at the end of the day.
But then I decided to look at the things that did make me happy and find a way to make that my
future career.
I also looked into what skills seemed to help me in my past careers.
I put together a list of those skills so I could work on enhancing them.
Because of that I was able to pinpoint many talents that I was unaware of.
Each one was a big help in my success in the past, but not related to the job directly.
Because of that I realized that it wasn’t the job that was going to make me happy.
I finally figured out that I had to focus on my skills that made me both successful and happy.
Because of that I began looking into the one thing that makes me truly happy, entertainment.
Any form of entertaining people works for me, but music and comedy are the two that stand out most
in my mind and heart.
I hopped online and started looking for a school and degree.
I searched for quite some time trying to figure out what degree fit best.
Until finally I came across Full Sail University. I did some research on the school, and after finding out
how closely connected to the entertainment industry I knew I’d found my school.
Now I just needed to narrow down the degree. I looked through them all and it was like a light
turned on when I read over the Media Communications degree plan.
It hit on such a wide variety of the skills I had been looking at as strengths, I knew I’d found my path.
And ever since I decided to pursue my passion for media I’ve become more and more confident that
this was the right choice.
It has been very tough because I have zero experience formally, but the more assignments I
complete, the more my portfolio is growing.
