Q: Would it be possible to utilize the Cardiac Rehab gym when it is not in use with patients? That would seem to fill a need for those without gym access or who would like to work out over a break.
A: The cardiac rehab exerciseequipment is for patient therapy and more maintenance would be required if it was open for use by sta and visitors. The best solution is to find a gym with hours and location that works for you and utilize the wellness reimbursement.Andrea Moulds, Cardiovascular Services
Q: Why do the dierent stations in the Allen Café close at dierent times? Is it possible to leave everything available until 7:30 p.m.? The people that come in for 7 p.m.-7 a.m. would like to have food items available to them. The stations are frequently torn down prior to thescheduled close time.
A: The stations in the café close in the evening based on customer trac. The largest number of dinner customers visit 5:30-6:30pm. We typically serve very few people between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., so that’s why the hot stations close at 7 p.m. There are still grab & go options and salad bar available until 7:30 p.m. If an employee is working 7 p.m.-7 a.m., it would make sense for them to visit the café by 6:30 or 6:45 p.m. at the latest so they are able to eat before their shift starts or even just purchase food to take with them to eat later.Lisa Kremer, Allen Café

The Forums — January 2017 —Why United Way. Why you?
You are part of one of the most giving organizations in the Cedar Valley. When the flooding and tornados came in 2008, you stepped up to help your co-workers. When we asked in 2015 for 100% participation in the For Allen For You campaign, you made it happen. When the CedarValley experienced more flooding this past falll, you dropped everything to help our hospital, our patients and our community. When United Way asked for sup-port, we increased our annual contribution each year for three years straight.
Now we ask you to keep the streak going for the annual employee campaign – both for the For Allen For Youcampaign and for the Cedar Valley United Way. Last year we raised over $56,100 for United Way. As of today, we are at $36,671.31 – let’s work to increase that support to help our friends, our neighbors, our family. And in the end, it helps Allen too – we received over $350,000 from United Way last year for programs such as the Allen Child Protection Center and Together for Youth.
Thank you for owning the moment and seizing theopportunity to give to this year’s employee campaign before the January 27 deadline.
