Week 11 We have arrived at Week 11 and at the final school week of Term 1. We commenced Term 1 with the effects the local bushfires had on our community and families over the Christmas holidays, still fresh in our minds. We soon discovered that more difficult times were to be faced, with the impact of COVID-19 and the changes this was soon to bring to our daily lives and the education of our children. They say, attitude is everything. Over the past 11 weeks, Kandos Public School has approached each new situation and each new challenge with a steely determination and an unwavering positivity and energy. Congratulations to our teachers, who have produced and delivered learning packs for each of our students and successfully introduced them to the new world of online learning. The executive staff have been amazing with their efforts. The workload has been phenomenal. Praise to our parents and carers, who through their continued guidance and encouragement, have assisted children with their education over the past few weeks. We know it hasn’t been easy. Term 1 concludes tomorrow, Thursday, 8th April. Term 2 will commence on Monday, 27th April with a Staff Development Day (a pupil free day). Term 2 Remote Learning for students will continue during Week 1 of Term 2. Students will resume school work on Tuesday, 28th April. Class timetables and activities will be posted online on ClassDojo and the Skoolbag app on Monday, 27th April. Parents can also contact the office on 63794201 and request a paper copy of the Week 1 timetable and activities for their child. Anzac Day - 25/4 Anzac Day falls on Saturday, 25th April and occurs at the end of the second week of the school holidays.

It is important for us to continue to commemorate this day, even though community events will not be taking place. Maybe families could consider making Anzac biscuits, making a poppy or a wreath and placing them in windows, or taking a virtual tour of an Anzac memorial or site. Class teachers will be looking forward to receiving stories and photos on how your family paid tribute to the 2020 Anzac Day.

Congratulations! The names of families who have made School Voluntary Contribution payments during this term were placed into a draw to win a $50.00 IGA voucher. The draw took place yesterday and was supervised by Sherie Thorn, P&C President. Congratulations to the winner, Kiera Nelson and her family.

HAPPY EASTER! Happy Easter to all of our families.

During this holiday time, please remember to adhere to the advice given by both the Federal and N.S.W Governments.

I wish everyone a very safe, relaxing and enjoyable Easter and holiday break at home.

We look forward to Term 2 and hope it is smoother sailing for all of us.

Stayed tuned to Kandos Public School’s social media pages for our Virtual Easter Hat Parade.
