Sport Whanganui and the Wanganui Secondary School network invite nominations for the 2015

Dub.Dee.See Youth Committee Wanganui Secondary School Sports Awards

Please complete a separate nomination form for each nominee in each category and ensure you tailor your entry towards that category. The awards are open to all student sportspeople including those with disabilities. All nominees must have been a student in years 9 to 13 at a Wanganui Regional Secondary School within

the qualifying period of 1st October 2014 to 30th September 2015. Please provide all details for all questions and arrange for all nominees to be present at the awards function on Wednesday 28th October, commencing

5.15pm (drinks & nibbles), 6pm start until approximately 8.00pm at Wanganui Girls’ College School Hall.

WSS Junior Sportswoman of the Year Open to any individual female student aged under 16 years as at 1 January 2015, who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the qualifying period. This is the top performance competing at the highest level (local, regional, zone, national or international). WSS Junior Sportsman of the Year Open to any individual male student aged under 16 years as at 1 January 2015, who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the qualifying period. This is the top performance competing at the highest level (local, regional, zone, national or international). WSS Senior Sportsman of the Year Open to any individual male student aged over 16 years as at 1 January 2015, who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the qualifying period. This is the top performance competing at the highest level (local, regional, zone, national or international). WSS Senior Sportswoman of the Year Open to any individual female student aged over 16 years as at 1 January 2015, who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the qualifying period. This is the top performance competing at the highest level (local, regional, zone, national or international). WSS Official of the Year Open to all student officials who have excelled in & displayed an outstanding performance as a referee/umpire/judge during the qualifying period. They should show a commitment to developing as an umpire through the year and display the best qualities and characteristics of an official (eg. fairness, communication, consistency, confidence, integrity, enjoyment, development). WSS Coach of the Year Open to all student coaches who have excelled in performing at their role/displayed an outstanding performance during the qualifying period. They should display impressive coaching qualities and attributes and exemplify fairplay, a positive coaching style and understanding and have success at coaching their athletes in skill and game development within their sport/s. WSS Junior Team of the Year Open to a school team containing students in Years 9 and or 10 who have excelled in competition during the qualifying period. If the team is a mix of junior and senior students then the nomination will fall within the senior team category. This is the top performance competing at the highest level (local, regional, zone, national or international). WSS Senior Team of the Year Open to a school team containing students in Years 11 to 13 who have excelled in competition during the qualifying period. If the team is a mix of junior and senior students then the nomination will fall within the senior team category. This is the top performance competing at the highest level (local, regional, zone, national or international). WSS Contribution Award (go straight to this award on page 6). Open to any individual who has exemplified fairplay in all aspects of their sporting activities during their tenure at school. They must have shown leadership, role modeling, service before self and a high level of commitment to supporting sport at their school. There may be multiple recipients of this award. WSS Recognition of Performance in Local Competition - Team or Individual Sport (go straight to this award on page 7) Open to any individual or team, male, female or mixed, junior or senior who has represented their school (all team members from the same school) and have displayed the best performance participating in a local competition (local competition is any league that runs 6 weeks or more and is offered and played in Wanganui). Must include an explanation of how the individual or team has worked towards achieving this result. However, if individuals or teams are forced to play in a league outside of Wanganui due to NO local league offered in Wanganui, they can also be nominated for this recognition.
